Carter
yes, bill fralic.... i love that guy and miss him very much.but anyways, i was sitting here at work when this odd memory of long ago came upon me and i just can't place it exactly. i believe it was bill fralic, but i'm not sure... i remembered this game where he (or someone) came off the bench onto the field to tackle a guy from the other team who was streaking down the sideline about to score a td.... i think the guy was taunting as he was running down our sideline.i don't know... it was a long time ago for me and i can't really remember. i'm pretty sure it was fralic... can any of you longtime falcon fans help me out here??? londonfalcon
in jerry glanvilles book, he said in a houston play off game he wanted to tackle a wr running in front of him for a td. he said he would have stopped the td, probably been ejected but it would have been worth it! not sure if that is what you are thinking off??? Born-a-Falcon
i remember after fralic retired the 49ers tried to get him to come out of retirement to play for them he was quoted as saying "real men don't eat sushi and real men don't play for the 49ers". i thought that was great at the time because i hate the 49ers. savannah ga
sorry guys, that was the head coach for ohio state in the 70's against clemson where the coach came off the sidelines and close lined one of the clemson players after he made a game changing interception. jonnyblooz
savannah. you're thinking of woody hayes who punched the other team player after the game ending int.there was a player who came off the sidelines to tackle a player running past, but this was many years ago like the '60s. never happened with the falcons.my fralic story: in 1987 the nfl players went on strike. all the players picketed the stadiums during the replacement player games. we went to the game and was going around meeting all the falcons who were hanging out with their wives and kids "picketing". my brother in law and i approached bill fralic and he asked for an autograph, bill asked if we were going in to the game and then refused an auto. my bil, argued with him on this and fralic refused because we were paying to support the "scabs" who were acting as real players. we made it clear to him that as season ticket holders, we had actually paid him to be on the field and not only that but drove 500 miles round trip every home game to see him standing outside drinking beer with his buddies.he signed the auto. delaigle
i sort of remember that but i don't think it was a falcons game.i do remember that actually happening and i believe it was after 68, and i'm not sure but i am almost positive it was a falcon game and falcon player coming off the bench and i believe it was a home game. but i remember it being late afternoon just before dark????the other memory that i that i have but that i can't recall which players were involved - was when 2 falcon running backs got into a fight on the field while the qb was actually under center calling the play, does anyone remember that one? sogafalc
it was in the 70's when woody hayes from ohio state closelined a clemson player who had just intercepted a pass and would have returned it for a touchdown if it had not been for hayes. i believe he retired after that season. jgsbirds
my fralic story goes like this...my best friend named his dog "fralic."we go to watch the falcons one year at sewanee before the season started and ran into fralic at the teams headquarters. i say hey fralic--my best friend named his dog after you...he says, "oh yeah," what kind of dog is it? i say it's a chow...he goes, "ok." and that was it.it was like if the dog was a poodle i think he would have came after us. edzeppelin
happened in '54 cotton bowl when an alabama player came off the sidelines and tackled a rb from rice.i think the refs gave him a td.tommy lewis tackled dicky moegle on what could have been a 95 yard td.
