I say again, still need a running game. None of the OC candidates mentioned here will do squat without it. Fire Sark if you must but until the FO seriously addresses this very offensive line and we have a starting running back that can stay healthy, Freeman or whomever, same ole same ole.

I just don't want to see Ryan have to deal with yet another OC especially since I think the offensive woes lie with the fact we have a horrible O-line and not so much with Sark.
That being said, I could get onboard with Whisenhunt and not only because I watched him play for us. Does Scott Case coach defense anywhere? Talk about bringing a nasty streak. Of course in today's wimpy NFL, most of what he would teach is now illegal. You get flagged if you breathe on someone now, especially if you try to punish QB's for leaving the pocket and running. Defenses need to be able to make guys like Cam Newton, Crablegs and Lamar Jackson think twice about pulling the ball down and running but they can't. Sigh... I miss the old days.

So. You fire the OC and DC then get to say NEXT season that its gonna take a while for the team to adjust to the new coordinators ( which it should). Falcons, rebuilding since 1966...

Wrong! Thank God AB is not as knee jerk as some of this fanbase, nor as dense and downright stupid. He knows that three down linebackers like Deion Jones don't grow on trees.
Unfortunately what will happen is that assistant coaches will be sacrificed because of the FO's continued failure in drafting and signing free agents for the O line especially but the D line as well. Outside of Jarret and Mack and maybe McKinley, we have no one of starting caliber on either side.

People don't get this. Going from Wentz to Foles is going from a good starter to a solid starter. Going from Jones, Jarrett, and Neal to Riley, McClain, and Richards is going from Pro Bowlers to guys who shouldn't be on rosters.

There is a big difference going from Wentz to Foles than it is going from Jones to Riley, Jarrett to McClain, and Neal to Richards though.

OH GEEZ! I can prove the world is flat with stats! I'm not talking about rank and file players on IR! I'm talking about season ending injuries and significant loss of time by the handful of players on offense and defense that make the difference in winning and losing each week. Your argument is still B.S. Back ups are backups for a reason. Wash, rinse, repeat. Backups are supposed to get you through a game, maybe two or three while your starter heals from bumps and bruises. These days, you cannot expect to win very much with backups taking season long roles. Never say never but it's just not going to happen that often. Decline from starter to backup is most prominent and visible at the QB position but it's there everywhere on the field. You folks arguing with me need a reality check. It's not the golden age of the Staubach/Landry led Dallas Cowboys anymore nor is it that of the Bradshaw/Knoll led Steelers. I was around back then, I should know. No one wants a Lombardi for the Falcons more than me, I've been waiting for over fifty years now but I don't believe coaching can overcome the player losses we've sustained this year. You can only do so much with smoke and mirrors. Injuries are not to blame for everything this year but they have definitely caused a **** of a lot of problems. Just be real!

Haven't been here in a bit. Came back and read all these responses, those in disagreement and agreement. I'm still right. BACKUPS ARE BACKUPS FOR A REASON!!! Y'all have a nice day...

Jones and Allen are the QB and center for the defense.  And in the salary cap era there is only so much depth before you’re bringing in guys off the street, and then you can’t run anything exotic, because they have limited time in the scheme and practices.

It's never the answer. The man took us to the Super Bowl, and ****** up....we all agree on that. Sean Payton had 3 7-9 seasons in a row, and hes a genius. Dont let stupid run your franchise.

He's a first time head coach. He made a bad mistake not overruling Shanny but he went with what got them there which was being aggressive. Would you rather have ultra conservative Mike Smith back? I hate to call names but anyone thinking about firing Quinn is just being short sighted and stupid!

Agreed, really ridiculous for there to be any sort of "fire the coach" threads on this board right now. Fortunately, I don't think AB is as knee jerk as some people here seem to be. 50 dang years I've been watching this team and watching football in general. Firing a coach every three or four years is not the answer.

Not time for the question on Quinn. He deserves the benefit of a doubt for this season and probably whatever happens the next. His worst coaching decision ever was not to overrule Shanny in the SB. Three straight runs, kick the field goal and Atlanta has a Lombardi. End of story.

Keep the coaching staff. Dont make full blown changes until absolutely necessary. They've eared a mulligan.
Revisit this question next year. Same bat time, same bat channel.

I don't get here as often as I'd like these days, so this is a bit late but I thought I'd mention my 56th birthday was back on October 15th. As my nickname says, I was 6 years old when my Uncle and cousins sat me down in front of a Falcons game and started teaching me football. 50 mostly tough seasons later and I'm still here! Great game today and it's just wonderful to be back at .500 after such a rough start. We ain't dead yet!
Seems to me that the defensive side of the ball is really starting to jell since the spate of injuries to start the season. Things are looking up folks!

Definitely not a cheap shot and will be shocked if suspended. Kazee did a great job of not using his helmet as a weapon. Let’s not forget Cam can take it to the house, so not easy for a defensive player to hold up like some you guys think he should of. The officials had to manage the game bc of how Carolina reacted, so ejection not that big of a shocker. I still think the ejection was harsh.

The thing with Cam is it’s different when you have a QB who can break tackles and it’s less obvious they’re going to slide. Having to peel off at the last minute when you’re worried he’s going to try to break a tackle is different than the same situation with a guy like Matt Ryan who normally is going to take the space given to him and get down. Rules are meant to protect traditional pocket quarterbacks. I think Kazee was probably trying to make a play and got caught over commuted. He wasn’t head hunting.

I thought Scam slid late and Kazee was already in the air. He looked to let up and Scam faked it a bit.
