Big Duke 6
sam kellerqb, nebraska war room analysisstrengths: is athletic, and makes big plays with his arm and legs. shows the athleticism to avoids sacks when sensing the pressure, and shows the body control to re-set and throw accurately when scrambling. sets up and throws quickly at times. when striding into passes, can make all the nfl throws with zip and accuracy. weaknesses: in key spots, struggled to consistently make good decisions and accurate throws' threw a number of bad interceptions in important games at nebraska. does not consistently use good footwork -- will throw flat-footed with only his arm, losing accuracy and allowing defenders more time to play the ball. does not always see underneath defenders, and has too many passes tipped. was the arizona state starter as a junior but lost the job before senior season and thus transferred to nebraska -- makes us wonder about his leadership skills. is a durability risk after missing last half of senior season after injuring his left shoulder; was unable to stay healthy for a whole season in the two years as a starter. bottom line: keller is a unique prospect. he exploded onto the national scene with a great 2005 season (four td passes in each of four consecutive games) before injuring his hand and missing the last third of the season. he fell further down draft boards after an inconsistent '07 season before injuring his non-throwing shoulder. keller has the size, arm strength and athleticism to be a good nfl starter, but he must become a much more consistent passer and improve his decision-making skills.
