That’s one of the things about Sewell. He may or may not be there. Tends to be about a 50/50 proposition. 2 QBs and Chase tend to have to go top 3.

Been doing a lot of mock drafts lately and the more I look at things the more I realize if we stay at 4 I think there are only 2 players we can really consider taking in that spot.
Option 1 is Sewell. He’s the best OL in the draft and would allow us to move on from Matthews and his large cap hit in the near future. For this year Sewell would probably play LG but he’d be a massive upgrade to the line.
Option 2 is Pitts. The only reason I can think of for not drafting Pitts here is that he’s a TE but honestly that just doesn’t sound like a really good reason. The dude is a mismatch on anyone and would make our offense unstoppable. Picture the Falcons coming out in a 2 WR 2 TE set with Julio Ridley Pitts and Hurst out there with someone like Javonte Williams in the backfield. As a defense what are you supposed to do?
I’d be good either way but I’m really thinking Pitts should be the pick. Lots of good OL around the draft. Very few TEs much less good ones.

I disagree. You're selling Pitts a little short and I did the same initially. He's dam good. I know when people say "Oh he's the best TE prospect in years" but he really is. He's the best mix of athletic ability and production in a long time. Guys like OJ Howard didn't have the production and was pure projection. Hockensen and Fant weren't close on the combination of athleticism and production. Yes, Kelce and Waller weren't top picks, but that's the upside for Pitts. What that would bring to this offense with Julio and Ridley is more than just a "tight end". He requires double teams. But you can't double him given who's around him. When TEs have been taken this high, it's never been on a team with two top 15 WRs already in place. It changes the entire complexion of the offense. You can't put eight in the box, which amplifies the running lanes from a scheme that is already stressful to defend.
Also, there is a valid argument that Pitts is a better TE than the next guy at TE compared to Surtain/Farley and Sewell. Even Parsons, who is no longer a lock top LB when talking about JOK. There is a very high likelihood the #4 pick will be an offensive player. Sewell, Chase, and Pitts are the only non-QBs worth it there.

Oh no trolling here. My name was based on the idea of rational thought and discussion during a time where there was a lot of “James Stone is the best because I said so” type discussion on the board. But I can see where the name could rub people the wrong way. Honestly though I’m more of a lurker than a poster.

I'm clearly in the minority but this is exactly why I side with players in all contract situations. Even if they overplay their hand (like LeVeon Bell did a couple of years ago), get yours while you can. Teams will cut or trade you for any reason so it's not a matter of loyalty for them.

I mean it all comes down to price right. It’s not like anyone on the roster has earned the job or has the loyalty of the coaching staff.

I mean if Fields goes 2 then IMO things become really easy for us. We pick either Sewell or Wilson. Whoever is available.

Sewell. Dude would instantly make our left side a fortress.

In two years when Matthews contract expires; bump Sewell to LT and draft an LG.

I’m personally a fan of drafting Sewell.  My approach would just be to play the best 5 guys on the line. I think Sewell would probably Sewell would start at LG until it’s convenient cap wise to move on from Matthews.

Honestly if I could have it my way we’d draft Sewell put him at LG with Matthews at LT, move Lindstrom to C and put Gono at RG with McGary at RT. I think that would be the nastiest O-Line in the game.

It’s all about what you want to build the team around. Building an elite O-Line tends to be a good recipe for success. Keeps the defense off the field and opens up the passing and running games
