He is the one likely to hit FA so that’s great news.  He is a true single high so he or Simmons are my dream scenerio’s

If a safety is talented enough to play a demanding position such as single high, does that mean they will easily be able to translate to every other defensive scheme (cover 2, cover 3...etc) since they will be responsible for covering less field?

How do you guys feel about the Falcons offensive lines performance in 2020? What do you think they need to do to improve in 2021? Do you think that firing Dirk Koetter and Morgan will solve most of the offensive lines problems?

Considering the OC, predictability and crappy misfit of a scheme, I give them a B+/A-.

Offense is definitely a strength. However you’re assuming we can get a defense built around Ryan/Julio’s time table, which I think is a tall task. The probability of that is low, so offense may need to account for a new QB within the aforementioned time frame.

Do you think we will be able to make the playoffs if the DC can get the defense to play at either middle of the pack level or at post DQ level at best? If so, I think our offense will be able to make up the gap difference if equipped with a good run game.

Defenses usually don't take that long to turn around after an overhaul. We don't need them to be elite or even top 10 to make the playoffs. But if they do find themselves in that category towards the last half of next season, we might be on our way to the superbowl if Arthur has our offense playing above average.

Like it or not this team is in a rebuild. Anyone expecting us to be in a “win now” mode is setting unrealistic expectations. There will be a learning curve to this offense, and there will be roster optimization moves. We should see a turn around in record. We may even make it to the playoffs. However it should be about 2-3 years before we are seriously competing again for a SB.

I think it's the defense that needs a complete overhaul. The offense, personnel wise, could compete for playoffs with a competent OC. The talent is more than enough at an positions except at RB.

  5. He could have used the Patrick Willis/ Jamal Anderson draft example. We passed up Willis for a need pick in defensive tackle Jamal. Couldn't believe Rich McKay did that as GM. He had no back up plan at that position when he couldn't land his DT in free agency.

This is a worse example than fans saying we should take a QB to sit a year at 4 because GB did it at 26, and that’s the same...

Exactly! And, that’s without Takk or Fowler barely making an impact...add pass rushers and improve the secondary

Seriously Ergo, I think Raheem did a borderline excellent job as head coach and getting the defense to outperform it's talent level by a very significant margin.

Thats the main quality I look for in my coaches. Do they have the ability to not only maximize player's talent but also help them believe in themselves to overachieve, especially when they are working with a dearth of talent.

I think the Raheem and Jeff combination have proven they have these traits coupled with Raheem having previous head coaching experience to have learned from.  I can only imagine what the defense would look like if they actually had decent level of talent.

I wouldn't mind Raheem staying. I will even go as far as endorsing him to stay IF he could bring McDaniels back to Atlanta. The only thing we would have to rebuild is the defense. Period!

Offense is already more loaded now than it was when Shanahan was here.

Interesting data - contradicts the TATF consensus that a trash Defense is what's dragging down the team.

In both total and weighted DVOA, the Falcons' D performed better than the O.

And that's with a very horrible start to the season. Yet they eclipsed power over paid and over resourced offense by the end of it. Dirk needs to go!

This was a good game honestly.  Shows that we have promise defensively but we didn't screw up our draft position.

I agree. The defense has been far outperforming their talent level since coach Morris took over. I wish the offense can even perform somewhat close to average of their talent level.

That's why when ppl complain about the defense not holding a lead or winning the game is where i  side eye ppl because that's not how this team was constructed. Heck how many top teams are blowing leads this year? Can't have elite defense when more than 60 percent of cap space is spent on offense along with our 2 highest paid players on the team. We are stacked on that side of the ball while the talent on defense has been dumpster fire for years. Yet we are asking them to carry the team. Smh

They showed up and showed out against the champions and best team in the league. Chiefs defense isn't elite by any means but our offense has a habit of making every opponent defense look extremely capable with or without their key players.

He has as much if not more experience than the others mentioned, he was an amazing scout and exec, he gets it when it comes to talent and skills, he has a dog mentality, he was a leader when he played and still is, he offends the sensitive because hes candid.

Had no idea about him. If the reporter that changed his name to Lombardi can get a GM job with Cleveland Browns, I hope Riddick can get a shot somewhere. Mike Mayock also got the GM job with the raiders. Until there is enough diversity amongst the team owners, the Rooney Rule can only help so much.

  10. I think we already have the pieces on offense ready to go. The offensive line and receivers. We need to hire someone from the chiefs or 49ers. Then allow them to hire their defensive coordinator to build that side of the ball from scratch. It will be the fastest turnaround that still allows us to somewhat salvage the back end of Julio and Matt era.

That I am not worried about.

The run defense has been really good.

Outside of the busted coverage by the falcons on the trubisky run, the bears did not do on the ground.

We did a pretty good job vs Elliott

And we strait up punked the hawks Oline when it came to runnning.

If the Packers try to run it down our throats then they are setting themselves up for big disappointment..... especially if we go into the game mostly healthy upfront.

Is Grady playing? He was hurt for the rest of the 4th last Sunday?

The Falcons have deeper roster issues other than Matt Ryan. The offense is putting up points. They do stall too often, but points on the board near 30+ every game should be enough.

If you look around the league, 30 points isn't enough and not many teams are maintaining leads in week 3. It came down to whichever team and their main player executing in those moments. Stats aren't reflective of those moments. The plays were there in week 3. No first downs the last 4 drives before they took the lead. The plays were there.  Ryan didn't deliver.

As a leader and "elite" player, he is often not capitalizing on moments. Not all is his fault, but when opportunities are there, I have no faith in him. I do wish we got him a good coordinator that's not a retread. Shanahan was the only one that he had had his whole tenure here. That's very unfortunate.

The team, as a whole, failed yesterday.

I agree. Strangely enough, I felt we almost turned the corner yesterday. We almost put a complete game together for the first time all season. We were one clock eating drive or one deep pass connection to Z from getting that first win. We are almost there.

Now I don't know what to expect for our next game with our injury riddled defense that barely had enough talent to begin with. Luckily saints are losing as well. The season isn't lost but we have to learn to finish from coaching on down.

We're almost there. If we get there, I just hope we aren't 1-7 again before we hit the switch. This crap has got to stop.
