That 330lb NT would be a nice piece to have next to Grady and Marlon, maybe he shows out.

Ahh Bud Dupree, I remember him being killed around here because his name came up with Beasley's  #8 in the 2015 draft. Then he could not hold Beasley's jock, nor could he for the the next 3-4 years, and now he is the "answer" to the pass rush...
    Makes perfect sense.

serious question, if it were you in the Not For Long, would you give away money you could earn?
would you not look out for yourself first?
one argument that could be made, maybe justifiably so, is 'he's made plenty of money, he could give the team a break'
while I can't argue against that, from a personal standpoint, there are not many guys who do it, or would do it. Unless maybe they have a supermodel wife who makes more than they do anyway. But how many times have we all heard, 'it's a business'.....the "TEAM" does what's in it's best interest, these guys better make what they can while they can. why give away the money that will set his family up for the rest of their lives

Pees seems to be able to manufacture a rush, Raheem and Ulbrich had some success in doing that this past season, seemed like Quinns hold on the defense was a big issue, an offseason of fingers crossed good coaching can do wonders, these guys had some very bright moments, I dont think they're devoid of talent.

Honestly i dont think he needs anything. His approach to coaching is what will carry these players farther than upgrading any one position. We are a really dub low iq football team right now. I think we will see a big change purely from the culture.

I need y'all to start counting every time the ball gets snapped for a pass play. I guarantee you Ryan on most of them is getting at least 3 seconds in the pocket.
Pass protection isn't the problem. It's this awful scheme with horrible route combinations and piss poor play calling that's the problem.

thajames reacted to #84 in Imagine if Matt Ryan had a competent Offensive Line
This is incorrect.  Look at your leading passers all have great teams around them with OCs who use movement to create mismatches.  Seattle has Metcalf setting records, Rodgers has A true WR1 who is healthy and a stud RB in Aaron Jones/ Mahomes has a HOF caliber TE and three recievers who run sub 4.4 40s plus a 1st round pick RB/Allen has a great offensive line that gives him eons to find holes in the defense and a simple offense with minimal reads/Tannehill has Henry/Big Ben has an elite defense/Mayfield has two pro bowl caliber RBs and Jarvis Landry.  NO playoff bound team is truly a one man QB show.  The QBs make the team argument is flawed always has been always will be there is a reason the yearly once in a generation QB usually busts because he is usually dropped into a bad situation with poor talent and bad coaching.  Great organizations make great QBs not the other way around.  No matter how many times you repeat the lie about franchise savior QBs it will never ever become true stop being a pawn in ESPN marketing and actually look at how teams work.

get out of here with that crap. the O-line will look beastly next season with a non brain dead OC. play calling has resulted in more sacks and dead plays than any defense we've faced

He would be trash. Even when the Oline protects him he throws picks and refuses to really make plays.

No, I think he will pick the guy he believes is best for the franchise. I also think that the combination of having MR and the a top 3 pick will be enticing to a HC. It allows him to have a solid above average NFL starter on the team and if he chooses to draft a QB with the 1st pick he can let him develop instead of throwing him in the fire. I think Fields, Wilson and Lance could all use some time to develop. I think there are bigger holes on the team but I understand MR is 36 years old.

thajames reacted to vel in Takk tweet about wanting to be traded - Offered a 2nd last year (?)
I'll play Devil's Advocate for Takk....
He's not wrong. The Falcons paid Vic Beasley $13MM and he downright sucked going into 2019. They could have traded him and got a 3rd round pick but thought paying him $13MM for limited production for a third year in a row was a better idea.
Then... Takk gets his fifth year option declined, which was the correct decision, but provide no path for him to be a long term player in Atlanta. After paying a player with limited production $13M. If the argument to not pay Takk was because he wasn't producing, why did they pay Vic? One good season gets you that kind of money?
They BS'd Takk. He's been disgruntled. I'm sure teams have called about Takk. They've known Takk wasn't in the long term plans for the team. Yet, they decided keeping him was the better choice. Foolish. Now, in a year where the Falcons suck again and Takk again is clearly not in the long term plans for a team that is in turmoil, they keep him.
The Falcons brought a large part of this on themselves. Look at guys like Campbell and Hooper when they left. They weren't exactly the happiest of campers. The Falcons pranced Debo and Grady around when it was time to make them "Falcons for Life!" and basically spit in the face of everybody else that was in line for a new deal. After paying a bum $13M. That's the biggest issue and what I said would come back to bite them when they paid Vic that money. He had one good year in 2016 and got paid $13M for it in 2019.
Don't pay bad players big money and don't keep bad players around because you like them. Set a standard for what's acceptable and what gets you paid and what doesn't.

That's actually not at all true.  He's the on-field captain of the team.  The ability to read the D and adjust to the field is what got him the job of QB back in college.  His inability or unwillingness (whichever excuse you want to defend) to make the right decision here =L  Call me an idiot if you want.  I saw the game.  I didn't lose the game.  Neither did Gurley, Gurley did his job that he has trained his whole life for.  Matt Ryan did not make a good decision, he followed a stupid order that he surely knew was a stupid call.  Or did he?

There was no sense of urgency. No one feared losing their job, because the boss was their friend. This is a Brotherhood...
Climate is the primary reason Quinn got fired. He tried the Brotherhood thing and it backfired big time. Maybe it works in college, but in the NFL, it does not work. At first, the players responded, because they didn't want a leader that coached them hard. Then they became too comfortable with the coaches and mediocrity set in. Then the team as a whole lost respect for the head coach, their "friend."  The past two coaches have been too buddy, buddy with the players. The next coach needs to be about professionalism: "Do your job or you're gone."  This isn't a Brotherhood. This is a business. It's all about winning. Win, you stay in...Lose, well, bye. These guys are getting paid big time money and not producing. In any other business, that will get your fired, so guess what? The head coach and GM got fired. The special teams coach got fired because his players didn't know what to do on an onside kick and it cost them a win. More axes will fall and not just on coaches.
When you lead, you must make it clear that I can be friendly with you as long as you do your job. While I care for you, I care more about this organization and its success. "Do your job." We can celebrate after a win and be all buddy-buddy in the locker room, but when the new work week starts, it's all business, and I will expect for you to DO YOUR JOB.
Also, this preferential treatment that certain veteran players get during preseason. No. It sends the wrong message to the younger players. Again, do your job.
    And no, I'm not Bill.
