  1. I like your selections per position. I don't agree with where they are taken. I am hoping we double dip at the top of the draft again this year. Two years ago it was 2 CBs. This year I hope for two edge guys. I hope Preston Smith is there in the 2nd, and if not someone comparable to him.
  2. Wow, I get signing some depth players...but every signing has been for depth almost. Reed and Durant are starters yes...but that just speaks to how bad our LB rotation was. Same goes for this Moeaki signing, this guy is a #2 TE in this league. This is depressing. All that cap space spent on depth...not one high caliber starter. All that cap space is for 2 two above average and a load depth chart players. Come DQ, TD, sign at least one high caliber starter!
  3. stop telling people what to feel, think, express. That is what the boards are for. Sick of you board police that attack anyone who isnt singing the praises of the team, or Matt Ryan of course!
  4. I absolutely hate this off season thus far. I hated it before resigning Kroy, which is the icing on the cake! I realize that we need depth, and I didnt want them to pay an outrageous price for one defender. However, there are guys that we could have, maybe should have signed that wouldnt have broken the bank. i.e. Orakpo, Sheard, Graham etc. To sign guys like Reed(run stuffer and no pass rush ability, average in coverage) is highly questionable. He couldnt get 5 sacks as OLB in a 34 defense, with JJ Watt demanding double and triple teams. Durant is a nice player, but as usual...injury prone. Would rather have given that money to Orakpo...injury prone but proven pass rusher, or just keep Spoon, the heart and soul and leader of the defense. Adrian Clayborn? We have played him twice each year the last 4 years...he has done nothing to convince me that we need to add his underwhelming play to the many we already have. I would rather have signed Derrick Morgan or Michael Johnson or over Clayborn. MJ has shown he can get double digit sacks, granted with a talented D(unlike Brooks Reed). Obrien Schofield makes sense, we needed to bring at least one front 7 player from DQs system. He may even have potential, but he should have been paired with an Orakpo, Sheard, Graham, or even Morgan. Instead...he is paired with Reed/Bierman. Bierman is back! Yet Spoon and Peters are gone...head scratcher. I hope we make at least one move for a true impact player before the draft. At this point, I dont care what position it is...other than QB and K. I certainly hope Beasley or Fowler is there at 8. Looking at you Shane Ray today! Do well please...so that either other teams will want you, or...you will make a nice 3rd option behind those two! Just my feelings/opinions....I know the board police will attack if I dont praise the team or Matt Ryan in some form or fashion lol. I am a frustrated lover of the Atlanta Falcons!
  5. This FA period has been a true let down. Why have managed to sign ZERO impact players. I honestly dont see the difference in Reed vs Kroy, Schofield vs Spoon(rather have Spoon), Clayborn vs Peters(different positions but I rather had kept Peters vs sign this guy). Phillip Adams vs Mcclain or Wilson. All we have done is switch our rotational guys for new rotational guys. And one thing stayed true....injury prone average players that nobody else wants. The only signing with any potential is Durant, and even he is injury prone. It really is depressing, but I stay hopeful. With Jordan Cameron off the market, I wonder if DQ is even considering trading for Luke Wilson, now that the Seahawks have Graham(best part of FA thus far). I also wouldnt mind sending our 2nd to them for Bruce Irvin. We had better get Beasley or Fowler!
  6. Release - S Jackson, HD, Blaylock, J Mass, Baker(June 1) Resign - Bryant, Weatherspoon, Smith, Lowery, Arenas, Mathews, Dimarco Sign - B Maxwell, B Orakpo, Bruce Carter, Jordan Cameron, Matt Flynn Draft - 1 OLB - Vic Beasley 2 DE - Preston Smith 3 OG - Mitch Morse, 4 RB Javorius Allen, 5 WR - Chris Conley, 6 TE - Pharaoh Brown, 7 WR - Stephon Diggs Roster: QB - Matt Ryan, Matt Flynn RB - Freeman, Smith, Allen FB - FA hopefully WR - Jones, White, Hester, Conley, Diggs, FA TE - Cameron, Toilolo, Brown, FA OT - Mathews, Schraeder, Holmes, Scott OG - Asamoah, Morse, Gunn, Konz C - Hawley, Konz, Stone DE - Orakpo, Maponga, Goodman, Mathews, Smith DT - Jackson, Hageman, Soliai, Babineaux, FA OLB - Carter, Beasley, Shembo, Bartu MLB - Weatherspoon, Worrilow, Spruil CB - Trufant, Maxwell, Alford, Arenas, Allen FS - Lowery, Southward SS - Moore, Ishmael ST - Bryant, Bosher, Hester
  7. JPP in FA, and then draft Fowler or Beasley. That is the answer. If we can land JPP....either of those two would make a nice addition.
  8. Since it is likely going to be McDaniels or Quinn, which combination do you prefer? I can see success with either and in fact I am leaning towards McDaniels and Graham. I only say Patrick Graham because he is currently the Pats LB coach. I have no info to suggest that but its not far fetched either. The Belichick tree seems to stick together. Hence us bringing in Pioli and the strong interest now in McDaniels. It seems most of you guys dont want McDaniels. Would it be that bad of a hire? Im not so sure. He made mistakes in Denver for sure. He was young and arrogant. But at least he was aggressive and fiery! He returned to the Pats and has hopefully matured and possibly ready now. I love his offense for sure. His ability to adjust constantly...per the team/situation. The Ravens had complete control of that game, until McDaniels changed it up. he went to that short passing game, lots of comebacks, slants, and crossing routes....then Brady hit them over the top after sucking them in. Not to mention the WR pass and infamous "play of deception". It just goes to show the innovation McDaniels has. Some of it is probably Belichick(in terms of exploiting the rule book) and I get that. However, it is still McDaniels offense, scheme, play calling, and adjustments that stands out. Look at how he moves Gronk around to constantly create match ups. How often did Julio move in that manner? Not much. McDaniels offense is perfect for us. McDaniels maybe perfect for us as well...young, bright, great scheme, aggressive, fiery, and knows how to call/manage/adjust in a game. If he has settled down and matured under Belichick....him plus a good DC could be just what the doctor ordered. IJS. I paired Quinn/Shanahan cause they are the most attractive possible duo out there imo. And it its basically just the reverse of the McDaniels/Graham scenario. I honestly would be happy with either. I did want Ryan and Bowles but like you guys, I had to move on. I tried to analyze it and its obvious. The FO was not as high on either of them as the fans were, or else they would have been more aggressive. Its been out for a while now that TD and Pioli want JM. That maybe our reality...
  9. Like most of you, I thought TD should have been fired as well. However, I do not agree that he is equally to blame. TD has made mistakes yes, more than we care for. He has also hit on some draftees and signings. Im not going to go down the list of hits and misses because we know our history. I will say that TD has done enough for us to win. He didnt provide all the talent that he could have, but he provided enough for us to win the division this year. Unlike Smith, TD didnt single handedly lose 2 games for us this year. Isnt it ironic that is the exact number more games we needed to win? Yes, two more wins would have given us the division at 8-8. So when I think about the Lions and Browns games, it angers me even more. TD is not perfect and he is not bad either. The reason we see all his faults is because he is our GM. Im sure if we followed other teams closely, we would see that few GMs hit with the frequency of Ozzie Newsome. The bottom line is that TD is not great, not bad either...he is good, a solid GM. He has given us enough to have won the division this year. Smith and the coaching have failed since 2008 at the following: 1. Evaluating/developing talent 2. Placing our best players per the situation on the field 3. Creating favorable match ups for those players 4. In game adjustment on offense and defense 5. TIME MANAGEMENT, which is why we are out of the playoffs So again, there is a case for TD to be fired, but the bulk of the problems were coaching issues IMO. We got hit with injuries no doubt. However, the things we can control, we did poorly...and that was mostly coaching. I hope we bring in someone that fixes those 5 things. I actually hope we get Rex Ryan. He interviewed and Smitty beat him out. He wanted this job and I bet he still does. I like the idea of having possibly the best defensive mind in the NFL as our HC. This time he has an offense to work with. He took Mark Sanchez to two straight AFC Title games. So...when he builds up our defense(and he will), I expect the same with us. And he truly knows how to run the 34 defense. Nolan let us down big time this year, he could have done a much better job helping out the lack of talent we had on defense. Again....coaching hurt us more than anything...even more than injuries. Lets Get Rex Ryan and get back on track!
  10. 1 Get healthy - The players that arent out for the year, hopefully they come back this week and remain healthy. 2 Coaching - We all agree that we have seen some of the worst coaching in franchise history as of late. And that really speaks to how bad it is now. Nolan is currently performing the worst by far. Its so unnecessary and that makes it frustrating. We all wonder WTF at least a few times a game. Kroy in pass coverage, Worrilow at FS, Babs at DE(in 4 man fronts),Goodman standing up rushing, Ty Jackson has been placed out of position many times. And he flat doesnt use Peters nearly enough. The minimal use of the actual 3 best pass rushers that we have; Osi(still), Mass, and Maponga. I personally think Mass and Maponga should be the starting OLBs in our supposed 34 scheme. I dont mind seeing the OLBs drop into the flat, or short zone coverage...in a 34 they MUST be able to do that. Asking Kroy to chase RBs and slot WRs down field is just idiotic. I would like to see the following starting front 7: LDE - Jackson NT - Solia(sp) RDE - Peters LOLB - Mass ILB - Shembo ILB - Worrilow ROLB - Maponga Osi as the deignated pass rush specialist. We also need more creative zone blitzing. Bring the Safeties and NB more. The offense to me is very simple fix. Again, health is the number 1 thing here. The OL guys that arent on IR, hopefully return and stay in the line up. THEN - Give Smith 15 touches per game at a minimum. S Jax should actually be the change of pace back. Let him come in for tough yards, red zone, and obvious pass situations where we are looking down field(for pass protection). I think Smith and Freeman bring the most to the table and make the offense more dynamic. With line being a ? those check downs to Smith and Freeman could be deadly. Not just check downs, draw up plays for them! Roddy and Toilolo need to play better...period! They are both under performing. Maybe Roddy is at the end and its not there. Maybe its nagging injuries, I dont know...but he needs to step it up some. we dont need a lot from Roddy, just more than what he has given. I expected a savvy vet WR that knows how to get open and catches the ball consistently to move the chains. That big stiff TE we have, well....I never expected much from him anyway but if he can give us just a little improved play, it would help. If Blaylock stays in the line up, Konz delivers on his draft status, and Carimi can hold down RT...the offense will be fine. JJ and Matt Bryant are the only consistent players each week. Ryan needs to step it up too! Most of his struggles are from the OL I know that. But Ryan has been inaccurate quite a bit this year and thats many times without heavy pressure. In the Giant and Vikes losses he had open WRs and just missed them. But we know if he gets protected, he normally delivers. The season isnt lost yet. If the OL comes together and we give Smith the touches any fool can see he should get, we will be great on offense. If Mike Nolan simply stops the ridiculous schemes he is running and mis management of personnel, we will be ok. We wont be a good defense but I think we can be average or close to it. We had the #1 offense going into the game, even with all our problems...so if the defense plays around average the rest of the year, we can win.
  11. The draft has been good for thus far. TD tried to trade for Clowney, Mack, Sherzer, Ford etc. The effort was there and I commend him for sticking to his guns and not giving away our 2nd this year. Also for staying with his board and building on the promise of "toughness" and winning the line of scrimmage. We have clearly done that with adding Mathews, Hageman, along with the FAs we already added on both lines. I am liking the S pick of Dez Southward(D-SOUTH). Some are complaining because Brooks, Bailey, and Reynolds were on the board still. Brooks - 5'11, 198, 4.42 - very good speed but small, he is CB size. He has more polish yes but can he help us more? Im looking at our division, Graham in particular. Who has the better chance to cover Graham, Brooks or Southward? Nothing special about Bailey or Reynolds, although Reynolds has size at 6'1 207, so does Southward at 6'0 211 with much better strength and speed. The teams that had success with Graham either doubled him or used a good CB with size, i.e. Talib. If Southward can at least moderately contain Graham, and cover other TEs alone, that alone is worth the pick! Now, some names I am looking at today; OLB/RUSHER 1 Telvin Smith - 6'3, 218, 4.51 -very small but can gain weight ad be used as a pass rusher and tweener OLB/SS 2 Adrian Hubbard - 6'6, 257,4.69 3 Jackson Jeffcoat - 6'3, 247, 4.63 4 Jordan Tripp - 6'3, 234, 4.67 5 Lamin Barrow - 6'1,237, 4.64 6 Ron Powel - 6'3, 237, 4.65 7 Kevin Pierre Louis - 6'0, 232, 4.51 8 Cory Nelson - 6'1, 230, 4.60 9 Denicos, Allen, 5'11, 225, 4.49
  12. I do realize there is a drop off from Clwoney/Mack to Barr. I just dont agree that it is as large a margin as you. I dont necessarily want Barr. I said I would rather trade down and draft Barr with extra 2nd rounder, vs trading up for Mack/Clowney and losing picks. I realize you traded again in the 2nd to recoup 3rd rounders. I disagree with you about Bucannon, I do not think he is primarily an in the box FS. He plays coverage well and is willing to come up and hit or tackle. I also disagree that he is no better than Decoud in coverage...come on now!
  13. I dont like this one either. Starting with trading up. There is no reason to trade up at all! Stay at 6, and take Clowney, Mack, or Barr. I truly think Clowney or Mack will be there and if not, I like the upside on Barr. I would rather try and trade down, get picks, and Barr...verses trade up for Mack or Clowney. Deon Bucannon is who I want in the 2nd, with our original pick and that is pushing it...the guy is clearly 1st round talent and we are lucky if he is there when we choose in the 3rd. Also, I agree it will cost MUCH more than 2 third rounders. You can preach that teams wanting to trade down stuff all u want, NO TEAM, is going to just GIVE away the #2 spot...and in your sceneario that is exactly what you are suggesting with 2 third rounders. I would rather see a RB selected earlier, perhaps where you take back to back OL, which I didnt care for. RB has the greater value there I think. I always appreciate your effort...is cool to disagree.
  14. The only FACT that you stated is that there are tons of other threads. Have difficulty with you defining what is or isnt a good thread. Board Police!
  15. I dont have to try to make you look bad. You are doing a bang up job of that. "You know I'm right" makes me laugh... I can tell you everything you have said is OPINION based and quite frankly needless and pointless.
  16. Thank you for telling me where I am allowed to post and respond. Also thank you for your keen insight on my obvious need for attention. I tell you...gornd breaking work by you. So...in essence...you are board police.
  17. Actually...I would rather do away with "board police"...you may not realize this....the board is kinda here for that purpose...ya know...all things Falcons...questions, comments, concerns and eepecially OPINIONS.....you could always not read the posts that are titled with UGLY words like TRADE, UP, DOW,, CLOWNEY, MACK.....lol...wait....is lol ok?
  18. And that is because good players cant be found in rounds 3-7 right?
  19. Trading is cool but not to the point whree we cant get either of the big 3, Clowney, mack, or Barr
  20. Do not be shocked if TD does not take an OT within the first 2 rounds. I realize our current OTs arent to your liking and many of us liking. However, we have many players at that position, quite a few young guys. I would like to see another vet OT added in June after the next wave of cuts as well as draft a guy....just not in the first 2 rounds.
  21. I am not sure I get you. I realize you are being sarcastic, but I dont see how your comment applies to what I wrote. But oh well...
  22. Please do not trade up for any reason! Enough said on that. Please do not trade down....unless, Clowney and Mack are both gone. If we do trade down, I hope we are still able to acquire Barr, along with what ever compensation we receive. I for one think we need to get that edge player with the first pick and go OT later, and not later as in 2nd round either. I want and hope that Deon Bucannon is there in the 2nd. I would look at OT anywhere from 3-5. I keep hearing this talk on the boards "we have SO many holes to fill". Well I disagree. We do have holes but glaring holes I count 3. All can be had in this draft and all should start on this team in 2014. OLB, FS, TE All other areas at this point would be considered depth, even if they are taken with hopes they start in the future. And they could start as soon as next year even, I would hope that we take an OT, RB, and ILB in this draft. If we do, there is good chance none will start in 2014, but a good chance at least 2 could in 2015....if not all.
  23. I am torn between Morgan Moses and Deon Bucannon. I want both, neither will be there in the 3rd. as we know, the OT pool is much deeper than the S pool. We can probably get a decent OT later on. I think we should go FS in the 2nd, and if we do, I hope that is Deon Bucannon. 6'1- 211, 4.49!
