falconva7
Bill Cowher, Bill Parcells, and Marty Schottenheimer will not come out of retirement to coach this trainwreck of a team. If you think they can be "bought" you are way wrong. If any coach comes out of retirement it's to coach a good team or a great player or because they coached that team in the past (a la Joe Gibbs). The fact of the matter is that we need a proven head coach. The PROBLEM is that no proven head coach who's worth having is going to want to come here and coach. We're probably going to have to go the route of the coordinator (or some coach who gets fired this year). Just off the top of my head:- Jason Garrett OC, Dallas Cowboys (very high on a lot of GMs lists right now, but I doubt Jerry Jones lets him go)- Josh McDaniels (only 31, but he's one of the great offensive minds right now)- Mike Martz (here's a guy who's won before as a HC, but will he want to come to a Falcon team with very few weapons?)- Rex Ryan (a lot of people wanted him last year as he is a defensive genius, but I think we need to get an offensive mind for our head coach)- Mike Singletary (very likely candidate to get the job, and probably one of the best LEADERS out there)
falconva7
One more candidate who is an EXTREME dark horse, but if he's released I think he's my #1 choice:Herm Edwards. Looks like things aren't going well in KC (he's 13-15 I believe) and I doubt he's released, but if he is......

Peyton
Yeah I don't agree. I don't see any reason why Bill Cowher wouldn't consider the Atlanta job, and I can't see any reason why Arthur Blank andRich McKay need to look anywhere else until Cowher turns down $10 million a year to coach here.Hire the guy before Carolina fires John Fox. The guy coaches an all pro defensive unit that my grandmother can coach. How is that defensive coach doing this year. That defense is getting blown out the water. falconva7
Peyton - I think it takes more than just money to bring a guy out of retirement, especially a coach who's done it all and won a Super Bowl and everything. Also, Cowher is working for NBC right now as a commentator, so it's not like he's broke. The whole reason he retired is his desire to spend time with his family.freakyfalcon - I don't have a love affair with Rex Ryan. This is the first time I've even mentioned him I think. He's a good coordinator, despite his players you can't deny their unique and confusing schemes that they run. True, they have the personnel, but most great coordinators do. scott24falcs
Where does Bill Cowher live right now? If I'm not mistaken, it's not far from GA, but I could be wrong.
Petrino is NOT my hero
Yaaaa... the last thing anyone should do is put anything off the table... you have NO IDEA who would consider to coach here... ****.. Cowher could want to come to Atl so he can be credited for building a team from scratch to a dynasty.. its all about how these coaches want to be remembered and what they will be willing to do in order to do that... Same Ol Falcons
If the veterans couldn't handle Petrino then they're really gonna cry when Marty, Parcells or Cowher don't let them go to their OBGYN appointment

Isn't that kind of building a team up? You think he's going to want to come here for another 14 years so he can "build a team up?" Come on now... stout
dudes, let's be serious...this job is a tough sale. That has to factor into it.I would love to see Bill Cowher. But in all reality, it will boil down to who out there will seriously consider us
bigfalconfan
Successful coaches like Dan Reeves, Wade Phillips and Jim Mora had a bad year and were either released by the Falcons or moved on before the axe fell. Blank shows patience building the corporate end, and impatience when building a football team. Petrino left before he suffered the Jim Mora syndrome. Having said this, I don't like what he did a bit. Here's my short list for Falcons Head Coach consideration:Jimmy Johnson - pay him the money to come out of retirement and build the teamMarty Schottenheimer - simply a winner and he's due to go to the SuperBowlDennis Green - players want to excel for him; a real motivatorMark Richt - I know he just signed another Georgia contract, but he's ready for the jumpUrban Meyer - like Richt, he's readyAnybody think these guys would work out/not work out? How are you going to convince those guys to come here. Schottenheimer wants to play for a ring? You think he'll win one with this team in the next 5-8 years??? Not a chance. And did you REALLY just suggest two college coaches?
Javader09
We need a proven NFL coach to handle this Train wreck. Marty was forced out in SD and has the skill needed. The only problems with him is he may not want to coach but a couple of years and he cannot advance past the playoffs. Wait being in the playoff every year would be a blessing.
