I am comprehending what you are saying. But like I said, focusing on the first part of the season, the Vikes only scored off of Turnovers. Every time we managed to punt or score the defense created a stop.
    That cannot be ignored
Week 2, you said it yourself, the defense saved a game Matt Ryan threw 3 picks.

    That cannot be ignored
You are essentially making the case that the defense was bleeding points and the offense couldn't keep pace which I agree with for weeks 5-7, and half of week 8.
But weeks 1-4, the offense was in a manageable game that either they pissed away (4 TOs in week 1) or that they just could not get anything going. (10 points against the Titans is the Defenses fault?)
You throwing out Peyton, how many games did he win scoring only 10 points?

Its the same concept as 007 casually throwing out how Matt can have a 3-5 int game and we still manage to win. That actually happened. The defense won a game that the offense struggled but played decent enough to win. Complementary football.
My position is based on "what stats dont reveal is vital" as was quoted in the OP.
    For instance:
Using what happened in the games, not hypotheticals, when the offense turned the ball over, the number of scoring opportunities increased for the opposition and decreased for us. That has nothing to do with the defense.
When our offense turned the ball over in our half of the field, the odds of scoring went up tremendously for the opposition.
When the defense created a 3 and out it should have produced  momentum for the offense, but our offense would not respond with a sustained drive. That resulted in more Time of Possession for the other team and less momentum for our defense and offense.
Finally, to the rush yards. If your offense has nothing going for them and isnt putting up any points or at least controlling field position, then the opposition (say the Titans right, with probably the best ground attack in the NFL) were able to lean on their run game, meaning the defense couldnt attack said lesser QB and make him uncomfortable.
Any team that can run the ball due to playing with a lead, with no threat of the other team scoring, that team can lean on PA and when that happens, on any level of football, it becomes extremely difficult to defend that team.
Thats the game within the game
The point was and is. Stats dont tell the whole story. But I draw a different conclusion than 007 from reading in between the lines

    It did not.
Your point that we were trailing all of the time is misleading.
The offense was given a deficit to START the game only once out of the first 4 games. This is why I added the links to each game because we can speak in general terms and say yeah we were outscored and playing from behind and its sounds good.
But we had the ball either 0-0 or within one score for multiple possessions early and the offense shot themselves in the foot and sputtered and did nothing to help the team get out the gates.
Complimentary football was the term. Starting games with multiple 3 and outs, turnovers, miss fgs, etc.... those are facts of what happened. Not stats, trends ir hypotheticals, but things that actually occurred.

The Defense was dealt just as BS of a hand as the offense was and sometimes even worse. Whats the stat on what happens when defenses have to go back on the field after a 3 and out or a turnover by the offense?
Without looking, Im telling you its not good. And we were true to that.
Again, weeks 5-8 I will concede, the Defense fell off a cliff. Bad.
But weeks 1-4 they played decent enough for us to win, even close games, if the offense would have just held on to the ball and extended a few drives even without them resulting in TDs.

    Heard OP
I would like to point out that  dividing up the season like this hides The fact that the offense was not good at all weeks 1-4 as opposed to weeks 5-8.
We did not play well as a TEAM to start the year but in particular, the offense only averaged 17.5 ppg to start the season which is not tops anywhere.
If you just look at the drives to start games, the "myth" was more factual during the 1st 4 games than it was the next 4.

    Week 1 against Vikes https://www.espn.com/nfl/playbyplay?gameId=401127961
    first 7 Falcons offensive possessions:
    Blocked Punt
    Int
    Punt
    Punt
End of Half on 3rd down
    Interception
    Punt
Score before offense wakes up: 28-0, (Final 28-12)

    Outlier? Maybe not

    Week 2 Eagles Game
    https://www.espn.com/nfl/game/_/gameId/401128124
     first 4 possesions:
Made FG (up 3-0, our defense holds the Eagles scoreless the next 3 drives)
    Punt
    Punt
Miss FG (Eagles tie game on shorter field. Score: 3-3)
    final score (W24-20)

    Week 3 versus Colts https://www.espn.com/nfl/playbyplay?gameId=401127929
    first 3 offensive possessions:

    Punt
    Interception
    FG (Score 13-3)
Score before offense wakes up: 20-3, final 27-24 (we make stops and outscore them 21-7 down stretch)
The worse thing about this game (besides losing Keanu) was the defense letting the Colts march down the field before halftime. That was bad, but the offense was still stuck in neutral  before waking up after the half so it didnt help.

    Week 4 vs Titans https://www.espn.com/nfl/game/_/gameId/401128016
    first 6 offensive possessions:
    Punt
    TD (score 7-7)
    Fumble
    Punt
    Turnover on Downs
    Missed FG (Score 24-7)

    Final Score 24-10

The defense was not great but the offense was sleepwalking to start the year and did not start games well at all. They rarely grew the few leads the defense preserved.
To be clear, the next 4 games are inexcusable for the defense. They were terrible. But by that point the team was panicking and searching for answers.
The offense was in fact a very real problem for us the first quarter of the season, especially to start games. We lost before we even made it to halftime most weeks.
The Myth is not a Myth after all if you ask me.

Which is exactly the point of the post, 12 of those turnovers from game 1-8 happened when trailing for eternity. The remaining turnovers were the Eagles game, Matt has one of those weird 3-5 pick outlier games you win anyway. When Morris took over, the Offense didn't have to play half the snaps trailing by couple of scores, because Defense was doing decent job. One unit playing at historic dumpster levels unbalances the team.

I don't think that's true. On the simple fact that the defense was clearly improved post bye week. Didn't allow a touchdown in 8 quarters after the bye week. You really think if the offense matches turnovers from the first 8 games that this team finishes 2-14?

I am ready for some real NFL action, but I figured its time to bust some myths on TATF with so many **** stats thrown around. This quote sums it up and one of my favorites.
"Statistics are like bikinis. What they reveal is suggestive, but what they conceal is vital." ― Aaron Levenstein
How important is Raheem Morris for this team? What are the minimum expectations for Defense going into the season, even assuming the Offense doesn't improve from 2019? Let's leave the high-level meaningless stats like yards/game Blah blah and dig deeper. My biggest gripe about basic stats is they don't always capture the ebbs and flows of the game and how each unit, Defense, Offense, and ST impact the game.
Let's compare the 2019 Week 1-8 and Week 9-16 before setting expectations for Raheem Morris's defensive unit.
Situation: The game is tied, or the score is 0-0.
Game 1-8: Score tied or 0-0
Defense: Number of Plays: 62, Scoring Drive%(% of Drives opponents scored): 64%, Drives ended by Falcons D turnover%: 9%. TD Drive %: 45% , Punt forced %: 27%. Needless to say, all theses metrics are worst or top 5 worst in the NFL.
Offense: Plays: Number of plays: 83, Scoring Drive %: 50%, tied for 7th in NFL with Patriots. Drives ended by Falcons Offensive turnover: 0%, TD Drive%: 25 (Ranked 13th). Punts by Offense: 41%. Most of the categories are top 10, worst case top 15.
Myth: Offense turned the ball over in the first eight games, which made Defense struggle. The Offense when the score was tied or 0-0, didn't turn the ball over. One area of Improvement is Scoring rushing TD in the Red zone. But if anything, Offense did its job being in top 10 or top 15.
How does this compare to Playoff teams like SFO, KC, SEA, Aints with the score tied? .. SFO scored on 47% of the drives, better TD ratio of 35%. SFO defense gave up scores on only 16% drives and TD on 8% drives. Points scored TD on 16% drives, but the Aints D allowed TD on 8%. KC Chiefs scored on 40% drives and TD on only 20% drives by Offense. Chiefs ST scored multiple touchdowns. SEA scored on 15% drives and 0 TD. But the SEA defense allowed TD on 22% of drives.
The Offense is already on the Blackfoot before the ball is kicked off as the Defense couldn't hold anyone. The Falcons 2016 historic offense would fall short.
The Offense had a lead for 45 snaps, most of them in eagles game in the first eight games. The opposing offenses had an easy path to taking the lead.
Game 1-8: Falcons Trailing by single score(1-8 points). A score here by Defense would make it a two-score game. What did the D do?
Defense: Number of Plays: 126, Scoring Drive%(% of Drives opponents scored):75%(Worst in NFL), Drives ended by Falcons D turnover%: 0% (Worst). TD Drive %: 43% (Bottom 3) , Punt forced %: 27%. (Bottom 4). The defensive crap show continues when the Defense needs to get a stop and stop the leading from going to two scores.
Offense: Number of plays: 99 Scoring Drive %: 33% (Missed FGs anyone?). Drives ended by Falcons Offensive turnover:13%(Top 11), TD Drive%: 33.3%(Ranked 8th). Punts by Offense: 46%(24th). More missed goals, more sacks more fumbles and pressure on Offense as the Defense gives up the score on 75% drives to make it a two-score game.
Myth: Falcons turnovers on Offense gave the bigger lead to other teams. The Offense was still top 8 in TD%, but punts went up with higher sacks as Offense was forced to do something on every snap. The wonder boy, Shanny's Offense, had 31.25% turnover % in a similar situation. The TD% for 49ers offense was 37.5%, same as the SFO defense forcing 37.5% turnover drives. The Niners D never gave up a TD and forced turnovers to give their Offense short field to tie the game or take the lead.. Same with Vikings, 30% turnover% on Offense, but the Defense just gave up 12% TD. Other teams like Rams, Dallas, who had a better record in the first eight weeks, had much higher turnover% than Falcons offense but well short of the historic dumpster fire.
Game 1-8: Falcons Trailing by two scores(9-16 points). A score here by Defense would put the game away...
Defense: Number of Plays: 150, Scoring Drive%(% of Drives opponents scored):47%, Drives ended by Falcons D turnover%: 0% (Worst). TD Drive %: 36% (Bottom 4) , Punt forced %: 52%. The Defense is still the bottom of the barrel, even when the other team is just trying to run the clock off and make it a three-score game.
Offense:Number of plays: 197, Scoring Drive %: 45%. Drives ended by Falcons Offensive turnover:27%, TD Drive%: 27% Punts by Offense: 22% . This is where the offensive disaster starts, more sacks, more fumbles, and more interceptions. The Falcons were trailing on 6/8 Ryan's interception and 5/8 interceptions when the falcons were down by two or more scores. Same with the fumbles...
In Comes Raheem Morris and the transformation begins...
Game 9-16: Score tied or 0-0
Defense: Number of Plays : 57, Scoring Drive%(% of Drives opponents scored): 33%(6th best in NFL), Drives ended by Falcons D turnover%: 11%. TD Drive %: 22% (15th in NFL) , Punt forced %: 55%(8th best in NFL). Huge improvement after Raheem Morris/Ulbrich took over with more traditional front and mixing coverages in the backend without single high safety.
Offense:Plays : Number of plays: 126, Scoring Drive %: 62.5%, 5th in NFL. Drives ended by Falcons Offensive turnover: 0%, TD Drive%: 25 (Ranked 12th). Punts by Offense: 37.5%. Hardly any significant change from Game 1-8.
Myth: Offense turned the ball less in the last eight games, and Defense was put in a position to win..The Offense pretty much remained the same with minor improvements, mostly because Ryan missed part of Rams game and Seahawks game.
The Defense doesn't need to be top 5 or top 10, a top 15 Defense under Raheem Morris to start the game or a tie game is good.
Game 9-16: Score Trailing by one or two scores:
Defense: Long story short the Defense in different categories ended up in the top 12-15.
Offense: Not much of difference in offensive rankings compared to game 1-8.
TLDR: The Defense is the first eight games was so terrible, even the historic falcons' offense from 2016 would have a hard time winning the games. The Offense didn't turn the ball over till they started forcing the ball to erase 1-3 or more score deficit. The Offense was pretty much the same throughout, improvements in Defense from the historic dumpster to middle of the pack D was enough to win games. The Weird thing about Ryan was throwing picks in games with big leads and being aggressive. DK should run Gurley with a big lead and run the clock out. There are outliers like the Vikings game or Eagles games but the trend is pretty consistent with the Defense in first 8 games.

Offense needs to make improvements and addition of Gurley and a Healthy OLine will help. Another wasted year because of crappy defense in 2019, hopefully even a decent average defense shows up in 2020.

Yes let’s just keep taxes and have everybody get thing for free without having to pay for it.  There are plenty of scholarships out there.  Can’t get a scholarship? Well unless you are a total slack ***  in HS  you can get Hope in Georgia.  It’s extremely easy to do so. Many other states also off this. Hope alone covers most of a students tuition.  Add on a Pell Grant also a very easy low income scholarship to apply for and receive.  It’s a myth that student loans are this insurmountable debt mountain that no one can pay pay.  They are very low interest and require only a small monthly payment.  I had one and paid it off.  If you have $100k in student loan debt because you received a degree in political science or some other useless degree then that is on you.
If these constitute “too many hoops to jump through” for someone seeking a degree then they don’t deserve one.

When Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. Hearing of this, the crowds followed him on foot from the towns. 14 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.
As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.”
Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away.  You give them something to eat.”
“We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered.
“Tell them to get off their lazy a**es and work for their food,” he said.
