If I could, I would sign a FA QB just to shut some of these people up about QB @ 4.

He didn't bring any wins.  When are these guys going to get it?  AB wants wins.

Upside is a worthless thing to chase.  You get burned by chasing someones upside far more often than they ever reach that “upside”.

You also don’t draft someone top 5 on “upside”, you draft someone there on production, traits, football IQ, proven play against NFL level competition, being plug and play to make an impact day one.  Lance is purely a projection and hope he reaches his ceiling.

I’ll go on record saying we will look back at this class in a year or two similar to 2018 and realize it was over hyped because there were no defensive players worthy and mixed opinion on who QBs 3-5 are.  Of the five, there will be more busts than hits.  You say there isn’t much doubt they will all be good, I’d say there is plenty of doubt for all three.

Vick was a hit? For those who love to watch QBs run he thrilled and dazzled for sure, but I expect more than some whiz bang shaboom running plays on Sports Center from my QB.
We had 38 wins in 6 seasons under Vick with better defenses than Ryan has had before we all got the Bad Newz. That's an average of 6.33 wins per season for his 6 seasonz here, his completion percentage only 52.2 and his total passing yards only 11,505 for his 6 years, an average of less than 2000 passing yards per season. His QB stats were pedestrian at best.
So with the very 1st pick in the entire draft, we got 6 years of what?  We passed over Drew Brees, LaDanian Tomlinson, Duece McAllister, Rudi Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Chad Johnson, Chris Chambers, Matt Light, Steve Smith, Richard Seymour, Chris Jenkins,......I mean, there were dozens of players that I would consider hits in the 2001 draft, but Vick is not one of them, not at the #1 pick of entire draft.
It's weird because so many here say you shouldnt draft a RB at any place in round 1 because they only last 6 years, but we drafted Vick #1 overall, he lasted only 6 years and some claim he was a big hit and worth it.
I suppose I just disagree, I would have rather drafted Drew Brees or a host of other players that year.

We have to be careful.  If we get a player like Montez Sweat and a boatload of picks, we need to defer some picks to 2022 and 2023.  We do have that cap thing that can bite us in the ***.

disagree that a great TE isn't worth as much as a wr.  I'd take Travis Kelce over just about any wr.  And the fact that they don't cost as much makes them even more valuable.

NorthGaBoy reacted to BLM in SMH Falcons drafting TE at 4th...Really BAD start for new Regime
If Falcons draft Kyle Pitts at 4th, this regime is already doomed.  While I am in the camp that would like to see us draft Fields or Lance and ideally Fields, with Ryan's restructure, it just doesn't completely make sense to draft a QB.  So I am open to drafting at another position.

But a TE?  Come on man!

I don't care how good a TE is, a TE is not worth more than a WR.  Just look at player salaries.  The top WRs earn about $10M more than TEs.  There is 0, I mean 0, justification to draft a TE when you can grab someone like Chase, Waddle or Smith.  0 rationale.  A 3rd WR can run routes in the middle and can run any route a TE can.  Just look at the Rams and their 3 WR set.  Or the Packers.  Many good offenses don't have a dominant TE but instead know how to get a 3rd WR involved.   And with Julio Jones imminent retirement, a WR just makes sense.  TEs are like RBs.  Only transcendent players are worth a 1st rounder.  Top talents should only be had in the early second round.
Additionally, TEs take a while to develop.  I am talking 2 or 3 years.  WRs can make an impact in their first year.  Just look at the TEs drafted in the 1st, and their production in the first few years.  Noah Fant, Evan Engram, OJ Howard, Hayden Hurst, etc... All of these guys have had more hype than production.   Unless Pitts is a transcendent TE, there is absolutely 0 reason to draft him in the first round.  0.  If we restructure Ryan, that means our goal is to win now.  Drafting a TE in the first is NOT a win now move.  It's bad if you commit to Ryan, won't draft a QB, but instead end up drafting a TE, which basically suggests that you are still looking to win 3 years out as opposed to today, but choose a position of MUCH LESS importance.  If we need more weapons on offense, WR is the only choice if the goal is to win now.
And guess what, Pitts is NOT a transcendent TE.  Do you know why that is?  Well, a TE is a TE because a TE can block.  Pitts cannot block.  Read any scouting report, and it'll say that Pitts has issues in pass protection.  He is just ok at run blocking.
What this means is that Pitts is a large sized, glorified WR, and not a true TE.  Why draft a large WR, when you can draft an actual WR?  An actual WR will be much better at catching, route running, and gaining separation.  It's one thing if Pitts blocking ability makes up for not having elite route running.  But Pitts doesn't have that blocking ability.
If Falcons draft Kyle Pitts in the 1st, that along with hiring Chicago Bears OC and QB coaches (Bears have yet to develop a QB or run any sort of creative offense), along with Blank/McKay only planning to hire a coach that was willing to keep Ryan around (despite their misleading public statements), are already laying the groundwork for another average 5 years before we inevitably find another new coaching regime.

I can't imagine any front office not being on the same page this close to draft day. My guess is, the team really wants to complete any trade they make before the draft even begins, so they can solidify their draft board.
Maybe this type of 'leak' will prompt teams to get down to brass tacks and get a deal done.

Well you know that can be all true. However, we know from listening to TF and AS that no one leaked Lance as the pick if that's who they want.
It can be true that TF is after a QB and MR has two or more years left.
Nowhere did it say "AS doesn't want a QB." This is all smoke and mirrors. You know TF and AS are in each other's pocket and it's a lock they are on the same page about what they want to do.
