I agree. So what do you think so far with FAs, draft etc.?

That’s if he starts at RT. Some think he could. As a G though most think his issues somewhat go away.

Either way, solid back up and a decent project. I think we're golden until we have to make a change

Arkansas had Treylon Burks who is probably a first round pick next year, and Mike Woods who just transferred to Oklahoma so there were some talented receivers but yeah, not the pure volume of good WRs that Florida puts out.
I do think people overlook the quietly good season he had last year and wrote him off from his Florida days. He probably should have done better than he did at UF but even then, his last full season as a starter there he had like 24 touchdowns to 6 interceptions which isn’t horrible.
The only real issue I had with Franks last year was his pocket presence. He refused to throw the ball away and took awful sacks because he kept trying to keep the play alive and break every tackle while awkwardly running around. He has a beautiful deep ball though and did a good job of taking care of the ball for the most part. With a good OL and running game that he can play action off of I think he can be a decent backup for a while.

Todd Gurley told Arthur Smith he'd love to come back. He's still a free agent. I expect the Falcons to bring in another running back at some point. Could Todd Gurley be that guy?

There are a few guys on this team that have been put on notice:
    Hennessey, McGary
Gage, Zaccheus, Treadwell.  Some may not agree with those but when you draft a WR it means something for the other already there.
    Cominsky, Davidson
    Isaiah Oliver
    Jaliynn Hawkins
    Chris Rowland
    Ollison, TBJ

xSICKxWITHxITx reacted to KRUNKuno in Kudos to Fontenot and Smith on their first draft
Fontenot was the guy I wanted as soon as the GM position opened up.  Aints rosters have always had depth and have been well rounded.  From the pro personnel side it’s clear to see that Fontenot knows what he’s doing.  Bringing in quality guys like Patterson, Harmon, Erik Harris, Mingo, Moreau, etc...not to bash Dimitroff and Quinn, but these are pieces we wouldn’t have seen here.  A lot of people here didn’t think he’d do well in the draft aspect because “that was all Mickey Loomis”, but it’s obvious that Fontenot knows how to work a draft board; trading down when needed, finding boom picks and value picks.  Now looking at the UDFA signings and again it’s clear that we are bringing in intriguing players that will push the competition in house.

Arthur Smith was a guy that I didn’t want lol.  However, I’ve grown to trust that this guy is no frills and all business.  He and Terry seem to be on the same page with a clear vision in mind.  They have worked this off-season masterfully together so far.  We won’t truly know the full extent of his coaching abilities until players get on field, but all signs point towards a positive outcome considering the synergy in the FO right now.

High five, fist bump, daps all around.  Great job, guys!

One of the worst RB groups in the NFL and they do nothing in a RB rich draft to improve it.

Hall seems like JAG to me. It may be West Coast bias but I had not heard of him and my 10 minutes of youtube scouting did little to convince me he was better than the other rnd 4-6 DBs.
Another interior OL who is undersized. Did AB let forget to take TD's keycard away? Seems like Deja Vu all over again.

Edit: Fixed typo describing #114 as a DL instead of OL

That’s terrible. WTH. Complete Dan Quinn/Dimitroff pick. Guy is freaking tiny. We got a better version of this guy already In Hennessy.

And believe me I’m fine if they want to upgrade at center. But it better be a no doubter gonna start. Not some tiny guy who isn’t better than what we already got,

Last two picks I took Daviyon Nixon and Deonte Brown.

In reality we got Darren Hall and drew dalman.

Here's the essential part for Falcons fans. Thus far, we've taken three players who appear likely to start this year. Teams believe they have good drafts when they get four starters. And we have two of the next ten picks. We've got a solid chance to bag five starters.

Falcons selected OG Jalen Mayfield with the No. 68 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Mayfield (6'5/320) started 15 games in college, winning the right tackle job in 2019 and ultimately getting knocked out for the year with a high-ankle sprain two games into Michigan’s snake-bitten 2020 campaign. Mayfield detonates off the snap in the run game, striking with speed and ferocious power that uncoils out of his hips and sustains through contact because of his fabulous leg drive. But at this time in his development, Mayfield is more comfortable moving forward than settling back into a pass-pro base. He plays with less power in this phase, negating the advantage of his get-off. With average foot speed and a lack of ideal length, Mayfield cannot afford the technical gaffes we occasionally saw in Big 10 play, leading to power rushers getting into his pads or speed rushers taking the corner when he over-extended on the punch. If Mayfield can clean that up, he'll have the potential to move to tackle down the road. Even if he doesn’t, he’ll be a run-blocking unit at guard. He has a very similar profile to Dion Dawkins coming out of Temple. The Falcons announced Mayfield as a guard so we'll assume that's where he'll play if he gets to start in his rookie season. Atlanta lost two of their starting interior lineman in free agency so Mayfield will get the chance to start in Week 1 if he shows well in camp.
