me@MyHouse reacted to ⚡Slumerican⚡ in What To Expect From Smith’s Offense
I honestly hope Blank is giving Smith 3 years to try and get out of this **** we are in.. I dont expect anything different until we can move on from Ryan and company with these horrible contracts we've got to eat.. In a young mans sport, we're definitely going to have to watch several has beens for a few years before we can actually rebuild

me@MyHouse reacted to pa_falcon_fan in Do you think that the Falcons can get their QB of the future with their 3rd or 4th round pick?
I keep seeing this argument from people regarding taking a QB early in the 1st, and Tom Brady is always the excuse.  But here is reality:  25* of the 32 starting QBs in the NFL were 1st round picks.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_starting_quarterbacks_in_the_National_Football_League
    * Counting Burrows/Prescott/Goff/Wentz who were injured and Roethlisberger, Mahomes who were "rested" the last game when the list was updated *
    The guys that aren't?
Drew Lock - 2nd round - Maybe might be decent eventually but has been nothing special so far Jimmy Garoppolo - 2nd round - Was supposed to be the next big thing and turned out to be maybe a bit above average Derek Carr - 2nd round - Good at times but not great Gardner Minshew - 6th round - Up and down, good at times but not great Kurt Cousins - 4th round-  One of the better, more consistent on this list, but still not great Russell Wilson - 3rd round - He is 1 of 2 outliers here..  which should tell you how rare it is for a great QB to slip beyond the 1st or early 2nd. Tom Brady- 6th round - The once in a lifetime exception to the rule. Scouting of QBs has gotten exceptionally better since Tom Brady slipped through the cracks.  No one wants to miss the next Brady, so the likelihood of getting your next franchise QB outside of the first round has become next to nothing.  Look at the list above again.  If you count 2nd rounders, you're talking 28 of 32 starting QBs in the NFL.  Do you really want to stake our franchise's future beyond Ryan on the nearly non-existent chance we find the ONE guy that slipped through the cracks to the 3rd round or 4th round?   Ryan isn't going to play forever so if we can get his successor, even if he has to sit behind him for a year or so, we do it.

Not a fan. Teams like the Saints and Partriots always keep their trade secrets close to their chest. The real mastermind is at the top of their food chain. Buyers beware.

Sewell is the #2 prospect in the entire draft behind Lawrence, however the Jets need a QB more than an LT, so this is why Sewell should fall in Miami’s lap which meets their top need.

me@MyHouse got a reaction from Falcons Fan MVP in Joe Brady, Eric Bieniemy? Who will Falcons target? What’s Matt Ryan’s future? - The Athletic
People I have interest in, In some particular order:
    Shanahan coaching tree
Gary Kubiak Mike Shanahan Mike McDaniel - OC Offensive Minds
Brian Daboll Josh McDaniels Greg Roman Other Options
David Shaw Urban Meyer Lincoln Riley Dave Toub Marvin Lewis Dave Fipp
I'm not a fan of Bienemy because I think Andy Reid is the master mind and secret sauce behind that offense (from a coaching standpoint).
I prefer an offensive mind HC because most of our $$ is invested in offense and I don't want to keep replacing offensive approaches every time our successful OC (feels like wishful thinking right now) gets poached.

Time will tell, of course, but I don't think he gets picked up as a DC for a while, if ever.

He might be a very good Special Teams coach.

Someone in another thread mentioned him coaching at a college - I could definitely see that.

I think Quinn would be a fine college head coach, the roster changes enough that his enthusiasm and methods wouldn't get stale. In the NFL I don't see him getting a DC position anytime soon likely will end back in Seattle.

I never stopped liking either. People seem to lack the ability to separate on field with off the field. Dan Quinn and his staff have done a really poor job over the last 3 seasons but I've never lost respect for the man. Just the coach.
