cavalcade_of_whimsey
I think my logic is a bit weak but I think the interim HC decision to go with a figure head largely independent from the OC or DC (meaning nobody is pulling a double duty) is indicative of what we will be doing later. I expect somebody like Mike Singletary to come in, captain the ship and, like any good manager, let the right men do their jobs (giving a degree of autonomy to the coordinators). That to me means no McDaniels, Garret, Chow, etc I'd think somebody more like Singletary or Russ Grimm is the likely choice. clownorg
For the mess this team is in right now, no coach comming from college sounds attractive. My top 4 choices & In order areCowher (Don't think He'll come here)Marty (I don't think he'd take the job either)SingletaryRex Ryan

cavalcade_of_whimsey
Mojo Risin (12/12/2007)Lebeau.His defensive mind is what I would kill for us to have!I think the one thing I wouldn't be open to is moving to a 3-4 defense. Our Def is by far the better half of the team and gutting it (because at least half our starters won't fit a 3-4) is not an attractive option. SoCalFalconFan
I am not endorsing a college coach to fill the vacancy. I listed the guys I felt would be looked at. And I'm sure there are more. But out of them all, the only one remotely interesting is Carroll, and he's not going anywhere, in my opinion. Our Def is by far the better half of the team and gutting it (because at least half our starters won't fit a 3-4) is not an attractive option.Half of our starters don't exactly highlight the scheme we have now.We are already rebuilding. It's not like we are a few guys away from a championship team. If brooking wants to hang around, he is best suited for a 3-4. If he hangs around and we convert to 3-4, this draft could be easier for us. Instead of looking at dline AND mlb, we just need to focus on mlb.If we are in a rebuilding stage, why not go ahead and build around a coach that knows how to successfully field a good defense? Jerry Maguire
Bill Cowher... first choice, and while you're at it, lure Alan Faneca here. Then Mike Singletary...Then Russ Grimm...
Mojo Risin
Unfortunately, no proven coach is going to want to come here when they know they won't have control of personnel. McKay is a wiz at milking extra money out of the cap but he can prevent us from getting a proven coach.
atlfan25
HC: Mike SingletaryOC: Pete MangurianDC: Johnnie LynnMangurian is tight end coach for the Pats right now and coached under Reeves in 03, so the people crying out for Reeves to return should like bringing him back, Lynn is the secondary coach for the 49ers's and had some NFL DC experience. Singletary is a great leader and Blank liked him last offseason.
popcornplaya
Preferences:1. Bill Cowher2. Jimmy Johnson3. Marty Schottenheimer4. Mike MartzThat is my short list. I don't care how much money it takes, I want Cowher. If it takes $8 million a season, so be it. We need a coach that is proven to come in here. Someone the players will immediately respect.I wouldn't mind having Norm Chow as an OC and Singletary as a DC.

jidady
Clancy Pendergast is another name you don't have highlighted who has merited head coaching discussions. He has some innovative schemes with the Cardinals.
