betterfalcon
There is a God...but honestly, Tuesday afternoon I emailed a friend of mine and told him that all I wanted for Christmas was for Petrino to leave for a college job and for the Falcons to hire Bill Cowher. I almost drove off the rode when I was coming home, listening to Sirius NFL radio as always, and they came up with the late-breaking report that Petrino resigned.Like Christmas came early. 1989Fan
We would have to make Cowher (BY FAR) the highest paid coach in NFL history to get him here. The only way we are going to get a coach here is to give a coordinator his first NFL chance (again), pay BIG bucks to bribe a coach here or to scoop up leftovers from teams that actually land the top tier coach. (like Maybe Fox after Cowher goes to CAR).
Tuggle'2
honestly i know everyone wants bill cohwer, but i would also state that i think marty-ball would be great as well didnt spell the last name cause i couldnt but you all know who im talking about. They both are well respected coaches. I think they both can get the most out of there players. Understand this though. Hiring either 2 of these coaches will probably set our team back another year. Due to the fact that the defense we have is not that far away from being really good in my eyes, but that they are both going to want to play 3-4 or a hybrid of the 3-4. Not thats thats bad im just saying you nee to be prepaird to wait probably 3 years instead of 2 to be really good. Another thing to keep in mind is that Blank wanted an offensive coach before, and still may want one. Marty is alittle more offenseive than bill, but bill is younger as well, and i would like to see a coach here thats going to be around for the next 8-10 years. Absolute
Adam Schefter brought up a good point. Any big name coach we attempt to get will probably want to have full power over personnel decisions. Cowher may want to be Coach/GM...that means we would have to make changes at the top for him. I am all for removing the Tampa guy and giving him personnel power.
