Smashmouth
falcon124 (1/5/2008)Nobody on our D stuffed the run up the middle like Grady...nobody. Lewis is quicker but he doesn't command double teams on every down.Pigtrino sabotaged our team  Zimmer made a bad move by facilitating that decision which thereby put it in Pigtrino's hands to begin with. If Zimmer didn't like what Grady was doing all he/they had to do was bench him :ermm: In retrospect, the way that was handled probably sealed the deal for Zimmer being over looked as a H.C candidate. Cutting Grady was waaaayyyyyy outta line. And to think... some of these MB Knuckleheads thought it was a good idea

I think they get $35,000 for the wid-card game.

john_winger
cblack (1/5/2008)Waiting for the rants to match the we let Kearney get away rants :Whistling: Even though the bum chose to leaveActually, I am sure Kerney would still be here if the Falcons paid him what he asked for. I didn't think he would recover from his injury like he did. Nobody else could have, either. #97 was coming on a couple serious injuries, and had a pretty average (contract, to boot!) year, so it was a good move at the time.Without Miss Cleo to advise us that this, the Schaub trade, and hiring Putridino were bad moves, the Falcons just have to make the best decisions based on the facts at the time.Don't forget we had about 20% of our cap space tied up in a guy that had an illegal hobby.Hindsight is 20/20, and our fans have eagle eyes when it comes to second guessing. falconwes42
falcon124 (1/5/2008)Thanks again, PeSucko!!!!!! Glad Grady's doing well in the playoffs. Its his first year with the Jags, don't worry he'll get a contract extension in the offseason then become an avg DT again. There is nothing to suggest Schaubie would have done anything differently here.
ukfalc
Who cares. The settlement reached in his legal dispute with the team resulted in a large signing bonus being written in to his contract - a signing bonus that we had no intention of paying and that would therefore have resulted in him being cut and becoming a UFA.Grady had NO LONG TERM future with this club. john_winger
There is nothing to suggest Schaubie would have done anything differently here.I sure wouldn't have traded him away and went with Harrington/Leftwich/Redman if I knew what was going to happen. Do you think any of those three are honestly better than Schaub?
falcndave
falcon124 (1/5/2008)Thanks again, PeSucko!!!!!! Glad Grady's doing well in the playoffs.Really, just let it go. Grady may not have been the problem, but he certainly wasn't causing us to win. Was cutting him a mistake? It most likely was. The impact the move had on the veterans was greater than the loss of Grady imho. He's 34 or so. His absence won't be felt as we move forward. I'm just happy for him that he landed in a good situation and that things are working out well for him.If he plays the full season with us I'm thinking our record would have ended up right around 4 and 12 or so. If you like Grady, good for you. However, as a Falcons fan, his absense wasn't a tangible loss to this team. The way he left was in the short term, but now that Petrino is gone the sour taste will leave with him.

I didn't even know that. Maybe we dodged a bullet with that Schaub trade.
