+1000... How about: "You don't need the best receiver to win a SB?" Conveniently omitting: Jerry Rice, Randy Moss, Michael Irvin, Lyn Swann, John Stallworth... Etc."Reminds me of the post Trent Dilfer, "You don't need a star QB" era or was it error?

The revamped running game added to what we have with our passing game is going to be a handful.

We all have a pretty good idea that Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones is a pretty good player. I might go so far as to call him above average.

According to Pro Football Reference, Julio has the highest receiving yards per game in NFL history. That means better than everyone, everywhere. He averages an insane 88.4 receiving yards per game.

Are his numbers better than Calvin Johnson? YES, JULIO IS BETTER THAN EVERYONE. Julio is one of the few in the top 10 on a team with other legitimate pass catching targets as well. Even more impressive, Julio is the youngest (26) in the top 20, except for T.Y. Hilton (25).

Julio has averaged one yard more per game than Calvin Johnson, and 7.2 yards more per game than the third wide receiver on the list, A.J. Green. Julio and Johnson are statistical outliers, while the remaining pass catchers, Andre Johnson, Josh Gordon, Torry Holt, and Demaryius Thomas are separated by only fractions of a yard.

For reference, Roddy White is 33rd on the list with an impressive 66.8 yards per game average.

Julio's pace is obviously impressive. On the field, he is absolutely Calvin Johnson-esque, simply in a league of his own. He should be entering the prime years for a wide receiver just as Matt Ryan enters the prime years for a quarterback. If he can stay healthy, there is no reason that Julio cannot improve on his prior numbers and elevate that much further above every other wide receiver in NFL history.

I have argued with a lot of people on the internet in my time. I've only come across one individual who does the following...
*Explained by the man himself, as O-line Guru*
    Posted 12 May 2013 - 03:23 PM
When responding, I generally number the line responded to, and my retort is similarly numbered line by line.
    http://boards.atlantafalcons.com/topic/3978237-falcons-weakest-link/page-2
Here is an example, found in a thread he created about the (surprise!) Falcons O-line:
    Posted 04 April 2013 - 06:10 PM
    1) Eric Winston has been released for non-salary cap reasons two years in a row. Started a big row over the supposed cheering of an injury. Andre is a better, bigger, stronger, younger option.
    2) Brian Winters isn't likely to be any better than the marginal talents we already have. And he has a torn pec muscle already.
    3) There are other, better options at T, and dude is not a G.
    4) O-line picks are never a waste.
    http://boards.atlantafalcons.com/topic/3975466-clabo-gone-ok-lets-see-the-big-picture/page-1
Here he is at it again, this time playing the character of MikeKennHOF:
    Posted 23 May 2014 - 06:34 AM
    1) Hasn't played the position? He is a 4 year starter!!! Ê at RT, 1 at LT. He played exceptionally well at both! You need to get your head on straight.
    2) You never heard of Southward because despite fantastic measurables, he exhibited no playmaking instincts. You can't coach instincts. Southward's name describes his NFL future.

    3) Shembo is the first Falcon in 40+ years that I actually hate. His sexual battery against an innocent girl, and the subsequent threats from his gang of friends led to her suicide. I hold him responsible for her death. I hope he bombs completely out of the league. A string of painful and debilitating injuries wouldn't hurt my feelings, either.

Spare me, dough boy. Other members here get spoken to respectfully. Not so for the sock accounts of those who have been banned several times over.
And thanks for pointing out that Hageman thread. There was an interesting response from a certain poster regarding where Hageman's critics from last year all went:
Still here? But I thought you were out on the plains of Texas driving cattle and singing 'Home on the Range' under the stars about this time last year. And how do you know so much about Hageman's college career anyway? I can't imagine you watched a lot of Minnesota U games on the ol' satellite dish back in 2013.
Now, don't you have a big plate of Chef Boyardee Beefaroni to go bury your face in?

And yet somehow you knew that Konz possessed a pair of "moobs." Something one might discover, say, looking at online photos from training camp posted on a team website. Not exactly the type of info you would find at the Hedley public library or chatting up folks at the local feed store, is it?
And just how did you know to use "/purple" to denote sarcasm? That is something exclusive to this place, started years ago - back when you would have been occupied with farm work or whatever bullsh*t activity you claim to have been engaged in for the last four years.

Your refusal to admit I have a point does not make for strawman, just bringing up one of your blind spots
Part of the problem is you assume that Quinn, Pioli, Blank, Shanahan and the rest have somehow allowed TD to not fix the Oline, which is just ludicrous. That's just not how FOs work. The draft and FA are a collaboration between the HC, GM and the rest of the FO.
If there is a gaping hole at LG right now, then, yes indeed, everybody in the FO failed.
Once again, if it's mind boggling, etc, that the Falcons have failed to fill the LG spot, then the whole FO is incompetent. It's the only logical conclusion. If the FO has the same opinion about LG that you do, then they are insane to go into the season with that unfixed.
However, as I pointed out, Falcons filled half a dozen spots in FA, filled 4 needs with the first 4 picks, got a bargain at 5, got a couple of interesting pieces late, signed a couple of FBs out of the UDFAs.
At every point in that process, they could have chosen to take a guard, they didn't. They had a very logical, well thought team building during the off season.
If the Falcons FO had the same thoughts about guard that you do, they could have brought in another FA or drafted a guard with picks 2 ,3 or 4. They didn't.
They think that someone on the roster can handle it. Anything else is insane on their part. I see no evidence of insanity from this front office.
But, hey, if you want to panic, feel free, just don't expect me to join you in that. I'm done, you have fun with the sky is falling because of TD schtick.

Why oh why doesn't the head coach spend more time on this message board instead of wasting time evaluating film and talking to friends that have coached players. I'm sure he has also been wasting time talking to doctors and trainers about health and rehab progress. Gosh, I sure hope Dan Quinn realizes he needs a starting LG. I bet that slipped his mind... Won't someone direct the coach to the wisdom of this message board?? My goodness, the season is almost over.

As I said in the other thread you said all this in, you should back off on he judgment. Collins hasn't had anything negative since 2013. As for LG, they signed several o-linemen and have several possibilities already on the roster. Whether they are viable or not, we don't know but until something is shown differently on the field, I'm going to trust the staff...
