atlndvd
wouldn't help anyway. People would be calling for his head next year because no matter who we bring in... we need to be prepared for another losing season next year. Nobody can turn this wreck around over one season but that's all people here are willing to give a coach. People here were calling for Petrinos head after 3 games... bigbird
I agree. Blank needs a 5 year commit from the next hire and the next hire needs a 5 year commit from Blank. No buy-outs.

falconva7
I made pretty much the exact same thread, saying Cowher, Parcells, and Schottenheimer will not come to Atlanta. A proven head coach wants to come coach a decent team that has a chance to win right away, not a team that is in all out rebuilding mode (the likes of which I haven't seen in a while). We're going to have to go with a coordinator or some other HC who gets fired and tough it out. Possibilities:Jason GarrettMike MartzJosh McDanielsHerm Edwards (if fired, he's gotta be the #1 choice)Mike Singletary
bigbird
Garrett or Singletary would work for me. Edwards, too.

People here were calling for Petrinos head after 3 games...Well it looks like "those people" you refer to were CORRECT. I was one of those people and I feel certain that had good ole Bobby P decided to hang around and suck every penny out of his contract we would have sucked worse in five years than we do now. Petrino was in so far over his head that he had no idea which way was up. He was an idiot and Blank was a bigger idiot to court him and hire him to turn around this franchise. Remember during the game last night how Blank was talking about how he handled this terrible season with his son by telling him that we had reached bottom already and we were on our way up from now on? Well guess what Arthur, your son wants to talk to you about that. As do most of the fans of your "team".
Tim Parker
I don't want any of the above. I would like to see Mike Zimmer as the new head coach. He's young, a good defensive mind, and has been on the radar for a long time for an NFL coaching job. Hue Jackson is not as viable because of his relative inexperience at the coordinator level. Zimmer has played for some great coaches and would be able to turn around this team quickly.Look at all of the talent that comes off of IR next year:DT Rod ColemanOT Renardo FosterNT Trey LewisWR Brian FinneranOT Todd WeinerTE Martrez MilnerQB D. J. ShockleyWe have a fairly strong team, defensively. I think that there are a few positions that regardless of who is the head coach will have to be addressed during the off-season:QBOTDTLBCBMuch of what we can (or most likely, can't) do is going to be based on the Vick situation. I don't think it is in the best interest of the team to cut Vick. Let him ride the pine on indefinite suspension. Draft a QB for the future, sign free agents OL and DL linemen, and take chances in the draft for other positions.Leftwich is gone at the end of the season. Harrington (Petrino's whipping boy), Redmen, and Shockley are good QBs and are servicable until we can train-up a draftee. :w00t:

Carolina has gone to ****, just a higher level of ****, we get purgatory.
