Are you honestly suggesting that he should allow his GM total freedom to give $100m+ contracts to players without having to get any approval from the owner? I doubt than any owner in the NFL gives his GM carte blanche to spend his money that way.Having the power of veto doesn't mean that Arthur Blank is intefering in every decison, deciding who we should draft and sign, or vetoing proposed personnel decisons in favour of players that he just happens to want. A good owner supports and endorses his GM's player evaluations and personnel decisions, reteining a power of veto which should only be used in exceptional circumstances.People accuse Blank of interfering, but there is absolutely no evidence at all of Blank vetoing proposed FA signings; deciding who we should sign, draft or trade for; deciding which playes should be cut/traded; or having any input concerning schemes and which players should start etc. I doubt that people like Dan Reeves and Rich McKay would have wanted to work for him if that were the case.Do you remember what Reeves said about Blank wanting Peerless Price? "Blank wanted him and signed him". Who picked Mora Jr? WTH?That is THE main thing that irked me at the PC as well, when King Arthur interupted Dimitroff and answering the questions as he saw fit, that leads me to believe that he is going to have his hands in personnel decisions, if so that could be a bad thing. Interfering with football operations from an owner has led to disaster EVERY TIME. Without the Tuna being in Dallas, even Jerry Jones would have falled (as he did before the Tuna came to Dallas). However, the Tuna held Jerry Jones off long enough to make a better team.We aren't going to pick a strong coach to do that. McKay being shoved to the side and THEN made to be his boss??? I agree Blank needs to show some respect -- this presser was about TD not "Hello, I'm Arthur Blank". But, in the end, TD enjoyed himself.The org structure thing is what it should be. We'll keep the structure in place --- and for that matter, it's the same as the Pats, Pittsburgh, Ravens, Browns, Titans, ... the list goes on.Also, it's important to point out that it's fairly standard for a senior manager to be kept under reins when they first start a job and once they build confidence and prove they can really perform the job, they are given more rope. Just be patient people ... it'll work out in the end.Also, be realistic, we are not going to be a playoff team next year -- or maybe even the next. But, building through the draft is the way to go -- and it is a major shift from McKay's philosophy which is big bang through free agency. Before now, I would blame everyone else but now its kindof obvious what's going on. In a way, I'm happy the situation (but not what YKW is going through or what he did) changed the way it did. Vick was covering up the MANY problems behind the scenes. We had the equivalent of a Micheal Jordan on our team and the best we could muster is 8-8? Blank would know this and step in as he sees fit to do so. Being just a Director of College Scouting, TD might have seldom, if ever, met with any press, PLUS this was a really big deal.I just think Blank was trying to help the guy at his first presser!
