Watching how cool his dad handled this was a great life-lesson for his son. Pure class in my book.

Pretty Awesome!    We got a winner, folks!  This is amazing for a first year receiver!   Shout out to Taylor Gabriel too - hated to see him leave - awesome player!

An impressive stat for an impressive rookie. By Adnan Ikic@SayWhichWay  Feb 15, 2019, 8:00am EST SHARE   Photo by Julio Aguilar/Getty Images
Calvin Ridley had no business falling to pick No. 26 in the NFL draft last year. He essentially fell into Atlanta’s lap because of draft talk fatigue and general managers talking themselves out of love with the best wide receiver in the class, and he’s proven it.
Ridley came into his first NFL season as the most polished rookie wide receiver in his class, and he was expected to make an impact right away. His crisp route running was on display all year, and it was even better than I thought it was. RotoUnderworld, which is powered by NexGen Stats, highlighted just how effective Ridley was at getting himself open for quarterback Matt Ryan:
View image on Twitter In addition to creating the most separation among all qualified WRs, Ridley was also sixth among all players in the NFL in QB rating when targeted. Matt Ryan had a staggering 129.0 QB rating when throwing the ball in Calvin Ridley’s direction this season — the highest mark on the team.
Ridley finished the season leading all rookies in receiving yards with 821 and receiving touchdowns with 10. His 64 total receptions were second among all rookies, behind only Offensive Rookie of the Year Saquon Barkley.
Ridley finished third among all Falcons in receiving yards, and he led the team in receiving touchdowns. The best is yet to come, as Ridley is expected to take up an even greater role in the team’s passing offense next season.

He went with the accepted "it was all on me" speech and I respect that...
However, he could have broken out of the standard mold and gone for immortality, like John McKay when asked about his team's execution. The whole world knows Mckay's reply ~ "I'm in favor of it."
He could've brought down the presser if he'd started out, "I know now that in the early days of Super Bowl week our team was being watched closely by an intelligence far greater than mine. Across an immense cerebral gulf a mind that is to my mind as mine is to the beasts in the jungle; intellectually vast, cool and unsympathetic regarding our team and our Lombardi hopes, slowly and surely drew his plans against us..."

I mean this is definitely a dream scenario.
    Few things:
-I don't know why everyone is jumping ship on Alford/Trufant after a down year. Cornerback is a hard position that's easy to criticize and a lot of it just comes down to luck. Many of the best corners in the NFL have had up and down seasons. Think Marcus Peters or Patrick Peterson. Heck who would have though Kyle Fuller would be an All-Pro CB this year?
-I don't mind the Kwon signing but it seems like a luxury more than a need. It would be cool to have 3 straight MLB starters from LSU though just cause its interesting.
-We wont be able to trade into the first again, just wont happen and Lawrence wont be there. I think i'd rather got 1. DL 2. OG

Say we trade down from #14 to #32. We only pick up a second rounder (#41). Not worth it. Free up some space and fix the holes in free agency and stop looking to solve all of our 2019 issues with rookies that will take 2-3 years to settle down.

I agree with you here. No reason to hate the guy. Anybody in these forums would've taken that contract. That's a no brainer. He has family to feed. Why blame him for taking advantage of Dimiroffs offer? I don't think anybody would disagree. I am not a td hater, but frankly I think as g dawg said, Dimitroff's worst move as our gm was to sign Baker to that ridiculous contract. I felt that way the minute the news broke. Don't feel any different now.

Lot of venom in the thread. No doubt he was a liability as he hasn't played hardly any in the last couple years exacerbated by his lucrative contract. I said in another thread a couple weeks back that if he wasn't ready to compete at TC, they should cut him. I can only assume his rehab was not coming along given recent reports and it is time for us to move on. I do wish him well though.

    So it's ignorance clearly.

Do you deliberately ignore facts or is it just ignorance?

Pioli is highly influential, but I agree -- the notion that TD will be fired and replaced with Pioli is nonsense. Pioli is a great talent evaluator but he flamed out in KC because he lacks personnel management skills. He essentially freaked everyone out. TD is a great personnel guy, but he has been hit and miss on talent evaluation. The success, if it comes, will be from collaboration from those two and maximizing what they do well, which is why we restructured the FO.
If it doesn't work, both will be fired. There is no "get rid of TD and keep Pioli" option. I'd be willing to bet on that.

Also the guy who drafted Matt Ryan and has a job in football, unlike someone I know...

That's it. Never give up little guy! You just keep trying no matter how obvious you are. Always persevere!

Lol at "find out" You and a few others already 100% believe that TD was the main problem anyway. Smith doesn't need to release a book to get you to believe that.

Right, because Smith had absolutely zero culpability. Lmao. I really get tired of the "team Smitty" or "team TD" crap. I realize that's not your thing, your just an innocent troll who knows not what he means.

You're heading down a slippery slope man. Almost remind me of ffs7. whatever. I actually have always enjoyed your post until this phase of your tenure. Beating your chest over and over and over and over and OVER AND OVER AGAIN really doesn't rub people kindly to say the least. It's downright obnoxious at this point actually.

That isn't what he said at all.He basically said all you do is come here to argue and that no matter what anybody says you will never change your perspective on any given issue. Some of us come on here and actually listen to the "other" side of an issue and actually change our opinions based off of counterpoints to our argument. Some of us are so caught up on proving we're right we never even give the other persons argument a second of thought before trying to prove it wrong.

I kind of laugh every time Matt is ranked outside of the top 8 or something like that while everybody gets all up in arms. When that happens you can find at least two or three qbs that have no business being ranked ahead of Ryan. However, this instance really takes the cake imo. Talk aboutt out of touch! Dalton, Tannehill, Cutler?!? Lmao

Your plan last offseason to trade Ryan for picks and draft Johnny Football... can you expand on that a bit? It sounded intriguing.
