djnowhere
first off, let me say that i'm not going to sit here and be a hater like so much of this board. i love the falcons, i have all my life, through the bad times and the few good times. there were some really good things that happened today and if you missed them than you're just looking for the bad things. one thing i do want to talk about though is our o-line. yes, everyone notices that it is a major problem for us. one thing though that i think alot are missing though is that there are certain situations that expose them more than others. in many cases, when in passing situations, they do a good job of standing up the defensive linemen when it's just one on one. problems show up though when the defense brings the blitz, especially their lb's. it is our inability to pick up these guys that are very often getting to the qb. it is this ability to stand guys up that is also stunting our rush. in these circumstances, we should be able to move those men to create holes and that is why dunn and norwood are getting stuffed more often than not... but that's a different story. Brian Hunt
it's a problem of athleticism. these guys don't have the power and range to block man to man. the zone scheme worked better because they didn't have to find a guy and then slide out to get him. they could just block their area. maxatlanta
if you really want to be objective about it- our pass blocking is better this year than it was last year. it's not a matter of our old line being better for a mobile qb. that mobile qb just made our old line look a bit better than it was. last year people were in the qbs face instantly. this year the qb at least has a few of seconds. (suprisingly, blalock seems to be playing the worst of all)

djnowhere
so other than passing situations and running situations, we've got pretty good offensive linemen?no i'm saying we're doing pretty well in passing situations when they are not blitzing their lb's. running... no. the other team is using our linemen to clog up the holes.
