  1. I am a Huge Aaron Curry fan....... His versatility, speed, and sideline to sideline play reminds me off Patrick Willis...... Aaron Curry could play all 3 LB positions...... This guy is super strong and also has 4.4/4.5 type speed plus his coverage ability would be great in our scheme......But let me say this..... I think Stephen Nicholas can be a outstanding LB in our scheme also

you guys are forgetting about 2009 free agent DT (years old)

6'7 305lbs DT Chris Canty(25) :The Cowboys cant resign him with all of the big contracts they have dished out...... The still have DeMarcus Ware up coming contract to worry about.......Canty is a Marcus Stroud type D-Lineman....He gets double teamed and still produced 43 tackles and 4 sacks as a 3-4 DE with Dallas..... I think Canty will be on the cheaper side and would make a big impact on our team

6'4 315lbs DT Shaun Cody(25): I think Shaun Cody would be a good rotational run stopper..... I feel like Shaun Cody has allot of good play in him but its just Detroit is not the place for him...... Cody had a good rookie season (28 tackles 2 sacks) but it seem like he fell out of grace when Rod Marinelli took over (Steve Mariucci drafted Cody)..... Like i said Shaun Cody would be a good rotational run stopper

I believe TD will feel allot of holes with good players during the 2009 offseason

It is well known that we are rebuilding thur the draft. Dallas will not let Canty go and Shaun Cody is garbage.

  2. You want to achor your dline on a 36 yr old DT? We all know how quickly a player can loose is physical abilities that long in the tooth an example of this is J. Horn. If was keep him thats fine he can groom the youg guys but I hope we are not expect him to play effecr for another two years. Yes Mark is a nice prospect, I person would not put him in the same class as Cody or Raji who command double teams the minute they step on the field which may not shown up on their stats sheet but will show up on other players stats. Abe & JA98 will be guarantee to see one-on-one blockers. Not to mention our lbs will have better opportunity and success in blitz packages.

Yes everyon has there wants but what other position has great need? We have an opportunity to fix the DT position in one year for at least the next 7 seven years barring injuries.

  3. grady jackson is 35 and i personally think he has another year or two where he can play at this level, which i think has been a pretty good season (i think you agree?). so we can keep him around as one of the players in our rotation. so... if we keep him and then draft terrence cody AND bj raji in rounds 1 and 2 we would have grady jackson, terrence cody and bj raji at NT and babineaux at UT.

im not sure of trey lewis returning to his previous form either. right now im assuming he will be kept around as potential depth, and i dont think that is an outraegous expectation. should he do that... we will have grady, cody, raji and trey lewis.

of course i remember henderson and stroud. i also remember them being complete players. cody is a great run stuffer but im not sure how big of an impact he can have on our pass rush other than being strong enough to hold up against double teams and maybe collapse the pocket. and i really like raji and i know he has 4 sacks this season, but i havent seen him play enough to know how he got them. sacks can be decieving. if you can tell me how he got them id be interested to hear it because i just dont know. from what i understand of him he doesnt have a great array of pass rush moves, but he does have a good burst off of the snap. i personally am willing to guess that his burst off the snap, his good leverage seeing as he is 6' tall plus his strength is useful in overpowering his way past the OG or C and getting into the backfield before the play can appropriately develop. thats just a guess, and im sure he has pass rush moves, but from what i know they arent well developed. i still really want to draft Raji, but he does have negatives just like every prospect. i have us getting him in round 2 however, but he may be a great fit in the 3-4 defense at NT (much like cody).

one guy i actually really do like is sen'derrick marks, the dt from auburn. he has almost 30 TFL in just 3 years at auburn (he has been a starter for all 3, he is a redshirt junior) and is a disrupting force in opponents backfields. he also had 8 qb hurries last season, so even though coming into the year he had 5.5 sacks in 2 years he was still getting after the passer. if HE declares i want to draft him. and i dont see why he wouldnt! this DT class is horrible. i was really hoping it was going to be good, and it looked like it would be. however, if some juniors dont declare it will not be pretty. however if cody, marks and maybe atkins or oghobaase declare it would have substantially more depth and talent.

i guess the reason i wouldnt want 2 dts from this draft is because the class is so horrible (barring junior declarations). i also think cody is a perfect fit for the 3-4 (he plays NT in the 3-4 in alabamas defense...) and i think raji projects very well to the NT in the 3-4 also. its possible he could play a similar role to grady jackson on our defensive line but im not sure yet. i really do like what i hear about marks though. hes about 300 pounds but he might be able to add 5-10 pounds to hold up at NT for us. hes a great disruptor in the backfield though, and we could use more of that on our defensive line. depending on how he is against the run and double teams... i could be very interested in him in my next mocks.

  4. I think TD and co will stress the importance of a team first mentality like the Patriots have - Babineuax won't ask for a bank breaking deal - he will get a good, fair one - plus he doesn't even warrant a bank breaking deal.

It is Michael Boley who we have to worry about.

It is not about what he will ask for it is about what someone else might be willing to pay him. But my point is we have nothing return to us next for dline so we may have to pick uo two dt in next draft with a weak FA market.

  5. d*mn dude... i like the idea of getting DL help but cody AND raji??

theyre both NT's dude... and with grady still here that would make 3 very good guys (none of which im am too sure are great pass rushers, and i say that as a fan of raji even with his 4 sacks this season) at NT and that is assuming trey lewis isnt part of the equation.

that seems like a little bit of overkill...

Well I would have thought it was an over kill if......

    1. Grady Jackson wasn't 100 years old.

    2. Trey Lewis wasn't coming off two knee injury which I have questions whether he can return to his ROOKIE form.

    3. We have absolutely no one else to look forward to at DT to anchor the line.

    4. Our coach who came from a team that had two stout DT which were hogs as well. You might have heard of them (Marcus Stroud 310 plus and John Henderson 335). I probably don't need to remind you that their defense was in the top 10 every year from 2003-07 except 07 ranked 11th and 2003 12th. Up until last year guess who where the only players to represent the Jags in the pro bowl from 2002-2006 you guess it Stroud and Henderson!

I am willing to say that Ala has the best rush defense in the nation, and the minute Cody went out of the game they were a dramatically different team! With him on the line teams could not run on us the way they do and they could not double Abe and JA98. Our safeties can actually cover the field versus supporting the run defense. Over all imptort our until!

Until this week, Raji lead all DT in sacks in the nation! So to say he is not a pass rusher is a little misleading. Not to mention that his stats for the first 5 games of the season are just as good if not better than Dorsey in the first five games and he went 5th in the draft. We can probably get Raji with the 52 pick.

Let take a really look at who we have on our roster at DT

    Jason Jeffers 4 tackles

    Kindal Moorehead 5 tackles

Grady Jackson 12 tackles and 1 sack (Great stats but he will be 36 next year)

Jonathan Babineaux 17 tackles and 1 sack (Great stats and would love for him to return but he is a FA this year and I would not break the bank for him)

Trey Lewis Injury reserve two knee injuries within one year (I would not bank all my money on his upside).

Let's look at possible FA at DT obviously there is only one worth of really looking at, which is Haynesworth. And if the Titans allow him to hit the market it will cost us way too much to retain his services! So Mr. Offseason can you tell why we shouldn't look at taking 2 DT in this years draft?

  6. Resign Lawyer milloy to a 2 year 6 million dollar deal

Resign Michael Boley to a 5 year 38 million dollar deal

Resign Tyson Clabo to a 3 year 8 million dollar deal

Resign Harvey Dahl to a 4 year 10 million dollar deal

Resign Johnothon Babineax to a 4 year 15 million dollar deal

Resign Michael Jenkins to a 4 year 14 million dollar deal

    Let Brooking Retire

    Release Adam Jennings

    Free Agency

Sign CB Chris Gamble to a 6 year 36 million dollar deal

Sign OG Seth Mckinney to a 4 year 10 million dollar deal

    NFL DRAFT

    1) Aaron Curry OLB Wake Forest

    2) Vince Oghobaase DT Duke

    3) Derek Walker DE Illinois

    4) Ryan Purvis TE Boston College

    5)William Dunbar S UAB

    5) Morgan Trent CB Michigan

    7) Brandon Tate WR North Carolina

Don't we have 3 people on roster now capable of doing pr/kr? Norwood, Douglas and Brown when health? If the lb core is the strength of our defense shouldn't we address our weaken. We currently have a Nicholas who is more than capable of taking over wlb, why use a 1 round pick for a position that we already have covered? DT or SS is the way to go in my opinion.

Image a dline with Cody, Raji, Abe and JA98. We would have one of the best run defense on the face of the planet!!!!!!!!!! Team could no longer double our DE and we could finally apply pressure on qb so they would pick apart our secondary. The reason the Bucs and the Bears have great cover 2 defense is because their DLine.

  7. it really depends on what the coaching staff feels. I figure that so far Nicholas can be counted on to be solid depth. Curry should be an every down backer in this league.

What makes you think Nicholas is not an every down lb? I just figure with so many holes on the DLine that we should address that early and often. In fact I wam willing to say on defense the lb core is our best position no need to keep address that area if we need SS, DT and probably cb.

  8. Then maybe this would look a little better. I still like taking 2 DT. Jerry's ability to penetrate he could move to UT but is big enough to be a NT.

    1. William Moore-SS-Missouri

    2. Kevin Barnes-CB-Maryland

    3. Peria Jerry-DT-Ole Miss

    4. Dorell Scott-DT-Clemson

    5. Eric Woods-C-Louisville

    5. Brandon Tate-WR/KR-North Carolina

    6. Brandon Swain-DE- Western Texas A&M

Then maybe this is the best!

  9. I doubt that dogfighting and dog breeding and betting was a "one time" event ... that was well planned, which makes it even worse. Looking at Goodell and his punishments right now, I doubt that Vick will ever play in the NFL again.

Habitual means he is constantly getting arrested like Henry and Pacman. I am sure that the behaviour that any of these people were not there first time but when you get arrest 7-13 times you have a problem. Pacman was in a incident that cause a man to be paralyzed and he got a second and third chance.

  10. Not really ... he has numbers when it comes to height, weight, strength ... but not much skills ... and as you said, not the numbers on the field to back the off-field numbers up.

IF we should take a DE, we would have to take a close look at Greg Hardy. I know he's a troublemaker at the university, but I'm sure our FO would at least talk to him, as far as skills go Hardy and Orakpo might be the 2 most NFL-ready DEs.

I wouldn't take a Safety first round, I've always stated that, it's just bad value for a position that doesn't impact the game every snap.

If the draft played out like that, I'd be in big trouble, because all the players I like are either gone or bad value and trying to find a tradepartner wouldn't be easy either. Looking at the players available, I'd either go DL (Orakpo or Hardy) or OL (Robinson, Black, Mack) ... but like I said, they're all not really worth the pick, or let's say, they have to show something till draft-day.

I also like Pettigrew, blocking TEs that can catch the ball like he does are very rare, but again, not worth the pick.

If Mount Cody injury is not too serious which it may not be I would still consider taken him in the first round. Nick Reed numbers from Oregon are great on the field and off. I truly believe that these are the type of players TD is searching for that are located in my signature. You can't argue with the need nor the production for not only this year but the past two years not to mention there are no character issue.

  11. Where did you get that from? There are many CBs who just come out of no where without any special development. And there are cornerbacks in the league who have made an impact since day one. For example, Darrelle Revis from the Jets.

I got it from common sense. Ok one out of a hundred I sorry! Champ Bailey, Asante Samuel & Asomugha Nnamdi all took over three years to develop into the Pro Bowl caliber players that they are today!

  12. Shouldn't we be focused on addressing our dline first? Even thou our center is getting up there in age except for depth and replacing McClure sometime in the near future we are set. As far as the dline we can't not stop the dominate runner which if and when we do make the playoff will hurt us.

  13. I like how people always mention we need a pass-rush but they disagree with my Orakpo pick. Unless JA98 proves me otherwise we still need a DE.

The reason why I would question it is because I would rather pick a DE who's stats are just as good in a later rounds and get a stout DT that we have needed for the past two seasons. Let me introduce you to Mr. Nick Reed 29 Tck 11.5 TFL 8 Sacks and 9 QB Hurries. Oh by the way if you thought this year was a fluke last year 60 Tck 22.5 TFL 12 Sacks better than your boy.
