  1. It is and i think Drew knows it. I cant and wont speak for all Saints fans, but this one knew last year should have been his last. ( physically ) We were kinda saddled with the inability to keep defenses defending the long ball. You can get away with that thru the regular season. But in the playoffs, DCs are at the top of their game. Tampa condensed the field, played primarily man and dared us to go deep. We never did. Drew just doesnt have that arm any longer. We brought in Jameis for that 50 yd TD which was all you needed to know. The reason Drew returned last year was that NO had tapped TB to come to NO for 2 years. He wasnt having any of that. And i think there was a level of respect between Coach/Org and Drew that they said "ok lets do it" knowing his limitations. Kudos to the Saints for allowing him to return, get a 12-4 record, divisional playoffs at 42. He has nothing left to prove to anyone. His name will be etched in the record books for a while. I know you guys are our bitter rivals, but dont think for a second losing Drew leads us to a 5 win season. Sean is too good a HC to have that happen. I suspect we will post 8-8 next year ( depending on who we retain, lost via FA etc ). With 2 of those 8 wins coming from.....;) all good. it was a better season than i anticipated from the start. No homefield advantage for any home game didnt help either. now yall got Fontenot and Smith. Should be exciting for yall. Looking forward to next year.
  2. So you gonna sit around thinking that MAYBE 30 other teams may offer you something similar next year? or the year after? This is a GM position. there are 32 of them in the NFL and MANY dont come open on a regular basis. So if you were silly enough to let your "fandom" come in the way of career advancement, chances are, you wouldnt be advancing much anyways.
  3. But we giving you FONTENOT! cmon ....just once? please? lololol
  4. I get it...coming from a deeply rooted place of disdain for your rival. He isnt coming there for 3 years to destroy the franchise at the behest of Saints or Saints fans. They will get over it soon enough.
  5. Yep part of having success in the NFL. He should be a good one for the Falcons. Gotta hope we retain Ireland now. We lost both and will have to replace from within. Hopefully that conveyor belt still working lol.
  6. A lot of the scouting/drafting credit has to go to Jeff Ireland. Not only draft picks, but FA signings - he was responsible for bringing in Okafor in like 2016 or 17 who ended up doing quite well, tore achilles, but now playing well in KC. We have a beast of a rotation on the D line- Davenport/Rankins/Onyemata/Jordan- Hendrickson/Roach/Tuttle/Granderson with Glasgow and Malcom Brown in there as well. Ireland does a great job of finding talent. Sadly, i dont see how we retain him going forward.
  7. some of that no huddle success can also be attributed to keeping the defense in base cover 2. You know what you have play in, play out with not allowing the defense to substitute/rotate players or call exotic defenses. The Gurley play. I just watched it on twitter. That play was doomed by #93- his move upfield caused Hurst to have to bubble around that mass and completely blew up the timing of the blocking. By time Hurst arrived to his assignment, the play was effectively done and Gurley chose to bounce it out ( which he shouldnt have ) sometimes, its simply an individual effort that blows a play up. However, back to the original point....had you all stayed in hurry up, We dont rotate out our Dline and bring in Onyemata possibly and sit in cover 2.
  8. He sure did. And if you followed the Saints you would know that after they announced they had no QBs, Sean Payton changed the game plan. We ran the ball 44 times out of 60 plays. for 240 yards. Hill is what we thought he would be in this offense.
  9. Thats, in part, why teams lose - Hill isnt some 3rd string scrub QB. Teams that continue to think that way will continue to get punched in the mouth until they wake up. By then, its too late. I thought the Falcons played MUCH better yesterday than the first match. I think in that first match, they really didnt know how to defend Hill and protect Ryan. Defensively, the Falcons came to play. It was clear yall would not let AK41 have his way. He was all but bottled up for a good 3Q. Where we made our mark was the passing game. Hill has been w/ Drew now for 4 years. He has learned from the GOAT how to prepare, how to analyze. He hasnt simply arrived from college ball and all of a sudden is thrown to the wolves. He had 4 years to learn "game speed" ( which is quite different from NCAA game speed ). Anticipation, knowing route schemes vs defensive scheme, who is or should be open...all of that he has had time to adjust to. Defensively, yall did a much better job protecting Ryan this game. I will say, he was pretty spooked in the pocket when it would start to collapse. But when he went to hurry up, shotgun, and passing in rhythm, he was much more effective. And it negated our pass rush for the most part. This was the game i expected 2 weeks ago. Yesterday was typical rivalry game. in the last 7 meetings, we have won 6. Outside of 2 weeks ago, the rest were just like yesterday. I was thinking it would come down to who had ball last. Thank goodness it didnt. Our Defense got stout when needed. Tough season for yall, but yesterdays performance, Falcons were not "laying down".
  10. Great rivalry game. Yall protected ryan much better and glad DK called a run down there. Almost as bad as SP calling pass when we just had to run run kick fg to ice it. (fumble instead)
  11. Since I can't start a thread... Great rivalry game yall. Yall protected Ryan much better Good game.
  12. RTJ my pick would be Call Ticketron but this will work too.
  13. Mannie Fresh from 31 years ago lolol ( note the MANNY - with a Y LOLOL )
  14. Again, not to derail - but the original claim came from Zigi Wilf ( owner of Vikings ) and Childress immediately following the NFCGGC- which was later backed up by info from Mike Cerullo- an asst coach fired in 2010. The allegations were that we were the ONLY team to have a bounty program at that time. That was simply untrue. ( thats the sham ) - the punishment for SP was widely known because Goodell said his suspension was "if he didnt know, he should have known ( as HC of the SAINTS )" His "fault" was not having full control of GW ( which had been widely reported that GW was given carte blanche of defense and not to be interfered with ) So yeah, you got your confirmation bias dialed up to 10 pal. I dont care if you respond to me or not, but make sure your FACTS are the FACTS.
  15. It wasn't a player that stepped forward. Nor was it SP who instituted the pool of money. I'll leave it at that. It's all out there if you want to get your facts right.
  16. Dont wanna derail this thread with news from 2010-11 but here are some links for your reading pleasure. Plenty more out there if you care to dive in. The NFL APPROVED of Reggie Whites "smash for cash" program. The NFL SOLD VHS TAPES OF BIG HITS for DECADES. ( PS google NFL BIG HITS video for sale and see that it all but disappears 2012 ) You cant find a single NFL sold tape of big hits. Wonder why??? https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2012/10/18/nflpa-1996-bounty-program-reggie-white/1643073/ Delusional is to think the NFL was not trying to CYA with concussion suits pending. As you get older, what you will learn, is that it is ALWAYS....ALWAYS about MONEY. always.
  17. First, bountygate was a sham. It was done for PR vs concussion issue that was rising in the NFL. Thats all that ever was. Every team had a pay for hits program. Furthermore, every team knew to target the QB- if you get him out the game, the game changes. So you can continue to believe that bounty gate was a real thing that only the SAINTS incorporated if thats what you want to do. But the veteran NFLers know the real deal. Second, you said your team would "bounty gate them to death on Sunday" I replied AAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA because, if my memory serves me correct, yall havent "bounty gated" much defensively this year and especially in game 1 of our meetings. So unless your team found a defensive baller, i suspect you will see much of the same from game 1. Debo to spy Hill effectively removing him from coverage/plays and a pretty stout run game from the Saints. Mix in some throws by Hill to keep yall guessing and we win something like 24-14 or 24-16.
  18. I fully expect your defense to play better. But our defense has been stifling the last 5 games. Absolutely stifling opponents. If your oline doesnt hold up like game 1, its gonna be a really long day for the Falcons.
  19. HOLY CRAP BRO! I just posted the original !!!!! ( one of my favorites! )
  20. one of my throwback favs from Atlanta ( outside of anything from Outkast of course )
