BoomGoesTheDynamite got a reaction from Knight of God in But what about the offensive line
Got James Carpenter from the Jets and Jamon Brown from the Giants to help with the O-line.
Draft will more than likely focus on the Dline for the most part and maybe the secondary.

We will draft at least 2 OL this year. We have been hyper focused on OL draft prospects.
Many keep thinking a trade would only be moving up in 1st, which is still possible. But it’s possible we grab a RT with it too.
its also possible we trade down in 1st, and trade up in 3rd, to get 3 second round picks.
We are also bringing backup Patriot swing  OT in for a workout Monday. He’s only 26 years old, and played well when called up in his 3 years.

We gave up the most pass yards on 1st down more than likely because we didn’t have Debo , started a rookie LB, and missing Neal and Allen. The whole middle of the defense. I’d wager that most of those yards came from hitting rb’s out the backfield than just wr’s because duke was starting at MLB. Kazee made some plays but he wasn’t Allen. Allen limited big plays. Kazee left his corners out to dry at times because he could be looked off much easier than Allen. It wasn’t because of the push up front. Not the main culprit because teams were looking to take advantage of the fact we didn’t have Debo, Neal, and Allen.

Also teams might bring out 3 wr’s on 1st down, which they do a lot, which means we’d have pass rushing dt’s out because we’d be in nickel. Again not having Debo says the RB will be able to get a nice chunk out the backfield. Also the missed tackles is another reason on 1st down. Duke, Richards, etc...RAC yardage. I don’t think it had quite as much to do with up front than the fact of missing the middle of the defense. Especially when Grady was out. Ppl tend to think 1st down means run defense. No. You still have to match personnel so if the offense sends out 3 or more wr’s we won’t be in base. We’ll be nickel or dime.

BoomGoesTheDynamite reacted to Tim Mazetti in Tony Pauline: Falcons eyeing DT, CB, or trade down in first round
Per the super-plugged-in reporter, Thomas Dimitroff now knows he can trade down in the draft.
By Matthew Chambers Apr 11, 2019, 7:18pm EDT   We have spent the last few weeks at the Falcoholic trying to figure out how far up the Falcons will need to trade to land Ed Oliver. We may be on the wrong trail entirely with Thomas Dimitroff rumored to do what he’s never done before: trade down in the first round.
Tony Pauline, the long-time draft analyst and first reporter linking the Falcons to Keanu Neal back in 2016, and reported the Falcons were discussing trading up with the Seahawks in 2017 before trading up with the Seahawks in 2017, has more Falcons news.
And it’s huge, per The Draft Analysts podcast with Pauline and Chris Tripodi.
Pauline, who linked the Falcons heavily to Da’Ron Payne last season, suggests they still are looking for a tackle that can help win in the trenches. When Payne was drafted, the Falcons decided against drafting for need and went with better value in Calvin Ridley.
Pauline mentions Greedy Williams, Ed Oliver, Christian Wilkins, and Dexter Lawrence as potential fits but does not state the Falcons are actually interested in any of those players. Pauline believed Lawrence could be a Payne-type of big body in the middle and he has received a lot of positive attention this offseason.
There was no mention of a trade up, a defensive end, or offensive lineman. The Falcons could certainly use depth at corner, but a starter only makes sense if they plan to move on from Desmond Trufant’s salary after 2019. He’d save the team $10.75 million if designated as a post-June 1st cut.
Quinn recently identified his top three draft needs as DB, DE, and DT. Pauline’s report is consistent with that statement but provides some additional information on the team’s plans. It is possible the staff expects to miss out on top defensive end prospects by 14 or they like later round players.
If the Falcons succeed in trading down, they will almost certainly keep trading. They currently hold 9 draft picks which is already too many to realistically fit on their 53-man roster.

BoomGoesTheDynamite reacted to vel in Dan Quinn identifies three positions of need for Falcons as draft nears
Not sure if I missed this getting posted or if someone posted it and it was overlooked, but I think it's worth revisiting:
All defense. We spent majority of the free agent capital and moves on offense. With DQ taking over the defense, there is no way he's going to not zone in on what he needs to make this thing hum and go and get it in the next few weeks. Out of all of the positions he could have named, he named three defensive spots. I think there is a reason there is more room for big changes on the defense than offense. Adding a stud DE at #14 changes that group. Same with DT. Adding a first round talent at CB at #45 like we got with Oliver gives you more strength in the secondary to play aggressive.
The way I see it: unless TD can move up for very cheap, I think they stay put at #14 and use the first three picks on defense at these position groups to add very good to elite talent to that unit. I don't see them going offense unless they have no choice otherwise (i.e. Ridley) due to the value being too great. We'll see, but DQ made it quite clear in my opinion he's not satisfied with the defense since he's been here and him taking over already speaks to that. I think the draft will also. Especially when you consider the possibility of Rico and Neal not being 100%. You need to be ready to make up for that difference.

We will if they get it together on defense. The offense is amazing as is. Even with Sark

Only thing I'm worried about is playing IN Philly. Other than that, ain't scared of the Eagles especially if the offense can come on.
