Looks like it was 2017. First DT was Malik McDowell in the 2nd, yikes haha. Id say that draft beats this one for having a worse DT class

🤣 I didn’t think it had been that long ago but who is Malik McDowell?

To answer the question, I laughed a bit at 2 picks:

Trey Lance at 3 - This right here is Shanahan just being arrogant. They'll regret it.

Carolina passing up Fields. I don't personally think he'll be an all star QB, but you're banking on Darnold? Seriously?

I agree wholeheartedly with the panthers passing fields because of darnald is insane. But hey I’m glad they did 🤣 also do we think they may have taken horn to try to get ahead of the curve for covering our offense now??

I think the panthers may have tried to get a jump on drafting to stop us 🤣

    Saints reached hard for Turner.

    Leatherwood super early over Darrisaw.

Panthers & Broncos passing on Fields

Washington and New England not moving up for Fields

All good calls. Who is the Turner guy the saints took? I haven’t even heard of him I don’t think

I was surprised to see Barmore not go in the 1st. Crazy not a si gle DT went in the 1st

I’m curious as to when the last time that happened was. It seems like it wasn’t that far back but usually there’s at least one guy who’s impressive, athletic and has enough potential to get into the 1st round

The Saints reaching for the stars! 😆

After seeing who each of our nfc south opponents drafted I honestly think we improved the most after the first round.

Also read where it said that Kyle Pitts may end up being the kind of player that teams start drafting in order to stop him. That’s pretty high praise and I like it.

It's funny because I actually thought every team was doing a great job of balancing needs vs BPA for a long time and then the Raiders went and blew that all to ****.

🤣 well I read an article that said it seems the raiders skip the pre draft process and the scouting process and just watch the last 4-6 games of the year.

I doubt it too. But we do have the 4th pick in the third round also.. So.... Hmmm.. just maybe. But if we really want him I'd say we'd have to take him sooner. Or else he'll be gone.  We would have to draft him with our pick 36, in the second round.

I would have absolutely no problem taking Javonte Williams in the 2nd. He’s my favorite back in this class. I get a Warrick Dunn feel from  Gainwell, which doesn’t bother me at all

There are teams who think they are in win now mode and only a QB away with coaches and GMs fighting for their jobs and will be desperate to pay the price to move up to save their jobs.  We have to take advantage of that.  We need depth, we need cheap players and we need defense really bad.  Lot of good defensive players in this draft, it’s not strong at the top but it’s fairly deep depending on position.  Let someone overpay for their QB, we can get a ton of defensive talent this year and start rebuilding that way.

Build a strong team over the next two years and maybe make a run.  If not, then go get your QB of the future and drop them into a strong wholistic team on both sides of the ball and have four years of a cheap contract with them to surround with even more talent in free agency.  That’s my dream scenario, can’t wait to see what happens.

This is the exact same way I feel. You have to take advantage of the opportunities that are available To you regardless of what they are.

I actually think Trask was bailed out by Pitts and his receivers big time. NBC puts it best:

"For one, 9.52% of his passes required clear adjustments from his pass-catchers. Not only is that the highest rate since 2020 by a wide margin, but it is more than double the 2020 class average"

The thing you have to go back and watch is where the defenders are when the receivers are catching those balls that they’re adjusting to. Trask made several throws that were wow throws simply because of placement in reference to the defensive players that were around

  10. So about Fields I have heard about him not getting through his progressions very quick but I also read where he has a long wind up release for the deep ball. Is that something anyone else noticed? If so that could be an issue with defensive players swatting at the ball while trying to get the sack. But those are two very important things that need to be looked at if you’re going to draft him

If we stay at 4 I think it’s either Pitts or Sewell and I would be happy with either one. I still hope we trade down and get more picks though. And count me in the minority that thinks there is good value at QB later in the draft should we choose to go that route. I watched Trask a lot and would be happy with him, Ehlinger or several others.

I’m with Trask or Ehlinger I’ve been high on both of them. The play that sold me on Trask is actually a highlight of Pitts against Alabama. But the throw Trask makes to the corner of the end zone is a next level throw. I know Pitts is a monster but Trask had to put the ball where only Pitts could catch it.

oh, 100%. i definitely want some meat on our RB. gainwell and carter are on the smaller side, but chuba and sermon are built solid, and chuba has olympic-level speed to go with it.

    sermon: 6'1, 215

    hubbard: 6'0, 215

I guess when they measure in for their pro days it could sway me a little but I’m not sold on Sermon. Do you know why he decided to transfer from OU to OSU?

we have this guy on the roster. Qadree Ollison. Another victim of dirk 'sit the young guy and play the broke down vet' koetter, just like Freeman was, and we know how well the next few years went for him after DK left.

I’m perfectly fine with giving Ollison the bulk of the carries...I really liked him coming out of Pitt and I really hope that AS gives him a legit shot. But if we draft someone I hope it’s  Javante Williams.

ohh, i love me some rhamondre too, but check out some film on some other guys if you haven't already. hubbard, sermon, carter, gainwell. i think there are a few more that you'll enjoy.

The issue is, for me and just my opinion, I’m tired of 5’8-5’9 guys that weigh 198-208. I want a guy that’s 5’10-6’ and 215-230. I’ve watched a little bit of a few other guys. I like Gainwell, but to me he’s more of a gadget player. Move him around to create mismatches. I don’t mind that kind of player at all just not as our bell cow back.
