cshot4
Falcons owner Blank searching for staff that will stick around Jan. 4, 2008 Following the Bobby Petrino debacle and Bill Parcells public flirtation with and subsequent humiliation of the Falcons, team owner Arthur Blank has made stability and consistency the characteristics he desires most in a candidate for the vacant GM and head-coaching positions. Blank is conducting interviews for both jobs simultaneously, and he reportedly interviewed Packers director of pro personnel Reggie McKenzie about the GM job and also recently spoke with Colts assistant head coach/QB coach Jim Caldwell about the head-coaching opportunity. Both men come from organizations rooted in taking the long-term approach to building championship-caliber clubs. We hear Blank has been assisted in his search by team president and general manager Rich McKay even though Blank has announced that McKay will lose his GM duties once a new one is hired as well as by former Giants GM Ernie Accorsi. The hierarchy under Blank will be three-pronged McKay will continue working as team president and handle the business side of the operation while the new GM takes over football personnel management after he assists in hiring a coach, which will be the final tier of the trio. No timetable for the hiring process has been made public, but one source estimated that a GM could be in place within the next seven days. Statick
I'm to the point now where I don't care who they hire, as long as it isn't McKay. Just get somebody in that chair already with a bonafide long-term plan/philosophy.
