So you could be in the Braves bullpen.

Was it ever said why he was kicked off of the team?
Hard to have any nice words for him going to the Gators.

Thanks to all for another great year of recruiting info. I stumbled upon this forum 6 or 7 years ago and haven't felt the need to look elsewhere. Y'all keep me informed and entertained. Go Dawgs!!

Easy for someone not called that to say that I guess.

I don’t have a problem with Fields seeing if that incident would grant him a waiver unless they embellish the story by saying he was thinking about playing baseball or something and try to make the situation something it’s not. Obviously he transferred primarily for reasons associated with playing time, how he was being used, etc. Under the old rules it’s no question he sits, but the NCAA changed the rules on transferring and getting waivers so it doesn’t hurt to ask. The lawyer said the incident in and of itself may be enough to get the waiver granted. If they represent the situation honestly I don’t see a reason to be mad with Fields about it. Remains to be seen. Really don’t think it’s going to be a thing where they’re making UGA look bad, but I guess we’ll see.

Some people on here a little to mad. Wishing harm on people? So what he finds a loophole to play next year. All the other stuff that is against student athletes. This won't reflect badly on Georgia at all. Georgia still got the number two class. Attacking the kids character and his family? They have done nothing to hurt anyone. And if he was so bad to the team why did they let him play in bowl game?

If things like this get you upset enough to wish harm on someone, you need to look in the mirror and think how badly this reflects on you

Media really did a terrible job covering this whole thing. This kind of reporting rumors as valid information is usually reserved for politics.
A waiver can’t be filed until he’s enrolled at OSU... and then it is OSU’s decision to apply for the waiver or not and OSU employees file the paperwork. It’s not Justin or Pablo’s decision to make and certainly not before he is enrolled at OSU.
A baseball player shouting a racial slur at a game, while ridiculously stupid and handled appropriately by UGA, is not a violation of any regulations by UGA staff or coaches. Justin very obviously did not feel threatened and neither did the family as he didn’t seek to transfer for 3 whole months and his sister is still going to play softball there. Pat Forde’s ridiculous assertion that he was contemplating joining the baseball team just has no merit whatsoever.
I absolutely disagree with the idea UGA should just let it go. The NCAA grants waivers whenever they want but I can’t see them simply buckling to a claim of... what, institutional racism at UGA leading Justin Fields to transfer? Meanwhile probably 90% (or more) of the football team is black and feels just fine lol
Don't bite on all the rumors. They may apply for a waiver but that racial thing is not going to get it done and may not even be the grounds they use for a waiver request. I won’t be surprised if he just sits out his year altogether.

bingo, its annoying yeah but at the end of the day I'm not about to be mad at anyone looking out for themselves especially when it involves potential to make millions of dollars in the next 4 years. We look out for ourselves daily, this is a game to us but this is a life changing decision for them.

Which brings up two questions in my mind:
    1. What, if anything, was promised to Fields?
    2. What did Fields think he was entitled to get?
I don't think anyone here knows the answer to either of these questions so any assertions that Fields was treated unfairly, or that Fields is a selfish prima donna are without any basis of fact.

And this is the pertinent time to point you to the very lengthy Justin Fields transfer thread where all of THAT discussion has been beaten to death for the last two weeks. The reason I was short with you in the first place is that this has been a thoroughly traveled road around here already. You see how testy people are already getting with it being brought up in the new recruiting thread.

Guys, unless Luke Skywalker is a 5 star recruit, can we please get this thread back to recruiting?  Every time I see unread posts I think there is some recruiting news, but it turns out to be a Entertainment Tonight episode.
No offense, but take it elsewhere please.

That's what I would want but I know a lot of that is for selfish reasons. Seems like a good kid and I think he'll be a good player somewhere. I haven't heard anyone question his work ethic so I see success in his future

I agreed with a lot of this post, but why the last paragraph? Seems like he has good reason to leave. There is also a guy ahead that he will likely not beat. Success isn't guaranteed anywhere but barring injury he would have only one year at Georgia since I think a redshirt is unlikely. He should have never come to Georgia if they didn't have a plan to get him two years that he was on board with in case he didn't win job.

Not understanding the criticism of Herrien as a player.  He is a really solid player - picks up first downs, blocks well, good YPC, doesn’t fumble and is versatile- no diva in him at all.   If anything, I would say he’s underrated.

I seriously don’t get why everyone is so bent out of shape on this.

If he leaves I hope the best for him

if he stays I hope the best for him.

Its really simple. Don’t let it control your life.

Hope he stays. Seems early to throw in the towel, but maybe he's seen enough to know he can't win the job.

The timing is great imo. At least they know they have to sign a quarterback. Throw that blue shirt stuff out the door. Guys on here don't seem worried about plumlee but I sure am

So I won’t be able to watch this game as it happens Saturday and may not be able to avoid seeing updates. Birthday time for my eldest and her mom is coming in from out of town to visit, so we’re gonna be doing things.
My daughter wants to end up at Buffalo Wild Wings, she made that known lol... so I might see the end of the game but I’m assuming in any case I will hear about it and see scores while we are there. Don’t think I can avoid looking at the TVs.
I’ll have it recorded though and probably watch it Saturday night or sometime Sunday. I just hate watching a game for the first time when I already know the outcome.

A lot of talk about a possible Fields transfer. I really hope this is wild speculation and conjecture. At this point, Georgia can't afford to let either guy go. If Fields left, what would be left in the room? A bunch of walk-ons and a Freshman QB who isn't that highly rated?
So I personally think Smart needs to do whatever it takes to make both guys stick around for at least next year. If that means playing Fields more and an open competition through the fall then do it. To me, next year is the year this team could have a chance at winning it all.
