jamnesiac34
So you guys can take a look for yourself at who the Patriots have drafted recently. The Pat's 2007 draft was basically irrelevant. The only player still with the team I believe is Meriweather. 2006Rnd 1 Laurence Maroney Minnesota 2 Chad Jackson Florida 3 Dave Thomas Texas 4 Garrett Mills Tulsa 4 Stephen Gostkowski Memphis 5 Ryan O'Callaghan California 6 Jeremy Mincey Florida 6 Dan Stevenson Notre Dame 6 Le Kevin Smith Nebraska 7 Willie Andrews Baylor 2005Rnd 1 Logan Mankins Fresno State 3 Ellis Hobbs Iowa State 3 Nick Kaczur Toledo 4 James Sanders Fresno State 5 Ryan Claridge Nevada-Las Vegas 7 Matt Cassel USC 7 Andy Stokes William Penn 2004Rnd 1 Vince Wilfork Miami (FL) 1 Ben Watson Georgia 2 Marquise Hill Louisiana State 3 Guss Scott Florida 4 Dexter Reid North Carolina 4 Cedric Cobbs Arkansas 5 P.K. analogk37
How many people are forgetting where the Patriots have been drafting the last few years? For picking at the end of the rounds, those are some pretty darn good picks. And notice how often they miss in the early rounds... THEY DON'T!A team only has to hit on their first three rounds to be good in a few years. Notice where Asante Samuel and James Sanders were drafted. All these guys would be starter or be getting major playing time, Marquise Hill RIP.He got 3 starters on the "all world" offensive line outside the 1st round. He is apparently brilliant. The argument here is whether the Patriots have had good drafts or not, which should be common sense.
Peyton
Just the fact that people here think Dimitroff was soley respinsible for those picks speaks volumes about thier knowledge. It's true that we really don't know how much input he had on the picks at all. It's very possible that his job as director of scouting to just compile information. He comes in as a true mystery man really.

obmann
It is a difference to pick around 29-32 and to pick 1-5. The Pats have not early picks. I think, that they done a good job for their picks. I it is a little bit easier to have a impact player with a first overall pick.

delaigle
Your list is very incomplete! Like their 1st round pick of 2007 was that like #30,#31, or #32 overall. You need to remember where the pick was and who was left on the boards at the time of that pick before you can say it was a good pick OR a BAD pick! And you do not cover any of that!! Also you need to review each position on the Pats team and determine where they needed help. There could have been a good linebacker left on the boards that the Pats skippped because they don't need linebackers ETC. JUST putting up those list means NOTHING AT ALL. kal
Despite picking 20 picks later then us every year near enough we would be in so much better a state with their drafts.Any time you can get the kind of value they do from their day one picks you have to be happy. He's found pro bowl o-liners and excellent starting CB's outside of the 1st round. He has been part of a team where they've drafted well. There may not be any flashy people in there, but then there never really has been in NE and thats why they're so good. They get the right guys in for the right situation, and im excited to see where he can help us go
