I actually agree here. I think Schlenk is trying to build a team that can break scoring records first and eventually develop some defense. We'll know if that's the case after this draft, I guess.

Trying to mold us like GSW is simply impossible because Collins will never be Draymond Green. He will be a better scorer than Draymond, but nowhere close to as good a defender. Huerter will also never be a Clay Thompson. Sure, he may end up being close to the offensive production as Clay, but never the defender. So "The Big 3" Hawks version isn't possible. We are going to need an elite defender at our 3 position AND our 5, plus Trae, Huerter, and Collins to step up their defending or we're never going to come close.

Just look at 2013-16 GSW teams. Harrison Barnes averaged 9-12 ppg and only shot three 3pt'ers pg and made only one on average. You're telling me RJ Barrett is a weaker link to our very similarly built offense than Harrison Barnes? Barrett would fit just fine. We got people here insisting Reddish and Little would fit on this team and Barrett is at least twice the shooter they are, if not more.

That's a bit extreme. Sorry, but if we had the 4th pick and Culver went #3, I'd pick Barrett in a heartbeat and be giddy about it. Barrett has a higher offensive ceiling than Culver, but a lower defensive one. Culver is going to be a notch down on offense compared to Barrett, but he's going to be a defensive all-star. Culver is ultimately more well-rounded, but he's also 2 years older. Nobody is going to be disappointed drafting RJ Barrett. He probably won't ever win any defensive awards, but he's going to be dropping 30 point games with frequency in a few years.

Culver has the ceiling of a Paul George. That's a much better comparison.

So word out of the Knicks is this was a legit offer. 8+10 for 3, and Knicks declined. If we’re trying to move up to 3 or 4, it’s GOT to be Culver that we covet. Nothing else logically makes sense.

    Picks 12, 14, 15, 17, and 19. Seems about right.

Zion went down with injury and Reddish played even worse. So he pretty much proved to everyone it had nothing to do with being sandwiched between Zion and RJ. That said, he's still not near the same realm as Culver, which was the point. And why would there be any reason to move up to 5 for him? If we pick Reddish, I'll of course root for him and hope he develops into a star, but I just don't see it at this moment.

Ugh, that would make me sick. And it makes no sense. How the he!! could anyone look at those two and think Reddish is better, or has better upside, than Culver??? You don't even have to be average at evaluating what's good and bad in basketball to see that Culver is in a different stratosphere than Reddish at every level of play.

After signing our rookies, we won't have near the $29M in cap space for Love, so it's clear the only possibility that includes him is if there's a 3rd team involved that's getting Love. Honestly, if I was 100% certain we could get Culver at #5, I'd absolutely trade 10+17 straight up for 5. We'd pick #5, #8, and then use our three seconds to move back into late first. Go Culver, Goga or Clarke, then Cam Johnson or Kabengele.

I like Cam Johnson late too. Check out Dylan Windler and Chuma Okeke too. All good late first options for a 3 coming off the bench.

I still don’t get what anyone is seeing in Reddish. There is nothing at all impressive in this highlight reel. He moves so slow with the ball it’s infuriating. And that’s a “highlight” video. Now go find a couple actual games and watch the whole thing. He misses shots at a staggering rate and just stands around with the ball for seconds at a time over and over and over, strangely indecisive about what to do with it, and then makes an ineffectual pass. Almost never creating shots or helping spacing or opening the offense up. God I hate highlight reels. They fool too many of you guys.

Crap, so basically we have to make a deal with Lakers/Pelicans for #4 or we aren’t getting Culver. Have to leapfrog Cleveland or the whole plan is jumbled.

Suns are already out of the picture, from what's being rumored. We definitely want in on this deal to secure #4, because we don't want the Pelicans picking at #4, because they would very likely take Culver if so. If we get in on the deal, it means we're likely getting #4 and handing the Pelicans #8, while we also take on Solomon Hill and/or Lonzo Ball (my guess is both, and both contracts are expiring). We would probably have to sweeten the deal with one or even two of our second round picks as well. If the Wizards are somehow also involved in this then I don't know WTF could be happening, unless maybe they are dealing Beal or Wall, which wouldn't make sense because neither the Lakers or Pelicans have room for either of those contracts. The Wizards have pick #9 and virtually nothing else to offer, except next year's first. But next year's first isn't going to help the Lakers or Pelicans get under the cap. Only we can do that, while also having #8/10/17/35/41/44 + potentially 3 first round picks next year which could also be dealt. God I hope we get in on this deal. #4 would guarantee us Culver.

If our haul at the top is just Clarke and Bitadze, I'm going to be seriously disappointed.

Let's say the Lakers ship #4 to the Pelicans for AD. Who are the Pelicans picking at that spot? The Knicks would have likely picked Barrett at #3. So it's a strong chance the Pelicans would pick Culver at #4. Which would suck for us.

Yep. This reduces our roster down to 10 players, and at the moment we still have 6 draft slots. Right now it just looks like we're freeing up room and Davis is the odd man out.

Watched some of his film (actual games and not just highlights) over the past few weeks, and he's simply not a fit for our system. Doesn't pass/facilitate and rarely shoots. When he does shoot, he misses A LOT. I was watching one of his games, and in a 5 minute stretch, at one point, he got the defensive rebound, ran straight up the court to his basket 6x without passing the ball once and only taking one shot from 10' out while the rest were some attempted acrobatic layup. He's fast and can seriously slash to the basket, but wow is he a ball-hog. Dude can defend and get to the basket, though.

Yeah I like Herro. He’s Huerter 2.0, except maybe even slightly more athletic.

So much is riding on what the Knicks and Lakers decide to do. They could make things align perfect for us or they could totally demolish our game plan. There’s not really an in between. If Knicks stay and pick RJ, and Lakers stay and pick Garland, I am 90% sure the Cavs would give us a sweetheart deal to move up to 5. Something like we give them 10 and 17, they give us 5 and the 2020 top-10 protected changes to a top-5 protected. If we want Culver, I’m pretty certain we will have to move up to 5 IF he makes it past 3 and 4. If the Knicks and Lakers trade their picks, which is quite possible, it’s likely because somebody else wants Culver very badly. Lakers are disenchanted with Ball, though. LeBron doesn’t seem to like him. And they are showing a lot of interest in Garland. If we don’t get the Cavs pick, there’s still a good chance to get Suns at 6. But if Culver is picked at 5, or sooner, by Cavs or someone else, then I don’t think we move up at all. If that happens, I think we double-dip wings at both 8 and 10, or even move back with one of them and pickup another first next year. I think Culver is this year’s KL and I hope we do whatever it takes to get him.

Yep, Koonin just pretty much said this on Dukes and Bell, that the Nets will pick a certain player at 17 and then on July 6th that player will be traded. He couldn't directly say it because of NBA rules, but he basically told us 17 is not in play for any kind of package deals. Whomever the Nets pick at 17 is coming to us. So don't include 17 in any of your mocks, if any of you make one. (*caugh* @g-dawg, sorry bro)

I like this kid. True center that checks all the Schlenk boxes.

I'm not a big fan of Hayes either because he has no perimeter shot, but the dude is a pick and roll scoring machine on the inside. He's basically John Collins, except he's a true Center, AND he's a defensive machine to boot. But look at his OWS (.150). It's stellar. Now imagine that with a facilitator like Trae. Trae would average 15 freaking assists with Collins at the 4 and Hayes at the 5. We'd be the Alley-oop kings of the NBA. That said, I actually sort of agree with you, though. I think Bruno Fernando has a higher ceiling offensively and only slightly less ceiling defensively, and might actually be the better fit. A big who can shoot AND protect the rim is the higher value in this version of the league. Plus, Fernando actually has some handles too, which Hayes lacks. Fernando is under-rated, IMO. Don't be surprised to see him go much earlier. I really wish Bol wasn't such an injury concern. But I've pretty much pushed him off my board because I just don't want to risk wasting the pick on an injury-prone guy. Hunter, on the other hand, checks every box. He can shoot, shoot for 3, slash, pick and roll, pass, create, rebound, and defend. He reminds me of Paul Pierce and I firmly believe he has that potential.

So with all my research, this is what I'm seeing/hearing.... Obviously 1, 2, & 3 are set. Zion, Ja, and RJ going to Pelicans, Grizz, and Knicks. Then the Lakers are desperate for a shooter, plus there is some uncertainty at PG because ZoBall is potentially trade bait and he's apparently not gelling with LeBron, plus Rondo is long in the tooth and at odds with LeBron too. So a lot of reports coming out that Lakers are going Darius Garland, who fills both of those categories, IF they don't trade their pick(+) to the Pelicans for AD. And if the Pelicans end up with the 4th pick, they have holes everywhere but starting PG & PF (obviously because Zion is now there, plus Jrue Holliday is a pretty good PG, and they'd obviously lose AD), so they would probably be leaning Reddish, Culver, or Hunter. Quite possibly team Reddish up with Williamson again. The Cavs biggest needs are SG/SF, and at the 5th pick they have 3 guys to choose from that are a perfect combo 2/3 in Culver, Reddish, and Hunter. Word is they are all in on Culver if he's there and doesn't get snagged at 4. The Suns have basically told the world they need a PG, so it's virtually a guarantee they go with whichever is still there between Darius Garland or Coby White. Unless some crazy trade happens and some PG needy team leapfrogs them, they'll get one of those two guys. The Bulls are an enigma. Kris Dunn is okay, but nothing special. They have no true PF's because they run this weird Big/Small play style with a bunch of SG/SF combo's and a couple 5's. They desperately need defense, like us, but they also could use a true wing too. My guess is if they stay there and don't trade back (which has been rumored they are looking to do), then Reddish, Hunter, and Doumbouya are probably the 3 they are mulling over. Maybe Clarke or even PJ Washington too. I have this gut feeling we may even package 8 or 10 with a couple 2nd round picks to the Bulls to move up to 7 to guarantee we get Hunter if he's still there, and then Hayes with our other. Why would we move up 1 pick? Because we don't want the Bulls trading 7 to someone else who then leapfrogs us by 1 and grabs our guy. The Bulls, who are desperate for assets, get more picks and don't really sacrifice anything since they aren't in need of an immediate starting scorer. And we end up picking 7th and 8th or 7th and 10th, and then get one more in the 2nd round. We get two of the best defenders who also fit our offense. So yeah, my hope is we go Hunter and Hayes. And if not Hayes, then Bruno Fernando, who I actually think I like more than Hayes.
