  1. Seems awfully bizarre. I would think at this point UGA PD and the athletic departments have a good working relationship. This doesn't make the light of day at 99% of other campuses. Feels like Kirby might have given the 'proverbial' green light with the end goal of opening up another scholly.
  2. I could see Muschamp laying low in Athens until his SCjr gravy train runs empty. This would allow him to hedge his bets that Lanning and Schumann take HC roles. I also feel that Muschamp might be the person that Kirby would finally be able to trust with the defense. I am a firm believer that if we are going to see a NC, that Kirby has to give up the reigns to the defense. No one can convince me that he has, as it is clear he is so heavily invested in every defensive play. He is constantly jumping and flailing and yelling and redirecting players from the sideline. He has a pullback coach because he is so embedded in every defensive play that he doesn't know where the sideline ends. That is great energy, but also bad for a HC. Kirby needs to be 3 plays ahead, making key strategic decisions, but because he is so entrenched in each play he continually makes poor game clock management decisions, ill advised timeouts or lack thereof, etc. Watch Dabo and Urban, they are true Head Coaches, who have fully delegated play calling and responsibilities. Kirby is a DC masquerading as a HC. But we are more relevant under Kirby than Richt and I have learned to temper my expectations.
  3. Good grief, can someone start a Fromm Fields thread. I love seeing the recruiting thread with a bunch of new posts, as it usually means a new commit or some movement.... well that or the **** Fromm Fields argument for the 500th time.
  4. Good Ole Rocky Bot, Rocky Bot Tennessee 😉
  5. Legitimately thought this was one of those 'Bad Lip Reading' skits, had to watch it a few times.
  6. Outside of the likely bump in pay, I'm this looks like a Frost type scenario. Not sure I would want to jump up to the big boy league with one of the worst teams, who struggles with recruiting... just saying... but Nashville sure as heck beats Cincinnati every day of the week.
  7. Agreed, but we also know his track record when he has to sit.
  8. The more I get to see Justin Fields, the more I believe he doesn't have the mental grit to succeed in the NFL.
  9. Kirby is a great recruiter, but is an absolute pedestrian coach. Time management and key play decision making is worst in the league.
  10. So how is the portal going to work? Free pass for any undergrad, or are there any rules?
  11. Any chance Bobo jobs as QB/WR Coach? Any chance Will Muschamp comes aboard?
  12. Thought JT showed a lot of promise. Great arm strength and didn't force too many throws. He checked down a lot and when he did stare down his receiver it seemed to be based on watching an opening develop and then zipping the ball at the right time. I think from his play my two favorite takeaways were him checking down on the flea flicker, showing restraint, and his three well placed touchdown passes on one drive... thankfully Kearis decided to hold on to the last one.
  13. Lawrence, Fromm, Eason, Bradford, Pryor, RGIII, Moore, Barkley, Manziel, Winston, JT Barrett, Hurts - all Freshmen Quarterbacks, so while freshmen having success at QB is uncommon, it certainly isn't unheard of. If personnel changes don't happen, I would imagine one or all of JT Daniels, Beck and Mathis look to transfer. I would agree with the poster above, that Kirby seems to be having a run of bad luck in the QB department... but he is certainly not blameless.
  14. So.... We will have to make some major adjustments to beat Bama in Atlanta - JT or Beck at QB would be a big one, assuming they are ready to or able to beat out Stetson, but outside of QB what needs to be changed or addressed to give us a better chance?
  15. In theory we should get back to Atlanta, just not sure we have the pieces this year to beat Alabama. Still in disbelief that Ole Miss was able to score on them at will, but we got shutout in the second half.
  16. Is Monken a great/good/poor evaluator of OL talent? OL would have to rank atop our list of weaknesses for many of the Mark Richt and Kirby's years. Even our Great Wall of Georgia was a dud. Is that poor evaluation, poor coaching, or the athletes just not having the grit for college? They might be huge/dominant HS athletes, so they come in thinking SEC ball will require the drive and effort they are accustomed to, but once they realize how much effort college ball requires, they settle for mediocrity?
  17. I believe other players that decided to sit out are now getting reinstated.. Or am I imagining that? Any chance Newman reconsiders?
  18. Our O Line has been a perennial disappointment. Never understood the hype last year, best O Line ever assembled, etc. But agree that there is a lot of rust. The big head scratcher for me now is the true reason Newsome left. If JT hasn't been cleared and stetson is apparently ahead of Beck in the depth chart, no way Newsome was not the clear cut starter over Mathis.
  19. I'm sure his attorney gave him a vote of confidence on immediate playing time - just have to play the race card.
