root down
thank god, finally a rational voice, geezNow I'm a Falcon fan and a Razorback fan. So I'm sad Petrino left, b/c I saw and believe he is a good play caller and coach, and could have rebuilt this team to be a big time competitor. As a Razorback I'm ecstatic we got a coach that can take us to the next level no doubt. Petrino was sold a bill of goods, which was: Vick=most exciting player ever to play QB. A team that was 8-8 with horrible coaching / play calling, on both sides of ball. Professional Vets with good leadership to help young players through tough times and transition.Reality: NO VICK= exposed O-line that was / is horrible. 3 average Bkups at QB. Injury decimates an already poor line making it a turnstile. Injuries decimate DT position. He has "Pro's" whinning to the press about him after a couple of games. (you don't see that with New England, those guys are Professionals) The Vet leadership didn't have his back or for that matter even give him a chance, especially considering the STAR QB was going to jail.NO rational person can blame Petrion for bolting while the getting was good. Did you guys not see the game last night. Those are mentally beaten guys out there, a few are playing hearts out even though everyone knows deep down inside they are going to lose b/c they are not a good TEAM.At least whoever we hire next will know what they are in for, Eyes Wide Open

If the situation with Vick bothered him so much he should have quit right when Vick was indicted. He shouldn't have told Blank that he wasn't going anywhere. This is the same guy who tried to steal Tommy Tuberville's job away from him a couple of years ago when the coup was attempted at Auburn. Tuberville slinked back to Louisville when the whole thing was exposed.Yeah, you got a real high character guy there. Good luck with all that. The Falcons just got better by subtraction. slamee101
I agree Statz...but I'm still shocked this guy left...and didn't even wait for the season to end! I guess he was nervous someone else would take the Arkansas job.
robbyb03
Questions:-If Petrino came here to coach Vick, is he going to Arkansas to coach D-Mac?-If D-Mac goes pro, does Petrino then bail on Arkansas?
afalconsdvd
Well this shouldn't be any sort of a surprise to anyone. If he was willing to leave what at the time was one of the best teams in the country to come coach here, why would he stay here? His word is worth about as much as vick's

root down
come on people really. Maybe the reason he didn't leave after Vick was "accused" was b/c Vick said he was innocent. Nobody knew for sure until Vick confessed. He was probably holding out hope like the rest of us.andNo, he knows DMAC is going to NFL, so no surprises thereI understand the disappointment and need to lash out guys, I'm virtually numb from all the ish this year. The best College coach my Razorbacks ever had was run out by some rabid crazy fans.take a deep breath, as I've learned recently with the coaching search for ARK, better things might be just around the bend, coaching wise, anyway.
