cyofish
First, let's not forget the infamous 2007 draft when they traded their 1st pick away to arch-rival Dallas who went on to pick up a DE/LB that would lay the wood to the Philly QBs for years to come. doubletrouble21
In the first draft under Heckert the Eagles selected four Pro Bowlers in Lito Sheppard, Sheldon Brown, Michael Lewis, and Brian Westbrook. Raheem Brock was also taken that draft in the 7th round, but was released due to lack of rookie cap space. Heckert has also gotten credit for the likes of Guard Shawn Andrews, DE Trent Cole, DT Mike Patterson, DT Brodrick Bunkley, LB Omar Gaither, TE L.J. Smith, and many others currently on the Eagles. Tom has a pretty nice career resume. Over his 16-year career in the NFL, Heckert s teams have experienced just one losing season, won their division eight times and made the playoffs 12 times, including five in Philadelphia.'Nuff said. mr pickle
Then your beef is with Andy Reid...he makes the final personell decisions for that team.
scott24falcs
You convienently didn't mention the 2002 draft, where Heckert landed 4 pro-bowlers in Brian Westbrook, Lito Sheppard, Sheldon Brown, and Michael Lewis.
dcfalcons
I've read a few articles that state Heckert doesn't have final say on personel decisions and that Reid does. So I'm not sure it's fair to say his drafts are awful. Either way, I'm hoping we get the right guy.

FalconMama
I cant disagree with anyone saying their not sold on him because with all final decisions going through Andy Reid you really dont know how good the guy is.I would love to give Heckert a chance and see how he will do when he's responsible for building his OWN team with all final decisions are his. What has he done since?????? Are you guys going to base a decision on 1 good draft year - 5 YEARS AGO???? What about 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 & 2007????? Going back 5 years, McKay still did better than Heckert. More importantly, McKay drafted & acquired a roster that WON the Superbowl!Furthermore if Andy Reid makes the final decision that's an even more negative against Heckert not a plus - he is untested. How can you evaluate his effectiveness as a GM if he has no final say in the personnel decsions? Either way it's not very comforting. I think there are BETTER more proven candidates out there. Sometimes I wonder if you guys even think about what you're saying. I agree, we should be looking at someone from the Packer's organzition. Despite losing a lot of key players to free-agencies, including the entire OL duriing their playoff days, they have rebuilt the team into a strong contender a couple of short years later. GEORGIAfan
we need to get mckay to draft from 3rd and below. he can actually pick some good draft picks, but he sucks in 1st, and is 50/50 in 2nd.

Here are Philly's draft picks from 2005-2007...007 Draft - Kolb wasn't exactly my choice for a QB, but it was a good decision. Hindsight is a #####, McNabb showed up... was stupid of them to trade the 1st round pick to Dallas.1. Traded to Dallas, 2. Kevin Kolb QB (3rd string)2. Victor Abiamri DE (3rd string) - No idea. Ask an Eagles fan.3. Stewart Bradley OLB (not on team)3. Tony Hunt RB (3rd string) - Loaded RB position.5. CJ Gaddis CB (not on team)5. Brent Celek, TE (3rd string)6. Opinion Eagle fans??4 99 - Max Jean-Gilles, G (2nd string) - Sits behind a Pro Bowl G4 109 - Jason Avant, WR (2nd string) - 5 starts this year..5 147 - Jeremy Bloom, WR (not on team) - 100% Project Player..5 168 - Omar Gaither, LB (starter) - Solid stats. Opinion Eagle fans??6 204 - LaJuan Ramsey, DT (2nd string) 2005 - This is a pretty good draft imo.. 1. Mike Patterson, DT (starter) - 67 tackles from a DT.2. Reggie Brown, WR (starter) - A clone of Roddy.2. Matt McCoy OL (not on team) - He was a OLB, bust.3 Ryan Moats RB (IR) - 4.5 career average so far.4 Sean Considine FS (IR) - You forgot to mention the Eagles are in love with the guy.. not to mention he started the first 8 games this year and all 16 last year... but that doesn't matter, your too narrow minded.4 Todd Hermmans OT (starter) - No idea. Ask an Eagle.5 Trent Cole DE (starter) - Deserved Pro Bowl consideration.5 Scott Young OG (2nd string)6 Calvin Armstron, OT (not on team)7 Kenoyta Marshall DT (not on team)8 David Begeron ILB (not on team)

isaiah glaze
He and McKenzie are the frontrunners for the GM job, and to be honest the Eagles nor thePackers have had good drafts lately. They both have made a lot of trades. But Heckert andMcKenzie really didn't have the final say so. Now I don't know how they have done with FA/re-signings, but if you are talking just straight drafting then they both have been weak.
