  1. dude also showed no strength on his lift...18times...lol think Ryan did that hahahahaha

He did 23 at his Pro Day and Nick Mangold only did 24 at the Combine....I bet the Jets are glad they didnt pass on him (late 1st) b/c of "strength" issues...football in the trenches ahas a lot to do with knee bend and leverage....if an OL is trying to extend his arms on a guy, he will get beat....

  2. I like this pick . It's not sexy , but it needed to be done . I guess the staff was really ticked about those 4 th and inches . This should help with that little problem . My only concern with Konz is that he's a little too tall for a center , since the inside is all about leverage .

I'm sure that had a lot to play with this pick...

    Look at it this way....

This pick is solid for two reasons:

    1. If Manawai or Johnson dont look good in TC, Konz could easliy play RG while we suffer a little at C with McLure...

    2. If one of those guys steps up and can handle the RG spot, than we have our starting C and we have him for awhile....

  3. Konz is a great pick...

I don't think the strength issues everyone wants to bring up are a big problem....Yes he did 18 reps at the combine....did 23 at Pro Day...Nick Mangold only did 24 when he was entering the draft...

Injury concerns are a little gamble, but we got the best C in this years draft...

I think this pick does several things...It ensures us a starter at RG if we dont see improvement in Johnson or Manawuai doesnt play as well....If one of those guys comes in and plays well this year, than we easily have a solid starter at C....and we know that he will be the starter at C in 2013....

    Great pick TD!!!

  4. Dude, the jury is back home, in their jammies, watching the late show.

Yea...Im okay with giving Hawley a shot this year to hold down the center position, but if he struggles...we will need t move in another direction in 2013...

As for Jerry, Ive seen enough to know that was a bad pick, and I feel that I saw anough from Johnson to suggest he will be no better than a rotational guy, unless he gets stronger and better technique....but Im willing to let that pick go as well (especially with the addition of Manawai)....

  5. I saw earlier that the Cowboys are giving Dez Bryant #88, which means they think very highly of him...

I was just curious what your thoughts would be for Spoon and his jersey number...I don't know if the NFL would allow #60 (Nobis)

    I personally would like 58...

  6. Since it is an away game I will be watching on TV. I think this will be the first away game opener in several years that little will be said about Vick since Lil' Ben will be in the spotlight.

Of course that means there won't be much talk about the falcons...as usual...and then later in the season if we do win that game, it will be looked at as not an impressive victory since Ben didnt play in it...who cares though a W is a W

  7. Dunlap will be a top-5 LDE in the NFL.

    JPP will be a 1-dimensional pass-rush monster.

Pouncey will not be a great centre, certainly not worth his draft position if selected in the 1st round.

Jahvid Best will be better than Spiller.

Gerhart will be a very good #1 back.

Suh will be a star at the next level.

    Graham will be pro-bowl calibre.

Morgan won't, he'll just be a solid starter.

Joe Haden will be a shutdown corner.

Jim Dray will be one of the best balanced TEs in the NFL.

Golden Tate is going to be a very good WR for the team that drafts him.

Tim Tebow will win a superbowl.

To be honest, that would not surprise me...he will either be on a good team (that has a legitimate shot at a SB OR he will continue his legacy at the next level, and bring some filthy low life team back into the Limelight (RUSH)...hehehe

  8. Man you're good, those were the only three that I honestly believed when I wrote them. In truth I don't hate Graham, he just scares me. Too many guys like him come out as a first rounder, but with his OVERALL (dunno how to explain it) I just don't know. He's a major guy on this board, but my "not sure".

When we drafted Anderson I was so sure that I didn't want him I spammed for weeks about it. But Graham isn't bad spam worthy, but he's a wait and see. Kinda like I was and still am on Jerry.

Yep...there is just something that isn't there with Graham...I'm not high on taking DE from the Big 10...they play much slower and more conservative in that conference...however there usually are better OT...

If we go DE...it should be D.Morgan (had a great interview on ESPN the other day, very good character guy), or no DE at all...I would be all open to trading our 3rd for Osi or even a 2010 5th and a 2011 4th for Osi...I think he could really put our pass rush over the top, and with an addition of another DT in Price, Odrick, or Auolu...we could have a solid DLine

The JA98 thing...we should have moved the farm for Calvin Johnson...for ticket sales alone, I think a lot of poeple were high on Willis, and he has been stellar...didn't think Revis would be where he is at, but to be honest I really wanted Calvin and then AP...and both went ahead of us....

As far as Jerry...I would have prefered Ziggy Hood, or swapped the positions of our picks, maybe Delmas or Chung and then a guy like Sendarick Marks (DT) who is very quick....

I still think Jerry can be solid, not great though, and William Moore will be good, IMO...

  9. Here are a few journal articles that have been done looking at Combine performance and NFL success....

In one, you can see that really only combine performance measures are significantly, positively correlated to running backs...meaning some of the measures (40 time, etc..) relate to playing time, salary, and performance success

In the other, it looks at drafted and undrafted players that performed at the combine....out of those...every field test (40 time, etc.) was signigicantly better for the players that were drafted over the ones that were not drafted, with the exception of the broad jump...

The point....the combine is more than a show...yes film study is probably the best predictor for NFL success, however physical measures are important as well...
