Man can't you guys lay off the pitts crap. Never draft a tight end in the top five. Especially when it's not even a complete tight end. Man what's going on with this fan base

Falcons acquire No. 1 overall pick from Jaguars; Jaguars get No. 4, No. 35, 2022 No. 1, and Matt Ryan

The Atlanta Falcons have traded up from the 4th overall pick to the first overall in a league-shaking trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported late Wednesday evening. Jacksonville receives the 4th overall selection from Atlanta, the 35th overall selection, a 2022 first-round pick and former MVP QB Matt Ryan, per Rapoport. The Falcons are presumed to be selecting Clemson QB - Trevor Lawrence.
The trade, which Atlanta announced late Wednesday, for the No. 1 overall pick can have massive ramifications on the outlook of the league at quarterback. NFL Network's Steve Wyche reported Friday that Falcons coach Arthur Smith told him Matt Ryan remained in the team's plans until a conversation with Ryan late in the day on Tuesday, which Rapoport added was heated and ended with a formal demand for a trade by Ryan and his agent.
"We've spent plenty of time and digital space wringing our hands over the future of Ryan, which includes wondering if he'll be able to be healthy beyond 2021 at his age," said Terry Fontenot, Atlanta's new GM. In conversation about his future health, Ryan is said to have lost his temper, pointing to an overall exemplary bill of health for the entirety of his career. People close to the situation, who would prefer not to be named, claim that "the new regime lost Ryan when they questioned his ability to stay healthy when he has proven that for more than a decade."
Details on this story are still coming to light, but it has been confirmed by league sources that the trade has been submitted for league approval. We will keep you posted as we learn more.

I think Miami saw the value of 3. They just got a Godfather deal. Plus Smith Slater or Parsons should be there for them at 12 if that’s how they want to go.

The Smart One reacted to ryanvalz in How have we not restructured Grady’s deal??
We have Marlon Davidson, Deadrin Senat and Chris Slayton.  If Grady was to leave or move on to a better deal with another team, Slayton can take over.

The Smart One reacted to Artys Arryn in IF QBs go 1,2,3 why wouldn't we take Sewell?
People are over complicating the Sewell pick. You just draft him for LG.
You don't have to move McGary or Matthews, we have a gapping hole at LG and Sewell would likely be a Pro Bowl LG on Day 1.
If in the future Matthews leaves, you can have Sewell try moving out to LT but that is a problem for another day.
For now, take what might be the best OL prospect in several years.

This is my ironclad guarantee...falcons will keep their pick at 4 or trade that spot with another team. But only an NFL team.

I feel like the only reason people don’t want to pick Pitts is the fact he’s a TE. But if you put aside the position bias you have to admit he’s an elite talent who would start for us and make an impact day 1 and for years to come.  That’s what you want from a top pick.

I think Gage is a guy that could be a functional number 2 if the situation arose but we should never enter a season planning for him to be the number 2

Well that’s actually the thing. Defense is where the value is in the draft. In all but 1 of my mocks either Moehrig Holland or both is still there at pick 68. Moses for LB is usually still on the board then too. There’s almost always a NT available at 108 too. Lots of value on defense.

Oh no trolling here. My name was based on the idea of rational thought and discussion during a time where there was a lot of “James Stone is the best because I said so” type discussion on the board. But I can see where the name could rub people the wrong way. Honestly though I’m more of a lurker than a poster.

Me too.  It makes you salivate.  Great way to build a roster & increases the odds of hitting gems.  It's fun using the Sims to experiment on selections you wouldn't ordinarily be a fan of just to see the results.
Your pick always affects the draft from the top down, so if you grab a guy that isn't expected at  or at 34, it causes unexpected runs on positions below you thus freeing up quality guys available when your picks comes back around.

In my mocks I do a lot of trade back trade ups where I trade a high pick and a low pick for multiple mid round picks. 12 picks and done within the top 150 builds a strong roster in this draft.

IKR. To be fair though there were some prospects I would have liked that I missed out on. I was surprised I was able to get those last 3 picks though. I don’t remember Trask ever lasting that long.

See I’m not so sure it is. If Wilson is there at 4 someone should be willing to pay a lot to move up. Philly would definitely become an interesting trade partner at that point.
