Love that guy! Especially where he asked if it was that guy’s fault. He just yelled at him because he saw him get throttled. 😄
Reminds me of being a kid. I told my friends sometimes I think I got a whipping because my parents figured it had been too long since I had earned one. They just assumed I got away with some offense along the way, so they just waited for me to look at them wrong. 😄

(Disclaimer to the young pups: yes, my generation got a whipping when we didn’t ‘act like somebody,’ as my Mom would say)

I like how he gets vocal. We absolutely need to keep giving this man what he needs to build this team.

Exactly.  The very best coaches in the history of the league -- the Walshes, Bellichicks, Parcells, probably even the Lombardis and Nolls and Landrys even though they were to some extent in the pre-FA era -- all move on too soon instead of too late, and rely on the draft to build their teams.  None of them are trying to coddle players.  They'll pay the right ones, but for the most part, they're constantly trying to improve the roster.
Honestly, that's why Smith coming here with Fontenot at this time in the Falcons' history, and keeping Ryan, is the smartest thing they could do.  They get to build a team around him primarily through the draft, and then choose the time to move on.  That might be 3 years from now or it might be 5 or 7, but they get to make that call.  Whereas, for example, if Payton got fired in New Orleans, the pressure is on to get that guy right now.
They can cut or retain whomever they wish, excepting guys like Julio who demand to be traded.  They can build the team as they see fit.  There is no preconceived idea of how this team is a piece or two away, nor is there a need to do a total rebuild.  Everything is (no pun intended) a blank slate for them.  That's how to build a consistent winner.

Blank knows his chance to win a Super Bowl in his lifetime is fading. I think he will be less involved with this staff than any of the ones before.

Good thing Arthur Smith's dad is a billionaire.  And I'm not even kidding in the slightest.
Coach Smith has the pull at any time to say "okay, deuces."  He doesn't need this job.  And frankly, he's good enough to walk away from it and still be successful.

Yeah, I more into seeing him develop now.

I was surprised by his ability to extend plays because he looked slow like he was dancing on the moon during the videos of him doing movement drills lol.

He sure proved me wrong. He has a good feel for escaping the pocket decisively.

I was really happy to see that even though Franks ran a lot, his first instinct was always to escape the pocket and keep looking downfield. It wasn't just a scramble drill every play. Dude has potential.

One thing I give Feleipe is that he is good at extending plays.

On 3 of his passes were drops by WRs. We got to see more from him as a passer. I think that was the only thing lacking for us to see this 1st game because the o-line unit was so terrible.

Same here. Rude awakening, lol. As somebody was saying in the game thread last night, "we got rid of Benkert for this guy!??" Should've kept Benkert and let him and Franks battle for #2.

Hahaha so true. I actually think AJ is Sid Bream slow. Talk about a statue.
I had no clue he was that lethargic. I really thought he was okay prior to last night against backups.

After watching McCarron last night, I wouldn't give him a shot, I'd just tell him he's now QB2.

Hopefully next week he gets the start with the 2s. There were OLmen I didn't even know were on the team in front of him. Give that man a shot to be QB2.

The WRs were terrible, but I'd like to see more from a passing aspect from Feleipe.

If he shows that he can be a viable passer, then he would be without a doubt the #2 QB.

I found the articles on the Atlanta Falcons page on yardbarker.com can somebody tell me if that is a reliable site. They have alot of articles everyday. Here is the latest if it's a bad site let me know and I won't post anymore. I've been a member since before the first super bowl and still counted as a new member. I always read the forums but never post.
Falcons were reportedly offered a first-round pick for Julio Jones, but not for next year
Originally posted on SportsTalkATL  |  By Chase Irle  |  Last updated 6/4/21 At this point, I totally understand if you’re completely lost when it comes to the Julio Jones trade rumors. Some outlets are saying the Falcons will get a first-round pick and unload his entire salary, others say teams are offering a mid-round pick and asking Atlanta to eat a large portion of Jones’ salary. The truth most likely lies somewhere in the middle.
It was reported last week by ESPN’s Dianna Russini that the Falcons have a first-round pick on the table for Jones.
That very well may be true, but it doesn’t look like that first-round pick was for the next draft in 2022. Chris Mortenson reportedly said on 680 The Fan this afternoon that Atlanta was offered a first-round pick but it was for a future draft — I would assume in 2023.
If I had to guess, the Falcons are probably debating between a 2023 first-round selection or a 2022 second-round pick. In either scenario, I would expect Terry Fontenot to rid of most — if not all — of Jones’ salary. Atlanta may seem desperate to trade Julio because of what occurred on FS1’s Undisputed, but they technically don’t have to. Terry Fontenot isn’t going to accept some lowball offer. This is a pivotal moment for a first-year GM, and he has to get it right. Accepting a mid-round pick and eating salary for one of the best receivers in the league is certainly not getting it right.

RedandBlack4ever reacted to DonOfThemBirds in So do Falcons have a chance in this division with Brady and Rodgers around?
At this point, I highly doubt anyone knows what Rodgers will do outside of Rodgers himself. I also think he rather enjoys holding Packers hostage.

He may not be in Green Bay after this season, but I'm not sure if Saints will be a viable destination next season because they did lose some pretty significant pieces on that defense and Michael Thomas is looking like a disaster that's brewing more and more.

Ppl labeled Matt ryan when we didn’t beat the cardinals in the playoffs his rookie season then when we got beat by NYG and GB everyone “confirmed” what they thought then the loss to SF and of course 28-3. Now he’s old and ppl think he’s an even worse version of a guy who never really closed anything

edit: Also didn't like how Marcus flat out said the falcons arent going to the SB. Annoying. New Season, you don't know whats going to happen
