  1. Hopefully the starters will be more disciplined in the weeks to come. I was hoping for a clean game at least I could lean on that as something the coaching staff emphasizes. But the 1st and 15s and 2nd and 20s are like a plague here. Hopefully Arthur has the remedy. Everyone run laps tomorrow.
  2. Like Kurt pointed out in his first video Matt still can make all the throws and make plays at a high level. I think that some times he is indecisive, late, or makes the wrong read. It happens to the best of them. Maybe it is bad route construction by the coordinator, no faith in some of his receivers or oline, or just his game slipping it still falls on him because he is the QB1. "This is the business that he has chosen." He will get the praise win we win and be the scapegoat when we lose. Also the thing I have always liked and thought was his strength was his anticipation. Going back to his first pass to Michael Jenkins he would always let it fly before or just as the reciever seperated. Now he has a little hitch. Hopefully Arthur's scheme, and "speed" training helps him with that.
  3. I don't think it was an overly pro Matt Ryan video I think he said he will be looking at some of Matt`s more questionable throws later. The biggest thing I saw was that Calvin`s intermediate and deep route running is elite. The problem is that with a aging qb, subpar oline and non existent run game we should be in the business of guys who can when in short areas. This will help in the redzone and can be an extension to our run game. Hopefully the Te`s help that this year.
  4. Going to be even harder to evaluate the back up receivers now. From the AAF games i saw avoiding pressure and moving the ball down field are not his strengths.
  5. Right now Julio i want to see how Deion bounces back from injury. I also think like Keanu his fit is best for a DQ defense so if God forbid we have to move on from DQ he may not fit the new regimes philosophy. I think Julio could be Julio in any scheme.
  6. I think the economics of the situation have a lot to do with this draft. Some of our defensive impact players are coming up on second contracts so you have to find skilled rookies on cheaper contracts on offense. You hedge your bets with solid veteran backups. Even with guys like Ridley, Hooper, and Coleman being solid offensive contributors the drafts in the DQ era have been primarily defensive focused. Due to the contracts on offense.
  7. Can the lack of top 100 players be used to assess the amount of talent on a team. I mean I see Gil Brandts list, then I see guys like, Neal, Jones, Mack and Grady get no mentions. It makes me wonder are they really that underrated on a "players voted" list or am I looking at there play through falcon fan blinders.
  8. I know he connected with Gonzo and Snelling on many TDs while on the move but this is the most memorable play to me probably because it was the playoffs. Still hate Rodgers.
  9. Every time I here about Matt throwing on the run or rolling I think of this play. Not sure if I like cutting off half the field especially with the weapons we have now.
  10. I argue with Seahawks/anti-falcon fans often and the one thing I agree with them on is that it seemed that a lot of the competition talk from the prior staff was just lip service. There was a glass ceiling on developing players once they found someone they liked. You did not see players full potential by seeing them run with the first team, or simply paying attention and fitting the scheme toward allowing guys to do what they do best. They were constantly trying to fit a square peg into around hole.
  11. My moral compass is broken after the last two seasons. Incognito was looking good earlier this off-season and now Aldon could probably punch a baby and i would still say give him a look. I mean look at this guy.
  12. I thought Freeman, TC, and Antone had the running back position locked but Terron Ward's name has consistently come up the first couple of days of camp. The Shanahan's have gotten a lot out of undrafted backs. If he can give anything close to the effort tone used to give on special teams Armstrong could have a hard decision on his hands. Before camp Dled an Bill Polian said he had a legit shot at sticking with the squad.
  13. Great video JBO awesome job but the 49er interception strip has to be in there man. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QeDCk2XVhZA
  14. Delhomme staring at D-line brown crap stain on back of shorts/pads Falco makes comment thats what you get from eating at Bojangles.
  15. I think our reputation as a power running team should have helped us draw more defenses closer to the line of scrimmage helping with the intermediate passing game in the middle of the field but with Turner being injured late and not being very efficient early, teams were able to cover a lot more space. I also think that the running backs should be able to get into this area with the attention our recievers draw. The deep middle is more of a timing thing I think I remember Roddy talking about the skinny post being one of his favorite routes and it is all timing. Offensive line issues and injuries to a QB's toe have to hurt that timing. The rest comes down to our QB's confidence in throwing over the middle we are assuming that MM is keeping Ryan in some type of cage maybe he wsa not confident making that throw yet. He is a smart QB he seems to make good reads
  16. I think that the QB's that we will be facing this season has a lot to do with this. Last year we faced some of the NFL's more elite and experienced QB's so BVG probably was not willing to come press the issue and hurt our young secondary. We are going to go against some young and middle of the road QB's this year that blitzing should have a greater effect on.
  17. This has been something that has baffled me for years Offensive Guys like Billick, Ditka, and this year Josh Mcdaniels are blessed with some of the best defenses in history while guys like Marvin Lewis (before this season) Mike Smith and Jim Mora struggle. Even Tony Dungy Mr. Tampa Two had one of the greatest QB's in history line up for him. It takes a talented bunch of assistants to teach your philosophy and a GM to get the players to fit your philosophy. What Zimmer has done in Cincinnati in 2 seasons is incredible and what Mike Nolan has done in Denver in one season is even more amazing and they are both well established coaches at this level and not to take a shot at BVG, he is not. Also TD has been trying to find the correct people to fit Smitty's scheme but some preexisting contracts to lackluster players and injuries have hampered his progress. It may take time but I think we will get the coaching/player personnel mixture to allow us to see our defensive minded coach's philosophy in action.
