atljbo
1.Don Shula and Jimmy Johnson both personally recommended Heckert for his current post with the Eagles.2.Jimmy Johnson said when Heckert was hired, "I told Coach Reid if I were to come back as a head coach, Tom would be one of the first guys I'd try to hire."3.Heckert's scouting talents have been valued by the NFL. In 2003, he was appointed by the league to the 12-person College Advisory Committee, which advises college football juniors on their draft status. (so he gets to see all the tape on the upcoming jrs before most do)Im not sure we will hire him...but he is not a bad choice....the fact is...philly is one of the best franchises in the league
doubletrouble21
I think Heckert is one of the better choices of the people we've interviewed.

etherdome
Shula is loyal to his people. He was very good friends with Heckert's dad, so his rec does not surprise.Jimmy Johnson left the Dolphins and hand-picked his successors (Head Coach and Personnel man). He picked Dave Wannstedt and Tom Heckert. The Dolphins have still not recovered.

mrs falcon
I think the GM's philosophy needs to be considered along with your coaching choice and vice versa. They need to work together and hopefully in the falcons case for a long, successful time.

You shouldn't hire ..... he would do a horrible job.The un-named sources tell it like it is.
etherdome
Recovered? The dolphins have been bad for a long time.Long before johnson even.I don't have the stats in front of me but the Dolphins enjoyed a long history of playoff appearances. JJ had a few good drafts that kept them in the winning ways, despite Marino's departure. As soon as JJ left the team, their draft record became one of the worst in the league. falconsd56
Bartkowski (1/6/2008)Can he possibly be worse than McKay?absolutely he could be. Mckay has not been as bad as some people think. If anyone wants to think" oh they can be worse then Mckay", need only look at most of Dan Reeves's drafts.
