    Saturday was epic.
That person went so far to explain "her" user name by concocting a story that she was friends with Jeff Saturday's wife, and used the name as an homage to their friendship. Even if that **** was true, why would your friend's surname be your user name?
And then all those people from the travel forums came over to show how she was stealing their vacation photos and stories of hanging out with Jimmy Buffet on his yacht in Anegada. So much funny.

The Dark Knight trilogy had great action sequences, but some really bad fight scenes. The only really good fight scene was when Bane beats the **** out of Batman. They were all too short and not choreographed very well. I really thought the Ra's/Bruce sparring on this ice could have lasted a lot longer and could have been done much more creatively.
The Dark Knight Rises sucks complete ***, but the trilogy is still the best comic book movie story ever off the strength of the first two movies alone IMO.
Nolan understood the importance of villains, and more importantly the THEMES of the villains, with Scarecrow being Fear, Ra's being Balance and Order, Joker being Chaos, Two-Face being Hate, and Bane just being hellbent on ruination. The execution could have been a little better in some places, particularly at the end of TDKR when they turned Bane, yet again, into a bitchass lackey to a devious woman, but for the most part they're also the best villains that have ever been in a comic adaptation.
My two main criticisms of Marvel movies are that the plots seem to always be "bad guy gets possession of glowy-thing that will destroy the city/planet/galaxy/universe and the good guys have to stop them" and all of their villains are empty, boring, and completely forgettable outside of Loki. Hopefully Thanos and/or Ultron can buck that trend.

George R.R. Martin’s Final Answer to the ‘Will He Finish Before He Dies?’ Question: ‘F— You’

    Books July 9, 2014
    by Zach Dionne
    Print
Fantasy historian George Raymond Richard Martin is asked, probably on a daily basis, to guarantee he’ll complete A Song of Ice and Fire before quaffing any ale with Ned Stark in the afterlife. It’s a serious concern; Martin has said he won’t let anyone go Tolkien on his books after he dies. Martin will turn 66 this September. In a live Q&A in front of 7,000 Game of Thrones fans at the Barclays Center in March, he joked, before being asked a single question, “I’m working on it.” (“It” being The Winds of Winter, the sixth entry in the saga.) In 2011 — the year A Dance With Dragons hit — a New Yorker profile spent half of its time on Martin’s rabid/indignant fans, particularly the ones who frequent Is Winter Coming?, a skeptic’s haven “dedicated to denigrating Martin and his supporters.” Even Google is worried:

That autofill detectivery came courtesy of the Washington Post, which charted Martin’s lengthening gaps between novels and projected a 2023 publication date for A Dream of Spring, ostensibly A Song of Ice and Fire’s finale. (Even the done-in-seven plan is suddenly shaky, with Martin’s editor mentioning the possibility of an eighth book.) FiveThirtyEight went wild on pretty much every imaginable Martin statistic and came up as uncertain as the rest of us. The Post reassured that Martin will be 75 in 2023, and that, per some stats that may involve actual magical prophets, Martin should expect to live into his early eighties.
Martin is pissed that we’re still talking about this. Speaking to Switzerland’s Tages-Anzeiger in a rare cap-less interview (with video!), Martin addressed the persistent concerns swiftly and profanely. The reporter opens: “But also some people are worried that it’s not gonna be finished, from what I, um, read in the … I mean, there is the possibility, I don’t know if you want to talk about this, but, um … ”
Martin stares into the middle distance, his beard snowy, his doublet stripey, his suspenders battle-ready. He licks his lips.

Then he answers, as swiftly and decisively as the Battle of the Whispering Wood: “Well, I find that question, you know, pretty offensive, frankly, when people start speculating about my death and my health. So **** you to those people.” [Raises eyebrows, throws up the bird.]

And the one true god of Westeros sits, relieved, overjoyed, prepared to follow whatever schedule he likes. He is the master of his own destiny for the first time since it became abundantly clear that HBO’s adaptation will without a doubt reach its end before the oldfangled source material does.

I keep hoping they'll release it on the bluray every single season but they never do. There were quite a few different actors in the pilot, and it had a different opening credit sequence and theme, as well as a flashback to Aerys Targaryen burning Ned's father alive while his older brother choked himself to death trying to free him.
Ian McNiece played Illyrio Mopatis in the pilot, and looked hilarious.

I know Sophie Turner's been legal in North Carolina for two years already, plus she turned 18 earlier this year, but I'm just not comfortable expressing the things I would like to do with her yet.

There is nothing redemptive about that character, though. It is a soulless hate machine, which is how Martin avoids it being some "happy" reveal. There isn't anything triumphant about that monster.

Despite the hurried ending...holy ******* **** was this an amazing episode or what? Blackwater who? I actually physically sweat while watching this episode. Once the battle started it felt like 40 minutes went by in about 15.
    - The Nights Watch horn is awesome. It has such a creepy sound to it.
    - The Thenn warg looked insane.
    - Despite the fact that it serves no practical purpose, flaming arrows in the night always look cool.
-Ygritte is a surgeon with that bow. Got a little bit of feels when she died. RIP Ginger Minge.
    - GIANTS RIDING MAMMOTHS. YOUR ARGUMENT IS INVALID.
    - That long tracking shot of the battle may be the best looking shot they've ever done on the show. Nothing was wasted in that shot and there were no awkward extras in the background. Reminded me a lot of the tracking shot in True Detective.
