I’m sorry but those are a bunch of ******* idiots.  I don’t care how bad they are I’d never do that. I’m upset but this is ridiculous.  Burning a $250 signed Matt Ryan jersey???

Do you mean we are an Atari 2600 or odyssey and most NFL teams now are a Xbox series x or a Playstation 5. If so, I agree definitely.

Just goes to show we dont know coaching talent... a staff that doesnt even interview LaFleur but rehires Dirk koetter should get fired forever.

TheUsualStuff reacted to Ergo Proxy in Why didn't Matt Ryan call an audible and run the ball in 4th quarter vs Bears?
Chicago went 51 Nickel in the 4th Q; 5 DL and 1 LB as their adjustment to us running out of pass formations earlier.
Therefore, we would’ve needed to go back to heavy personnel as the run attacks out of 4 wide was going to be less effective than the 1st 3 Qs.
So, does the QB manage the personnel the coaches send onto the field?
Coaches have packages of plays according to the personnel they send into the huddle and expect the QB to work with it. The coordinator/coaches need to recognize the strategy needs adjustment before just expecting handoff audibles are optimal if the packages are suboptimal for their adjustment/lineup.
    Chess not checkers.
If you have more information, you realize the real questions that should be asked if you wanted to run the ball more.
And no, no QB goes rogue.

Also it's a fallacy, Ryan didn't throw Gage into a hit. Gage caught the ball and then the safety came and hit him coming from behind after he caught the ball and started running. Players get hit in football, it's kind of a thing.

I don't think we can accurately judge any of our players while we have this incompetent laughing stock coaching staff in charge.
Get a new regime in here from TD down and let them be the judge all of our talent and decide what direction to take with every player on the roster.

TheUsualStuff reacted to JDaveG in Quinn On Koetter Not Running The Ball Late
The thing that peeves me about not running it this season is last season DK was always saying "well, when you are so far behind, you can't really run the ball."
Well, what's the excuse when you're up by 2+ scores in the 4th quarter?
There isn't one.  DK's gameplan for the 4th quarter is garbage.  So is Morris's, but there is plenty of blame to go around.  I can't imagine why late in the 4th quarter the OC says "you know, if we just give them another 2 possessions by trying to pass and going 3 and out, then surely the defense will hold."  I can't imagine why the HC doesn't say "run the mother loving foosball in the 4th quarter Dirk!"
My only answer is these people preach fundamentals but refuse to apply the most fundamental aspects of game management to their team.  And beyond that, it's reason enough to suggest the "let Dirk run the WCO" experiment is a total failure.  The WCO is a philosophy.  It is not just a set of plays. If you read or watch documentaries about Bill Walsh, the one thing that keeps coming up is "pass to get a lead, run to ice the game."  We don't do that.  Why?  Because our OC isn't a WCO coach.  He can call the plays, but he hasn't bothered to learn why the plays work the way they do.  You can't just rip sprint right option out of a playbook and say "look, we run the WCO too!"  It's a lot more than that. The QB's footwork, motions, shifts, running the same play from different formations, the outside zone run -- all of that is part of "Shanahan's offense."  It ain't the plays.  It's the entire package.  You either have it or you don't.

It's because the OC does not see the run game as an integral part of his offense. The passing game is where he schemes and wants to make things happen. The run game is just that thing you do every now and then just to keep them honest. You can tell this because whenever it comes to crunch time when the offense needs to do something to drive the dagger in, the OC abandons the run game altogether and does something stupid ---- like run 10 seconds off the clock with 3 consecutive passes and punt.
This attitude is Dirk's DNA and it will never change.

    Exactly!
And where is DQ leading this team? Right out over the cliff. And for far too long, the players have just kept going like lemmings, not seeing the bigger picture.
To be fair, it is not the players' responsibility to make changes to the wishes and direction of the coaches. We would be up in arms if they were doing a mutiny, and playing totally outside of the coaches preferred structures. But I am pretty certain that all the players are seeing the bigger picture now, as well as the thousands of dead lemmings at the bottom of the cliff. Hence no hope, no faith and no fire.

I wonder how much better we would be even with this defense if we had a competent head coach that didn't chase points by trying to go for 2 up by double digits in the 1st half.
Baseball has the WAR stat where you judge the impact of a player as compared to a replacement level guy. If we could bring that to the Football HC level I think we would find DQ is about an average -3.0 losses per season as compared to the average replacement level guy you could dig up.
