draftjunky
MLB Edgerton Hartwell $6,717,300What?He cant still be on our jock and if he is I think he is on the cinncinati roster so you have to subtract his earnings there from hit. atljbo
something is not right about our salary cap.......2007: $2 million (+ $2 million roster bonus)...thats what he earned,...and how can jimmy williams who was drafted in the second round makes more money then d-hall who is a top 10 pick......come on now
ignorant_icarus
I see Finneran's # is 3,713,630...so what of that does he actually get for not playing the last 2 years?
UGA Homers LOVE Van Gomer
Does this include roster bonuses or is it just base yearly salaries?I would think it would include signing bonuses but they have Ovie listed at $724,350 and he got a better bonus than that.Does this list represent cap hits or actual money paid out? It looks like cap hits.
UGA Homers LOVE Van Gomer
This list is missing Grady Jackson but has Ike Reese, Chris Cash, and Hartwell on it.We cut Jackson mid season and I'm pretty sure he's still on our books. Same Ol Falcons
triggerman (12/5/2007)I can't believe that reggie wayne gets more money than Manning and harrison??????????Manning took a huge cut so Reggie would get that money and stay
draftjunky
I would go with cap hits.Abrahams base isnt 15 million!
draftjunky
Cash is on there.I dont think hartwell is on our books anymore we signed him 4 years ago.
UGA Homers LOVE Van Gomer
draftjunky (12/5/2007)Cash is on there.I dont think hartwell is on our books anymore we signed him 4 years ago.Hartwell is on the list. We signed Hartwell to a pretty big deal. It is very possible that we still have dead money on him. These have to be cap hits because we're obviously not paying Hartwell, (or Cash), a dime this year.It would also make sense about Grady because we'll get his cap hit NEXT year. Same thing with Ovie. I think...It also helps explain the Abraham number. We signed him last year so we're seeing the big hits THIS year. That's the best I can make with these numbers. I'm thinking that since the Falcons are pretty low when it comes to national interest there may be some errors with this list.

ukfalc
This lists the monies actually received by the player last year, not their cap hits. Therefore, the players who received large signing bonuses in 2006 (which is pro-rated for cap purposes, but not for the purposes of this list) are the one who top the list. That's why player like Abe and Drew Brees (who receives large signing binuses in 2006) are high on the list, and why Jimmy Williams (who - as a rookie - received a signing bionus in 2006) is above someone like Deangelo Hall. Grim Truth
It's funny how people would say Vick's contract was handicapping the team when Abraham is making 15m... Look at how many other QB's make more then him, but still have supporting casts... It's odd that their teams can surround them with talent, or afford their contracts with talent already on the team... but Vick's salary stopped the Falcons...Brees 22mBrady 16mPalmer 15mCarr 13mMcNair 12mFavre 10mManning 10mA. Smith 9mCulpepper 8mVick 8mAnd that's not calculating all the teams that have other players paid more... Including the Colts who have three over 10m... Suddenly 8m doesn't seem so bad... Even if it does go up later... It obviously wasn't the reason this team wasn't putting talent on the team...
the_dane
I believe these numbers from fox are all wrong .... the only salery cap overview i trust is this :http://asp.usatoday.com/sports/football/nf...eam=2&year=2007These numbers looks more realistic ..... redswingline
This is not correct, D-Mo was tendered a 1.3 million contract as a RFA.

jidady
The other thing to keep in mind is that this sort of data fluctuates wildly from year to year. Some of you might remember that we had the highest payroll in football last year. We're already down to middle of the pack now. If we spend money on free agents next year, we'll be back in the top 5 again.
Killa
Team salaries bounce up and down so much year by year pending on cuts, contracts, and FA. Especially individual contracts. etc. When a player signs a long term contract, there is always guaranteed money. But for the most part these contracts now a days are so end loaded a team has no choice but to cut them or let their team salary soar by the millions each years. That is why football is great. It ensures there are no such teams like the Yankees/Mets/Red Sox in football. Also making it rare to see decade lasting dynasties.
