At this time, I know we can't get the best DT and my favorite player in the draft, Quinnen Williams from Alabama. I also really like Deionte Thompson and Devin White, but I don't think their positions are as pressing of a need as OL and DL. LB is definitely looking shoddy this year due to Deion Jones being out, but when we get him back, I think we will be fine there. Wouldn't hurt to get some help at LB & CB though.
As of now my first two picks would be:
1st round - Dalton Risner, OL Kansas State
2nd round - Jerry Tillery, DT Notre Dame
Who do you guys have in mind?

To me the whole unit isn't playing well. But, its' not an NFL team in this league that will do well with both guards going on IR at around the same time. That's not a depth issue, that's just sh*t happens.

All I'm saying is besides the injuries, defensively, it's not necessarily a talent thing. IT'S A LEVEL OF PLAY THING ON DEFENSE. The locker room determines that, not coaches. Coach can point out your mistakes, teach you proper form and technique, tell you where to make improvements, but HE DOES NOT STEP ON THE FIELD OF PLAY. Because the level of play on defense isn't where it should be, it is affecting the offensive line.
Another example: coach can emphasize all day long "it's all about the ball", fumble and interceptions. It's up to the players to apply that. Alford had a ball hit him in the back of the head on a 9 route where he was in good position, proper technique, didn't allow the receiver to stack him, used the sideline as a second receiver and everything. Ball hit him in the back of the head. Neither one of our starting corners is actually applying that philosophy of "its' all about the ball". They don't take advantage of the opportunity to actually turn the ball over.
The defense as a unit, the level of play isn't where it should be. The standard is there, but they aren't meeting the coaches to that standard.

We definitely need Shraeder's replacement. He has been trash ever since the concussion week one of last year. I don't mind this draft, btw, but it's highly optimistic at this point to think we'll be drafting that low, lol.

They WERE our depth, and solid players if they need to come in for a series or even a game. But starting every week, their deficiencies get exposed. Similar thing with our defense. But that's a logic not every board member gets around here. Trade Ryan, sack Quinn blah blah blah.

I mean it was the plan all along to have Fusco and Levitre out for long periods **** why not have 10 Gs or Ts as backups screw the depth and everywhere else.

As far as re-signing our own players I won't get into the obvious ones. But I would like to re-sign Bruce Carter for another vet presence. I'm all for moving on from Shelby, McClain, and Reed.
DT Bennie Logan
DE Clelin Ferrell
Bottom line is Takk needs help. Beasley is not the answer, but I still think they will keep him around. But Ferrell has size, get off, motor, and great technique. I just feel like he gets it to be a young guy. If not Ferrell my other choice would be Rashan Gary.
LB Germaine Pratt
Let's stop with the Riley experiment and get a real lb'er. He is a converted safety who's long, physical, smart, and takes good angles. Also plays fast and has that dog in him.
DT Dontavius Russell
Big 320 lb man we need in the middle who can take up double teams and keep our lb'ers clean. He was recruited by Bryant Young but chose Auburn. So there's a connection.
RB Jordan Scarlett
We will lose either Coleman or Freeman next year. If it was up to me I would keep Coleman. I know we have Hill, but who knows what they plan to do with him. Maybe a ST guy. But Scarlett was recruited by Brian White and Travaris Robinson who were both with DQ at FL. His only issue was the credit card fraud but he was reinstated.
CB Donnie Lewis
Tall long, quick twitchy CB. Good ball skills who I think can play inside or outside. Can never have too many CB's. Another guy here could be Corey Ballentine.
No 7th Rd pick due to the Richards trade.

I was looking at some games of Deionte Thompson and Raekwon Davis, and then this guy started to flash like crazy. #92 gets in the backfield quite a bit, just look for yourself. He’s quick off the snap & uses his hands to avoid contact. A few plays he gets held in check, but his explosive plays make up for that.
A-TowN.- liked a post in a topic by datchrisb1 in Breakdown on Clelin Ferrell
Yeah he fits here in Atlanta. He still needs a lot of coaching. That get off isn't as consistent as that tape suggests. He's still learning the game. Pass rush top 10, wouldn't have a problem, what worries me the most is run support. He not consistent enough for me as far as maintaining his gap, holding the edge. He's not horrible, that's just the part of his game I have most of an issue with. I've seen tight ends turn him. He gets moved off the line to easy for my liking sometimes. It's not like he doesn't have the ability, it's sometimes literally like "I only eat QBs, not worried about this running back running through this gap rightch chere". That's not coaching, that's want to, man beat a man. Great player, would be great here.

It was the best player, would have taken Quinnen Williams, not sure he's coming out. There were no more defensive lineman worth that top 10 pick IMO. To me Devin White was literally the best defensive player FOR OUR SYSTEM left on the board. edit: I would have been comfortable taking Deandre Baker I guess, but I considered the rest of the D lineman reaches at 10 overall.

Too me it comes down to impact and snap count really. Inside at DT, it's such a heavy rotation there and essentially there jobs is to push the pocket on passing downs and be disruptive up the field on running downs. Grady plays a significant amount of snaps, aside from that its a heavy rotation. DT is more of a depth issue than talent in my opinion. Duke Riley isn't what we need in my opinion and both the weak and middle are interchangeable. All 3, strong, weak, and middle are 3 down positions. That means whoever is at linebacker has to be a beast, they don't come off the field essentially. The most significant, impactful improvement we can make is Devin White in the first in this scenario. We also heavily rotate our DEs, we need more pass rush in that rotation. Joe Jackson will fit perfectly in rotation with Beasley, Crawford, Reed, and Takk. Mack isn't getting any younger and we are not retaining Levitre. It's imperative we spend at least a top 3 pick on a center or guard. Russell and Lawrence are depth pieces in the middle to add to the rotation, I don't see us retaining neither McClain nor Shelby. Poole will most likely hit free agency, I see him also demanding more money than we can afford to give him. Orr is a better cover corner and a decent tackler. He will be our nickel corner for the next 4 or 5 years. 7th round will most likely be running back/ special teams driven.

He's a pass rusher. He may also be able to be a off-ball coverage linebacker like Riley but his pass rushing will likely get him drafted higher than what the Falcons want to spend to replace Riley and fill all their other needs.

I'm not a UGA fan but I like Lamont Gaillard. Mind as well add Lamont to the list of UGA centers who came in and been solid in the NFL thus far. Other centers being Ben Jones & David Andrews.
I like Derrick Brown but it's no way he's going before Ed Oliver.

I'm only just starting to learn prospects and spent a few minutes watching tape of most of the top DT's and now just watched some of Nick Bosa. Holy crap his tape is insane. Almost every play is a highlight. I want him. I think he's better and more explosive than his brother.
