so from people who can actually watch games

i only get to see the national games or games against ny teams, so for those who can watch every game, i'm kinda wondering what the story is with alge... and i don't mean why isn't he putting up his usual numbers, the answer to that is obvious.

but, all i've heard are people saying he's slower than **** and dropping everything. obviously he probably misses michael vick right now more than anyone on this team because if he were still our starting qb he'd be putting up his usual numbers.

so here's my question, answer it based on your observations...

is his play this year soley a result of not having vick, is he overweight and is that the reasoning behind his lack of speed, does he just need to get in shape for next yr and he'll be fine... or has that knee surgery slowed him down significantly? i guess i'm just praying this doesn't mean he's starting what looks like a steep decline, it'd be a real shame if it were true.

at the same time, it's a real shame that we'll never get to see again a vick 2 crumpler connection, man did those 2 have some seriously amazing chemistry.

personally, i think it's a combination of a few things. joey wasn't looking for crump too often, and hung him out to dry when he did. his knee does still seem to be bothering him also

yea i mean i expected his numbers to go down without vick, and after watching joey never throwing the ball further than 2 yds or to the wr closest to him and always ensuring the guy he throws it to gets laid the ###### out immediately after catching it i expected even less. it's the people saying he looks fat and slow that worry me. i just hope that knee surgery isn't killing his career as one of the best players this team has ever had.

he has not looked like the old alge. he used to appear quick while still being large and powerful...and now he honestly looks like an undersized offensive lineman. he appears to be moving slower. he also dropped two or three passes on monday night....much to my dismay. he is usually pretty sure handed.

he also seems to be becoming a distraction around the locker room. calling out his coach publically and speaking out about leftwich becoming the starter bothers me.

i don't think that we need him anymore. maybe we can get a third for him in the offseason.

i actually think the drops late in the game were a result of not being involved in the game earlier.. when players aren't involved in the first three quarters.. its pretty much a known thing that they are not going to be top notch in crunch time.. thats why its good to spread the ball around and keep everyone in a groove..

granted about the getting involved thing...but we only flowed well in 1 meaningful drive...its tough to get people involved when we are 3 and out so much.

alge makes great catches, makes great plays - sometimes.

sometimes...

alge sucks. he drops easy balls. he is fat. he is slow.

i don't know.

he has turned from a dependable receiver into a high-risk/high-reward receiver.

i would choose to not throw to him too much these days.

his numbers were always inflated because vick looked for him first. he was always over-rated, and now it has become obvious. he had a good series of games a few years ago, but really he is all hype. he is another waaaay overpaid player that isn't producing for us, and therefore draggin us down.

it's defintely a combination of things.. he's not getting that many balls to make plays.. he was vick's favorite target.. petrino's offense is more of a spread offense, so a lot of the time in 4-5 receiver sets crump is not in to begin with.. petrino's offense is also a get the ball to playmakers quickly and let them make plays.. well, crump isn't really a yards after catch guy.. i remember petrino trying to get crump the ball quickly on screens in the flat.. obviously didn't work out too well.. he doesn't seem overweight to me, looks like his usual self.. the knees are definitely limiting his speed and agility.. he has dropped some easy passes, but he did that a little bit last year as well.. still one of the better tight ends in the game.. a few years back he was top 3.. now i say maybe top 10

crump dropped a lot of balls last season also but he did turn things around and had a great season. this season he's having to ajust to balls thrown behind him and low or short jump balls with lbs on his azzzz.

thats it, because vick and his uncanny accuracy put the the ball between the numbers every time. get real, vick's one hops may have come close to his chest, but crump laid out constantly to catch those seemingly uncatchable balls, but that was in years past.

looks like crumps mouth is working harder off the field than he is on the field.

i loved how jaws kept pointing out that the players like crumpler who were complaining the most were the ones dropping balls and playing poorly.

everyone is beginning to notice. crumpler has dropped more balls than he has caught. can't get the new orleans drop out of my head from last year, ugh.

i think it has alot to do with the fact that there is nobody spying the qb. the guy that was supposed to keep an eye on last seasons qb can now be used to take away throwing lanes in the middle.

guys hate to admit it, but last seasons qb opened alot of things on offense. unfortuneately he was unable to capitolize.
