sporkdevil
you know your offense is in dire straights when there is a three page thread on the mb about andrew walter getting the boot.of course it is mainly about reasons not to get walter. i wouldn't take him, under any circumstance this year, unless we cut joey, put redman in his spot, and have walter at backup. ****, it is still a bad idea, we still have shockley. honestly, this year is a wash. to sign someone for this year is foolish, because it won't bring us to playoffs. we couldn't sign peyton right now, have him learn the book, and win us the games we need to go to the playoffs. and we have 2 guys getting nice contracts (but joey will be cut) for this year, one backup, and another injured guy. odds are we draft high a qb, and we would have a semi-starter (lefty) until the new qb can start, and redman/shockley as backup. really, i don't see any good reasoning to sign another qb. we will have more qb's than tb if we keep this up. how bout i bring up another bad idea (from 2 months ago): let's sign plummer! 1989Fan
if walter is waived i would be very surpised if he didnt end up here. i wonder if that roster space was made knowing this. grimes was called up just to fill the void for now.i would hope we bring him in just to see what he has. maybe he could be our derek anderson. red2play
um, no offense, but mccown was the starter in oakland before he got hurt. which means that culpepper was also beaten out by mccown, yet some folks still clamor that the falcons should have made a play for him prior to this season. regardless, i don't really think it would hurt to snatch him up if comes free, especially given his size and arm strength, not to mention leftwich track record of loving the injured list.its strange how people don't want him but its obvious the coach won't play redman because he just doesn't have the talent for the nfl but walter could possibly at least be a backup. why not give it a try? 215FalconsFanatic
2. leftwich is about as smart as a sack of hammers, and he was ready to start in 5 weeks. so, walter could be ready in about 30 minutes. (maybe a slightly overstated ).right there. you just showed your lack of football knowledge and player capabilities.
Deacon 13
right there. you just showed your lack of football knowledge and player capabilities.it's called humor and i would be willing to put my "football knowledge" to the test against anyone on this board, thanks. i aint the smartest guy in the world, i will grant you that. but football is one thing i know and thats a fact.as far as player capabilities goes, if you are a leftwich fan, i think leftwich is a "capable" qb, but to say he is the answer to the qb problem is a stretch. red2play
mccown won this year's qb challenge.... unfortunately it wasn't shown on tv because ykw participated and it was scheduled to air after he got indicted...sometimes coaches put in who they trust rather than the more gifted. lookup tom brady and drew bledsoe for a reference. drew had to have internal bleeding for tom brady to step in.it's called humor and i would be willing to put my "football knowledge" to the test against anyone on this board, thanks. i aint the smartest guy in the world, i will grant you that. but football is one thing i know and thats a fact.as far as player capabilities goes, if you are a leftwich fan, i think leftwich is a "capable" qb, but to say he is the answer to the qb problem is a stretch.i don't know if your good at football but you suck as far as humor goes and no, you aren't the most knowledgeable about football on this board. Chitown2ATL_Falcon
1. leftwich will definitely go down again.2. leftwich is about as smart as a sack of hammers, and he was ready to start in 5 weeks. so, walter could be ready in about 30 minutes. (maybe a slightly overstated ).so harrington has more football smarts than leftwich?
Deacon 13
he's the answer for 1 half every 3 weeks nice one
Deacon 13
so harrington has more football smarts than leftwich?i would say yes, but that hasn't made him a better qb. harrington=questionable arm-strength and shell-shocked, leftwich=big-armed statue, with tooth-pick ankles. falconz24/7
could it really hurt to bring walter on board? seriosuly? at this point, take a shot and see what he is. anderson was cut by baltimore, and deep on clevelands depth chart until what, week 3? how about romo, he was an afterthough on dallas's roster for sometime. you never know where you'll find talent.
