  1. Because they don't think he can facilitate a championship run.

And yet, people that think like that dont have an alternative that is any better. Draft a QB and build him up? Thats a full rebuild as you typically build your team around your QB's strenths and to minimize his weaknesses. And even then, all too often, QB drafts end up being busts.

I believe Ryan will get us there. No matter what ypeople think of the team right now, if they can continue to improve and stay healthy (which is key), they can make a legitamate run at a Championship for the next 5 to 7 years with Ryan at the helm.

  2. Its not like above average QB's are a dime a dozen. There are a handful of QB's that are really good in this league and many teams would love to get a QB of Ryans calibre on their team. I dont understand why so many people dislike Ryan as a QB for the Falcons.

  3. When the offense gets one dimensional and gives up on the run, the opposing defenses just play overload defense and blow up the line. Our O-line does not hold up against overload defense more often than not. We have good runners..when the Falcons get behind, they need to keep handing that rock off to a runner to re-establish the line and own it. When they make the D respect the run, then the pass game will open.

  4. Im convinced this game was thrown. It is clear the NFL prearranged this Saints win. The Pregame honorary Gleason documentary gave it all away. Really then lighting strikes TWICE in the same exatact way it did in katrina bowl back in 06??

Im not excusing the turnovers or the questionable decision making or the poor tackling but think about it for a second.....

1.) Gleason just happened to be in the VIP front row, and both the TV cameras and the Saints bench awknowleged him when the punt was blocked. It was a scripted thing to honor his greatest acheivement in his career, it was painfully obvious.

2.) The 40 yr old TE looks like a 23 yr old Tony Gonzalez? Are the Falcons safties really that bad or were they intentionally trying not to cover him. No ingame adjustments from a coaching staff clearly capable of making them.

3.) The lack of penalties on the Saints. Homecoming is one thing but when horse collars qnd PI are ignored, you should realize the game itself has been cooked....

4.) The NFL clearly profits more with keeping the Saints a viable contender for a few more weeks, it is simply more compelling to not allow the Falcons to run away with the division. Follow the TV ratings.

5.) How do you drive at will only to fumble in the redzone everytime?? Coming in this was the worst D in the NFL against its best red zone offense. Who was actually talking in Ryans headset.

The WWE scripts everything, from the opening to the main event and every move in the matches are pre designed and scripted. Starting with the Gleason honorary pregame, then the honorary punt block in his honor. This game was too...

I have a friend who quit watching football because he is convinced that many games are rigged and scripted. It is very coincidental that they had this big ceremony with the statue of the block kick, they bring in Gleason and give him front row. They show it over and over in pregame, and then it happens again almost identically. What are the odds?

  5. There were times when Matt had time but that second half, most of the time, you could see the pocket collapse around him very quickly and efficiently. He couldnt step up into the pocket because those defending him were being pushed right into him. No QB can escape when the there is no where to escape to.

They need to rest Julio and get him healthy. I also think we need to get another WR that can help widen the field. Most of all, regardless of how far behind you are, when the pass play isnt happening, its time to run the rock. They need to embrace the run game more.

  6. I was dissappointed to see how their Defense kept overpowering our offensive line (especially in the second half). They effectively and efficiently closed up the pocket to keep any plays from developing. It seems like Pearson and Durant are so key that without them the line cant hold up under pressure. Stone was terrible.. cant be said enough.

  7. The Falcons did look like garbage, especially in the first half. But it was all the stupid mistakes one after the other. No one gets to undo those...but if we converted 3 of the 5 trips to the Saints side of the field without those mistakes that turned the ball over, we win that game handily and everyone on this board (OK not 'everyone') would be cheering for the 6 - 0 Falcons. Teams have bad games where they look like leftover dog meat. But good teams learn from those and move on to do better.

From my perspective, Stones inability to snap the ball in a consistant manner was 40% of the issues and two of the turnovers. It will be nice to get the starters back. I will never understand why we didnt run the ball more. We have two decent backs and a backup... its not like we are going to wear our only back out. Run that rock, wear down the defense by making them respect the run..... then watch the rest of the game open up.

  8. Just a comedy of errors in the first half... The Falcons did everything except gift wrap and run the ball in for the Saints. Stone was a HUGE part of the problem. He was snapping wildly, the ball was left, it was right, it was low, it was high. When the QB has to spend so much time trying to figure out where the ball snap is going to be, it takes away from his ability to make a play. There was the blown assignment on the punt that gave up 7. A fumble on the 10, And again those snaps that caused at least two turnovers.

Julio needs to be healthy if there is going to be anything in the post season. With this hamstring issue, he is no better than average. Healthy, he makes plays that most WR's cant. then we gave up on the run.... not sure why they gave up on it rather than leaning on it. Pound the ball, wear down the defense, make them respect the run, then open the pass game up. By the third quarter the pass protection was not there. Every snap, the O-line gave ground and allowed the Saints to close the pocket quickly and efficiently. Its like the O-line lost confidence and couldnt regain it.

All in all, the Falcons beat themselves. The refs seemed a bit one sided all game but still, this was the Falcons to lose and they couldnt have done worse if they were trying to lose.

  9. I see the Falcons leaning on the run game early and getting some scores from the ground. The Saints try to respect the run and that opens doors to the pass game...By the 4th quarter the Saints know they are beaten and beaten soundly.... the normally loud crowd is silent..... the Saints players just want the game to be over.

  10. The D was pretty good. Better than we have had in a long time. The running game was very good against a team that had not given up much on the run so far this year. The pass offense and special teams were off in that game. More off than normal. At least one of those picks wasnt on MR. It was because Julio wasnt as vertical as he usually is due to the hamstring and he wasnt able to get up to the ball like he normally does, although you could make the case that MR should have known the limitations before the throw.

  11. My wife and I chose not to renew for the new stadium. It wasnt just the PSL's it was also the increased price per seat, per game. For me to have the same seats as I have today it would be 4K per seat and about 40% increase in seat price. I only go to Atlanta for football, so for us, its 8 regular season games per year... and that kind of money for 8 games??? I did get contacted for the upper level but again we chose to not renew. I'm going to bet on StubHub and perhaps if the Falcons have an off year and people are bailing on their PSL's picking a couple up on the cheap. Look at SF this year. Last year they sold all their Seats very quickly but the team is such a train wreck this year, people are selling their PSL's at a bargain.

  12. 2nd post!!! Hi this is Jeff. Im from south of Atlanta (McDonough area). Ive been watching the Falcons since they were at the Atlanta Fulton County Stadium (yeah that ages me a bit). Season ticket holder for the last 6 years. I went ahead and bit the bullet on Season tickets when I got married (about 7 years ago) and my wife and I were both into football and decided that would be something cool we could do together! I've been reading the board for a long time, I just never took the time to register.
