Demetrius Dew
President and General Manager duties as well?I think that any proven Head Coach (Like Cowher or Shotty) that knows of our situation is going to want Mckay gone and rightfully so. direwolf
For Cowher, I'd be more than willing to give him power over personnel matters. We'd have a dominant offensive line in no time.Direwolf
Demetrius Dew
I agree only a proven NFL Head Coach though would I allow to have control over personnel matters.
Anon
It's too bad Blank and McKay are joined at the hip. I'd give Cowher or Marty those duties

I'd give Cowher or Marty those dutiesThat may be the reason we don't get one of them. All they have to do is look at the roster and ask who in the H E double hockey stick put this roster together. halsey
I remember the Falcons, years ago, passing on an assistant coach by the name of Bill Belichik in order to hire a proven coach by the name of Jerry Glanville. Every great coach has to get his first start somewhere. Always hiring proven guys doesn't guarentee anything.

No guarantee that an assistant will work out, either.Direwolf
Peyton
I think Cowher would work with McKay. Bill Cowher is a coach, that's what he does. If his fire has been stoked this season and Blank comes up with a strong offer, I don't see why he wouldn't want to coach this team.

Mckay has run outta mulligans, so his stay here has got to be on life support.Predictability "Coaching Retreads" will only take you but so far. While we're whollowing in the dirt, we need to be sifting for the crowned Jewel where ever it maybe.

This team needs it's own infusion of fresh blood, identity and leadership. Not some blood transfusion from the Pitts. IMHO Singletary is the best choice for that. Keep Zimmer and/or give Jackson a looksy, and move on from there.
dr_evl
You need to change scenery right? You need to hire someone to lead? It's time to stop the shinanagans and give a head coach full control. He at that point has the ability to deal with any situations that would arise. I do not dislike McKay or Blank, but frankly, the egos have got to go.

I was making a point about assuming that an experienced HC is a better choice than an assistant. Why does something so simple need to be explained to some people...
