georgia tech's durant brooks has repeated as one of the three finalists for the ray guy award, given to college football's top punter, it was announced monday.

brooks, a senior from macon, has a career average of 45.4 yards per punt, highest in acc history. he joins cincinnati's kevin huber and toledo's brett kern as finalists for the award, which is presented dec. 6. the selection committee includes reporters, coaches, publicists and former punters.

brooks was named acc special teams player of the week on monday after averaging 60 yards on four punts against the tar heels. brooks punted a career-long 77-yarder, longest in the acc this season.

despite all the inconsistencies we've had this year, our special teams play has been very sound for the whole year.
