Ok, I think we can all admit that our team as a whole looked lost last Sunday. Is it the players, the coaching, or just a bad day?
My thoughts keep going back to preseason and the lack of starters actually playing. I realize preseason is also a time to scout bubble players like Dorian Etheridge, Tajae Sharpe, and Avery Williams and see what they got.
I also am aware of potential injuries and wanting a healthy team to start the season.
Are we more apt to get injured if we are not in "game shape?" This is a whole new scheme, new coaching staff, new philosophy, many new players. Practice is just that, practice. Ask Allen Iverson lol. If we were running the same offense for 3 years, I get not wanting to risk MR2 injury, but we're not.
In my opinion, the lack of preseason play crippled our chances to get out to a good start. Pitts tired on the 1st drive? Maybe, maybe not. Offensive line looked absolutely lost playing together (or apart) and the Eagles didn't change a dang thing.
Some may say a route tree is a route tree. Nobody on offense or defense was on the same page. Hopefully we worked on some things this week and I suspect we'll get better as the season progresses, but I believe some of these lumps were avoidable, though some may disagree
