I’ll be the first to admit that draft night I was a little miffed that we had missed opportunities to pick up better players - Wyatt Davis and Bobby Brown are 2 that jump out to me now - but the more I’ve read and heard about the dudes in this class the more I’m impressed with these guys and TF and the entire staff.

Mayfield and Dalman were about as perfect fits as we could have hoped for. Mayfield could start inside or out, could push others, gives us depth, may allow us to move McGary inside and give him a 2nd chance - who knows. Dalman could do the same inside and push Henny.

All the defensive selections, may not be sexy or even get that many snaps, but think all of them can be developed and have great upside.

Correct and that’s what I’ve come to realize with this draft class. I remember thinking - we need an LG, Davis was available and arguably top 3 pure OG in the class - but he wouldn’t have been able to push McGary or provide depth at that position. That added versatility is what made the pick of Mayfield better in my eye.

I hate analysis sometimes. One description says he's powerful another says he needs to work on strength. He's only 20 though.

WestGAFalcon reacted to Al Bruce in Romfal's 2.0 Mock Draft - Stay at 4, no QB
Solid mock. I am not sure it will be Ojulari, but I think you are right to peg an edge rusher to us at 35 (assuming we stay there) because I suspect someone from the cluster of mid to late rd-1 edge guys will be the BPA at 35.
The Penei Sewell v. Kyle Pitts debate is a good one.  I am in the Kyle Pitts camp, but understand the interest in Sewell.  As many have pointed out, you cannot evaluate Pitts as a traditional TE because that is not how he was used in college and won't be how he is used in the NFL.  More importantly though, I push back against the notion that this team has "plenty of weapons" on offense.  Julio Jones is 32 and we are now playing a 17-game schedule after a season where he only played 9 games due to injury.  The offense is a lot easier to defend when Julio is not on the field, and at his age will be increasingly prone to injury.  Ridley is a very good player, but he is not someone who keeps opposing defensive coordinators up at night by himself.  Gage is a solid #3 receiver and Hurst is a solid TE, but again, those are not guys who create mismatches and consistently win one-on-one battles.  We don't have a home-run threat at RB either.  Yes, the offensive skill group is the strongest part of this roster, but we had more skill talent in 2016 and 2017 than we do now.  I see Kyle Pitts doing for Matt Ryan's career what Alvin Kamara did for Drew Brees.  Also, Pitts becomes the eventual #1 receiving option replacement for Julio Jones beyond 2021.

WestGAFalcon reacted to V-Town Falcon in Kyle Pitts: The Falcons will draft the future Hall of Famer in 2021
I know we really need a pass rusher, but none of the talent in this year's draft is worth taking a shot at with pick #4. If we traded down, I wouldn't mind looking at Paye from Michigan or one of the edge rushers from Miami. It's rare that we have such a high draft pick and I really want to hit this one out of the park. On that note, I think Pitts should be that player.

WestGAFalcon reacted to usmcdirtybird in On a percentage scale, where do you stand on these two scenarios?
The Jets are the lynch pin to this whole thing.  If they take a QB then someone will come up from 4 very thirsty for one of the QBs.  If they go another direction with two available then Miami gets the wealth at 3.

WestGAFalcon reacted to MAD597 in Any word on TD firing?
Because regardless of who the HC, DC or OC is we ALWAYS have issues with the DL and OL. Our team always has issues sacking the QB and issues protecting the QB. This is through 2 different Head Coaches and literally dozens of different OC's and DC's. The only constant is TD
It is quite obvious TD is not capable of building a good DL or OL, plus now we are in serious cap **** thanks to TD. The OL and DL issues should have got him fired long ago.

Must be Ryans fault that he's been backed by historically bad defenses the majority of his career. If the Ravens drafted Ryan instead of Flacco he would have 3 super bowls at least and Lamar Jackson would be on a different team because Ryan would still be winning there.

Chaisson has a **** good 2nd move and a spin at that.He can be used off of either DT to stunt and still has the capability to win on the edge.
I haven’t even thrown in the ability to play every LBing positions and being another blitzer like Morris showed last year with Debo while not dropping anything in coverage.
See right there I’ve mentioned a multitude of options Chaisson can be used to help this defense.
I don’t dislike Kinlaw but I believe if deployed properly Chaisson could be that real chess piece this defense is missing while still potentially adding a Gallimore Blacklock or an Elliot to help Jarrett inside.
For me Simmons is the #1 chess piece then followed by Chaisson.

Fair, I feel a lot will also depend what defense we are going to be running next year as well and what personnel we will need to make it work if it is that different.  I could deal with a big DT with NE's 2nd or ours in the third.
