Okay dude if you think that what happened was just some Houdini Shat that was just made up and never was reported, no one was ever suspended or lost draft picks then you are just as Phucked up in the Noggin as I thought you were. Phuck off!

Ahhhh, nasty language! The endgame for those that have nothing else to say...

Crying about it doesn't make it true. You Flat Earth Society folks really are a peculiar bunch. You believe things that aren't their like Bigfoot, Nessie, faked moon landings, etc, but refuse to believe scientifically proven facts.

    Bravo!

Pretty easy when you play in the worst division in football for 15 years and get an almost automatic 8 wins every year...then if they are only average they win enough to get byes and home field. It's a joke.

Their winning % is higher OUTSIDE of their division. Your argument was debunked years ago.

Too good? Giving a Franchise way too much credit when you get caught cheating. Doesn't help that the Refs not call one holding the whole second half. I call BS

The only "cheating" the Patriots have ever done was have 1 camera out of position for a few minutes of a single game. Real fans know that. Band wagon, Johnny-Come-Latelys are the only ones who bring up nonexistent cheating allegations. I bet the team you rooted for this year will be different from the one you root for next year. Booooooooo!

I think there is something to it, but that's just me. There seems to be a number of fluke plays in the SB. I am thinking that it mainly has to do with adrenaline and nerves. Last SB we had the whiff block by Freeman and the insane catch by Edelman. That's true that the Steelers put up a lot of points. They also have the Brown and Bell. Not to mention some strong WRs that can play physical.

I am hoping there are some good changes this season. I don't believe there will be a "big splash" acquisition this season. All in all if we clean up the offensive errors and get everyone on the offensive staff in sync we can be contenders again.

Hope you guys get it sorted out. I'd rather see the Falcons in the playoffs than the Panthers or any team in the NFCE.

I agree. If Jags D is vulnerable anywhere it's against the run. NE implements a "death by 1000 cuts" technique perfectly. NE is proficient at getting, the one player the other team didn't account for, the ball. However Jags have the front four to apply pressure on Brady consistently. I think that's what'll be the difference maker in that game. I think Jags have enough speed in their LB core to matchup on NE's RBs.

Not to mention they have Belichick's "Kryptonite" on the other side of the field in the form of Coughlin. The Jaguars are almost a mirror image of those NYG teams.

Yeah, the Coughlin Effect. My brother is a Giants fan, so I hear about it often...

There may be something to that, I don't know. However, I like to think those losses were the result of the luckiest catch in SB history. The "helmet catch." Samuel also had an easy INT go right through his hands. In the 2nd SB Welker dropped a tough pass that he normally would catch. At least those are things I tell myself. :-)

Truth be told, I'm glad he's not on the sideline. Still, the Steelers put up 42 and the 49ers put up 44. Bills held them to 10. That's how I'm going to choose to look at things.

On another note, big changes in Atlanta in the offseason?

I disagree with some of that assessment. Despite NE having the better rushing stats, I don’t believe they have a more dangerous rushing attack than the Steelers.

During the regular season NE’s offense is a 70/30 split between run and pass. Of their 4,418 passing yards, 49% of their receiving yards came from Gronk/Cooks. Jaguars defense ranks 21st in rushing defense, and 1st in passing defense. So the matchup favors Jags defense.

I also believe that Jags defense has the ability to matchup up with Pats’ playmakers very well. If I were the Jags I would man up Ramsey on Gronk. I would also play their smaller WRs very physical, and bump them when they come off the line. This could disrupt their timing and lead to mistakes. Jags have the ability to matchup really well with the Pats offense.

Conversely Pats are middling in defense both against the run and pass. So I think we see a healthy dose of Fournette and more Bortles scrambling. These matchups don’t in any way guarantee victory but it appears to be in the Jags’ favor.

I had a similar conversation with a Steelers' fan before the AFCCG last year. Yes, Bell is superior to any RB on the Patriots. However, it's Bell then nothing. Pitt has several options at WR, but in NE anyone could get the ball at anytime. It could be Gronk, Amendola, Hogan, Cooks (who underachieved this year), White, Burkhead, or Lewis. Again, no one (except Gronk) who is a superstar like AB, but it gives Brady more options. When teams double Gronk, any of the others will be open.

You're correct about playing man and jamming the NE receivers at the line. That worked for Atlanta last year until they got gassed. However, the better the defense, the more success Brady has. Here's the explanation, if your interested... https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/fancy-stats/wp/2018/01/15/patriots-tom-brady-is-a-freak-and-jaguars-defense-will-only-make-him-better/?utm_term=.74e87d9319d4

NE will score their points. They always do. The key will be the play of Bortles. It doesn't take much to get him rattled. Buffalo's average defense made him look silly. The Jags played their SB last Sunday.

Not so sure he gets by that Jags defense?

Pittsburgh put up 42 points. Compared to the Steelers, the Patriots have a better rushing attack, a better passing attack, a better (and smarter) QB, score more point/game, allow fewer points/game, are focused on the Jags (not who they'll be playing in MN), no one grousing about contracts, sitting out, retiring, no one trash talking, a coaching staff that can adjust on offense and defense, a head coach that prepares for every possibility, understands clock management and situational football, and doesn't poop his pants in big games.

Not sayin' NE will will... Just sayin'...

This is more ESPN "much Ado about nothing" garbage. No coincidence that all this "huge news" stuff waited until a day or two before the playoffs started to bump their numbers for coverage.

But the rubes keep eating up this tripe.

B$PN lost what little credibility due to their Deflategate lies. 200 layoffs... You are correct.

And the 5th - playing in an absolute garbage division for a decade.

NE's winning % outside the AFCE is higher than the % in the AFCE. NE has dominated every division for years. The only teams that give NE trouble are CAR, SEA, KC, and NYG.

Remember how it used to be on this board and in NFL circles all about John Harbaugh and Joe Flacco and the Ravens and how Ozzie Newsome was one of the  best GM's in football? I think the shine has worn off the Ravens since their SB win in 2012. Since then they've made the playoffs just once (2014) and went 1-1. Their regular season record since the start of the 2013 season is 40-40. Joe Flacco continues to turn in average after average after average season and they're paying him how much? Wow!! Check out these seasons, as bad as Matt Ryan gets roasted on here, could you imagine it if he was turning in these seasons ever year?

    • 2013 = 362/614 (59.0%), 3912 YDS (6.4), 19 TD, 22 INT, 73.1 QB Rating
    • 2014 = 344/554 (62.1%), 3986 YDS (7.2), 27 TD, 12 INT, 91.0 QB Rating
    • 2015 = 266/413 (64.4%), 2791 YDS (6.8), 14 TD, 12 INT, 83.1 QB Rating
    • 2016 = 436/672 (64.9%), 4317 YDS (6.4), 20 TD, 15 INT, 83.5 QB Rating
    • 2017 = 352/549 (64.1%), 3141 YDS (5.7), 18 TD, 13 INT, 80.4 QB Rating

I post this thread because if you remember how insufferable this place was after the Ravens won the Super Bowl in 2012 and all the trolls that showed up here. Where are those clowns now? Sitting at home in January for the 4th time in 5 years while Joe Flacco's contract is an anchor around their necks.

BTW, what about what the Bengals managed to do the last two weeks? Their season has long since been over and then bang, last week they ended the Lions season and then yesterday ended the Ravens season. Sure with the Falcons had been able to do that in their bad years.

More Karma for the Deflategate lies and BS. Colts haven't made the playoffs either. Luck has been hurt, Grigson got canned, Pagano got fired. Kensil was banished. Mort got throat cancer (glad he's feeling better). B$PN has had massive layoffs as viewership has dropped and the Worldwide Leader in Lies and Misinformation has lost what little credibility it had left. NFL ratings have plummeted. Only Harbaugh and Goodall still have to get theirs. Then the Universe will have finally righted itself.

  12. I remember, right after LI, many people on this site were vehemently predicting that the Falcons were going 19-0 this year. 2016 was Matt Ryan's watershed year and his 38 TDs, 7 INTs, and 4900 yards would now be his worst year moving forward. Anyone that dared to disagree, was branded a troll and called all kinds of nasty names.

No throwing anyone under the bus. No finger pointing. No deflecting blame. No whining. No crying. No excuses. No rioting for rule changes. No claims of nefarious weather machines that can alter the weather all along the eastern seaboard. After all, we're not Trippin' Tomlin or the Steelers, are we?

Just common sense from someone who's been through this a few times before...

I’m sorry but I don’t see this team’s offense somehow miraculously turning things around 1 week from now against Carolina. Unfortunately it was just the Falcons bad luck that the year we finally got our Shi-t together and had a monster offense our OC packs up and leaves and our offense that briefly rose to historic heights last year has since then has fizzled out and has come crashing back to earth and can’t seem to put one foot in front of the other. Yeah we got jobbed badly by the refs today but we have the ball inside the 5 multiple times and could not deliver. Ryan has regressed quite a bit this year and seems like a deer in the headlights in many games.

One thing is clear.... No matter what the “real” problem is with the offense.... it doesn’t pass the eye test and ‘it ain’t workin’

The Falcons are going to lose against the Panthers and will miss the playoffs with a loss at home - Happy New Year from Quinn, Ryan and Sark—-you and I are stuck with em

Just a few short months ago, some posters were going scorched earth against anyone who had the audacity (foresight) to disagree with the claim that the Falcons were going to go 19-0 and that Matt Ryan's 2016 stats were going to be his new norm...

After watching the SuperBowl last year and today's game against New Orleans, I cannot convince myself that the NFL is not a bunch of rigged showboats that are part of some grand money-making machine.  The officials have more influence on determining the games than ever and teams that look great one week or season before can become garbage the next (and vice versa).  Players who are supposed to be professional make some of the stupidest mistakes while coaches and owners are more caught up with arguments over taking a knee than calls on the field going completely against them.

The only argument I have ever heard that is convincing is that it would be virtually impossible to keep this many players quiet even with a giant payout to each of them.  However, a game like today where the Falcons get no calls in their favor and are penalized at a rate almost 9 to 1 over the other is ridiculous.

Please convince me the NFL is not rigged!

Why the sudden shortage of tin foil?

The NFL invents "scandals" in order to support parity.

I’m calling it right now. I’ve seen enough to convince me the last few weeks that Sark has finally turned the corner on running this offense.  Unless we suffer a season ending injury to a major key player such as Ryan, Julio or Alex Mack we are returning to the SuperBowl this season

    Why? Did Atlanta win today?

When the Falcons win, they're going 19-0 and never losing another game for the rest of Ryan's career. When they lose, they'll never win again during Matt's career.

Take the win for what it was... They beat a terrible team by 14.

7-4. They've beaten 6 bad teams and 1 average team (SEA),  lost to 1 great team (NE), 1 good team (CAR), and 2 bad teams (MIA and BUF). The remaining schedule has them playing 4 good teams and one bad team. Is 9-7 enough to make the playoffs?

That's a simple question to answer. NO! Because the Patriots record is better. You cannot compare last year to this year, or last season to this season. It's that simple. Falcons lost to the Patriots this season, the Patriots record is better than the Falcons. Are they better???? Well Obviously. To carry the torch and team hooray stuff is a waste of time, it encourages the players for the Falcons to think they are not something they really are. Falcons need to improve and PROVE they are the best team. It's as simple as that, or that is SHOW ME!!

    JMO.............

Pats fan here rooting for the Falcons tonight! Hardy should have held on to that pass just now...

    To answer #3...

I enjoy coming here to get the perspective from another fanbase. NFL thoughts, Patriots thoughts, etc. As you know, there's usually a new NE thread every day or so... I'm also on the Bills' site too. That's it. Some teams actually ban you once they find out you're not a homer for that team The Jets for example.

Many Falcons fans are knowledgeable and only a few are insufferable and can't handle ANY opinion that differs from their own. Even though they are inevitably proven wrong:)

You and I have agreed on things before (I think) and we've disagreed before (I know).

Must be nice to have such confidence in your roster that you draft a backup QB in the second round lol.

We Pats fans are shaking out heads at this one. Before the draft, BB could have gotten a boatload of picks from Cleveland and SF. Picks BB could have used to draft help for this year. Instead, he got a 2nd round pick "only." Now it will be the 1st or 2nd pick of the 2nd round. He was drafter #62 and got #33 or 34 in return.

Of course BB usually turns out to be right, so...
