I think we can all agree on D Hall.

I've been critical of D. Hall this season but I don't want to see him gone. CBs with his ability are hard to find. That being said I don't think we should pay him 'shut down' corner money because he hasn't earned that yet.

Part of the reason he's high on the passes defended stat is because he gets thrown at a lot. I don't think other teams are scared of him therefore he has opportunities to make plays...shutdown corners don't get thrown at very often. I'd be interested to see numbers for the number of attempts against him this year vs. last year. I don't think you can judge corners by passes defended and INTs alone. INTs aren't everything. That analysis from footballoutsiders.com someone posted last week on 2007 DB grades was good stuff I thought. He does seem to be MUCH better in man coverage than zone for some reason as someone else stated.

I've been happy to see him return punts lately. We don't have many playmakers at this point in getting the ball to him makes sense.

I don't hold the big mouth against him this year...this has been a hard season to deal with for players and fans.

Go Falcons.

I am having touble understanding how any of you can say Deangelo is any where the shut down corner Deion was. Sanders could not tackle for crap, but he could cover. Hall is no where near that..

Put Deion in his prime in the NFL today and he would not be a shut down corner.

Thankyou. Somebody finally mentioned it. Sanders was a physical corner. That wouldn't fly in today's NFL. He probably could've adjusted due to his athleticism, but he would probably look a lot like, you guessed it, D. Hall.

Exactly and to the thread starter it has nothing to do with receivers speed as to why Deion wouldn't be a shutdown corner. It has to do with rules the NFL has made when it comes to being physical with receivers.

You folks sure pull for a 'me' player awful hard.

Personally...I'm over him.

His smack talk on the field is idiotic.

1 thing doesn't go his way...break out a tissue.

He will weep like a baby.

I guarantee I wouldn't wanna take a chance with his character any longer especially in the locker room.

He is replacable one way or another.

I couldn't agree more with his 'ability to mouth to pay ratio'.

Not with just cutting him.

.. but seriously, get something for him and get rid of him.

Many around here seem to think hes not replacable but c'mon... everybody is.

Time to drop the jock fellas.

'step away from D Halls jock'

Geez, people what ability are you talking about? Hall is a much more physical back than Sander ever was he tackles very well after the fact, he just cannot stick to his recievers. What games are yall watching?

You do know that being a physical Cornerback doesn't actually mean he tackles good.

What are you talking about. Hall covered Fitz in the ARI game and he only got one catch. Hall then got put on A Bold and Fitz caught how many balls while Bold was quiet.

What I was talking about is below ACE (from the football outsiders site). For someone who is our best corner he get's thrown at a lot. If he had great coverage or was someone offenses stayed away from he wouldn't be on that list.

I'm not saying he sucks and he IS our best corner but I don't think we should break the bank to keep him. He's had some good games this year a lot of good games as a Falcon...and is the jersey I wear to the games.

I admit he comes off cocky or maybe even arrogant, Really I do not care he is young and

will mature. What I like about him is he is a top 10 corner in the NFL. And D-Hall is a play maker. Some players just hate losing I feel like hall is one of these type players. He lost his cool in the Carolina game and hurt the team. I think he will learn from those type of mistakes and it will not happen again. I like Hall and Houston as our Corners lets give them time to play together.

Thank you SCF. You have pointed out what I have been trying to say but no one gets. Hall is in on alot of tackles because his reciever catches alot. And as you said they throw at him alot, which I have noticed. If his jersey is in the picture alot that means the team is throwing his way alot believing they can beat him.

lol you agree with yourself, and you have yet to answer my question. How would you replace Hall?

I actually don't want him gone because we can't replace him...he's way too talented...don't agree with me51 on that. I just find it strange that he ends up on the top 10 list for Most Targets per Charted Pass...maybe some of that can be blamed on scheme from this season? He seems much better in man coverage than zone as someone else pointed out.

However I don't want to overpay for him either. I'll trust our new staff to decide what to do I guess ... they watch a lot more tape than me. :

I suppose you want Lewis Sanders to cover everyones number one receiver. What are you thinking? He gets burned every once in a while but so does every other corner in the league. It is totally unreallistic to think that a corner will not give up any catches at all during the season.

The Falcon Ace (12/30/2007)
DeAngelo Hall is one of the most productive CBs in the NFC, and Top 10 in the entire NFL.

But yeah, since the refs obviously gave him two penalties that SHOULD NOT have been called and he gets burned less than Champ Bailey we should cut him. The sound of Lewis Sanders and Chris Houston will truely strike fear into opposing offensive passing games.:hehe:

Ignore them because they are idiots. DHall is our best player hands down (if Abe could overcome the doubles for a few more sacks, he would be our best). DeAngelo is a shutdown corner and anyone who says different obviously knows nothing about football. Passes defensed are just as important (especially when you are playing 10yds off the receiver because of the scheme) as interceptions. BTW, no other corner besides Darrell Green could ever hold a candle to Deion. And with not being able to use your hands, few other corners in the entire NFL history could do what DHall does(recover for a pass breakup or react to run and tackle). As far as CB's go, DHall is among the best so we better kep him.

I swear this is the most fickle board/forum I have ever been a member of. D.Hall is one of the premier corners in the league. Everyone gets busted up every now and then, but how many times does Sanders or Houston give up a crucial play vs Hall? You guys think that one blown coverage means he should be cut. Get over this whole "clean house" BS and see that the Falcons are DESPERATE for talented players and cannot afford to lose one of the best players in this respective position. Grow up!

D.Hall has a big mouth because he is a veteran and deserves respect which was obviously not mutual between him and Petrino.

You guys will all be in shock when he gets the Randy Moss syndrome and joins a team that has playoff aspirations and players with COMPLEMENTARY talent in his respective position.

Perhaps if this **** team played more hard man coverage instead of sitting 50 yards back in zone he would get a few more big plays in.

Let me ask all the people who want Hall gone a question about his "mouth":

If we had the opp to get Chad Johnson on this team would you take him? knowing that he has seasons similar to D.Halls?

He has a big mouth...proly the biggest in the NFL....

IF you said yes you wwould take him....you should ask yourself whats ur agenda against Hall
