who was making the choices in the decade??

was it the coaches, or the GM

you can def. see the June Jones influence

but man.

first rule of drafting, you never, never draft a punter!!!! ever, and not in the 3rd round

i can see maybe drafting a kicker, in the late rounds, but a punter?????

whats even worse is that we drafte 2 punters in a 4 year span

id like to go back and look at those draft and see out of all the picks, how many were starters for a 3 year tenure and hw many were pro bowl

we only had 2 pro bowlers in that span, Brooking and Kerney

ALSO, we had some weird trades, like the one year we traded our 5th pick to the Steelers for 3 7th's?????

huh

We traded away WAYYYY too many picks. We lost value when we traded for other picks, and got washed up or already failing players when we traded for players.

I bet you in the 1990s when a GM was looking to dump a player or pick and gain value, the Falcons were #1 on the speed dial list. :doze:

yea, we traded for:

Tim McKyer-over rated,

Jeff George- 2 exciting years, but a nut job

Eric Metcalf- geat trade IMO, perfect fit for the R-S

Chris Doleman- decent DE,

Patrick Bates- who???

Chris Chandle- a steal all things considered

Tony Martin- another steal

but the one trade that Reeves goofed on was the trade where he sent our 1st round pick(forthe next year) to Baltimore for a 2nd????? again what

usually when you trade picks or trade down, you get something more in return, but we got a 2nd round value for a 1st round value, straight up, for a TE??? where we alread had one,

this one still doesnt make sense to me, no matter how many times i hear Reeves explain th e logic, should have gotten more in return, Baltimore must have been laughing when they did that one

And people wonder why we have had been so mediocre over the years. We never had an identity or solid drafts, and that is why we have been terrible. This is why getting rid of Petrino would simply further serve to keep this franchise in the bottom of the bucket. Now pull up our 2004, 2005, and 2006 drafts? 10x better than the garbage we used to have.

2004 -

1. DeAngelo Hall - One of the best CBs in the NFL

1. Michael Jenkins - Inconsistant, but a solid slot receiver

3. Matt Schaub - Great trade bait

4. DeMorrio Williams - Inconsistant, but is solid

5. Chad Lavalais - No

6. Etric Pruitt - No

7. Quincy Wilson - No

2005 -

1. Roddy White - Top 5 WR in the NFC

2. Jonathan Babineaux - Good back-up.

3. Jordan Beck - No

4. Chauncey Davis - Good back-up

5. Michael Boley - Top 5 LB in the NFL

5. Frank Omiyale - No

6. DeAndra Cobb - No

7. Darrell Shropshire - No

2006 -

2. Jimmy Williams - Possible bust

3. Jerious Norwood - Huge Playmaker

4. Quinn Ojinnake - Back-Up, I don't see him staying for long.

5. Adam Jennings - Solid Return Man and can play WR.

7. D.J. Shockley - Anything to keep those Dawg fans happy. :ermm:

What a waste of draft picks..... we better never... EVER trade away future picks for washed up players again. Unless we are trying to move back up into the 1st after picking a 1st. But it has to be an amazing player... like a Calvin Johnson/Reggie bush type player!

Yeah, but this is what we said initially about 2004. You really have to give it a few years to shake out before you can grade it historically.

Compare McKay's drafts to other team's in the league. You people do realize that other team's are not getting Pro-Bowl players every year and are not having all their draft picks make the team to be future starters right?

If you cannot tell the differences between our 1990s and early 2000's drafts and what we have had since 2004 then there isn't much hope for you.
